DD is 12, and this will be the 3rd year for Flynn the Elf's visit. DD loves him, and I suspect he will continue visiting for a long time. I know some people think the concept is creepy or that it is too much work, but we have a lot of fun with it. I would love to hear your biggest hits. Our favorite was the Tooth Fairy Mugging. After Ali lost a tooth one year, the elf "caught" the fairy, and she only "got away" with the tooth. The elf was found sitting by the door surrounded by coins, sugar free gum, etc. He has also been caught lighting a candle, decorating the kitchen with bows, and sledding (on paper towels) with his stuffed friends. He does a lot of ordinary things, too - playing with stuffed animals, hiding in stockings or the tree, etc. - but he like to do a few big things each year. Apparently, he gets bored waiting for us to get up each morning. This year, I am trying to help the elf plan early so that he doesn't have to think every day. We've started a calendar, including: - The Angels have the Treebox - Doctor Who fans might appreciate this one. The elf purchased a Weeping Angel tree topper from ThinkGeek. Flynn is going to replace our normal angel with that one one night.
- "I Made Him Pretty" - Painting the dog.
- Dog's Revenge - Elf will be stuck outside trying to get in the sliding glass door (like the dog stole him).
- Minecrafter - The elf will be playing on Minecraft with a small Minecraft box over his head.
- Riding in on a Reindeer - Decorating my dad's deer head like Rudolph.
- Making his own tree using little ornaments and a strand of little lights from Dollar Tree.
So, what have your favorites been? What are you planning for this year?

We need to do more silly things with ours now that DD is big enough to really get into it. We usually plant "Magic Seeds" (chocolate covered sunflower seeds) in a bowl of sugar so that a crop of Dum Dum Pops or candy canes will grow, or he hides the little snowman treat pocket that holds DD's daily treat for getting a good report the day before. I don't allow our elves to be "naughty" but silly would be okay. I bought some mini M&M's to spell out "We're BACK!" when ours come out of hiding for the season! LOL, if I let one of the elves unroll the TP in her bathroom, that would send DD right over the edge because she knows that's a big no-no! But maybe he could unroll it enough to write "Merry Christmas!" on it...

Our elf drew on the bathroom mirror with lipstick once - DD found it so creepy to have the elf in the bathroom that she wouldn't use that bathroom all day! I have seen other toilet pranks on Pinterest - I guess those families can't use that toilet all day either.

We used ours for a few years. I can not remember if we retired him last year or not. I know we were thinking about it. Ill have to talk to DH about it. Our youngest is 12 So it was getting harder and harder for him to believe that the elf did all these things.
A few of the hits here were,
one yr we had no snow at all before christmas, Sometimes we dont have it on the ground at christmas, but usually it at least snows before. Well it hadnt, and my kids were bummed ( especially the little one) so the elf made it snow at the end of our stairs so that when they came down in the morning, they had to walk through it. We used fishing line, Snowflake punch outs and cotton balls and glued all of the flakes and cotton balls to the string and hung them from the ceiling. Elf was on the table next to the stairs with all of the "supplies" when they woke up.
We also have a Very big living room, with vaulted ceilings and it is open to the upstairs. So one year Elf was caught Ziplining across the living room to the fireplace ( that was on christmas eve)
Another year he tp'd the upstairs, the tree and some how got TP tied around him and was hanging from the ceiling fan in living room ( 16/18ft high ceiling)
other than those things, he has done pretty normal stuff that you see on pinterest. We used marshmallows as snowballs, spelled stuff with m&m's, hung from chandeliers, hid in the christmas tree, hung from the garland on the stairs etc.

Well I bought the elf to give to my dd last year for my grandbabies and she said no thanks..did not want the elf and thought he was too creepy. Honestly he reminded me of these elves my mother used to have when we were kids (the were just carolers) and I loved them so I kept him. Now mind you it's just me and my dh plus my youngest ds who is 22 so I am planning more adult type events. The classic empty beer bottles around the base of the toilet with the elf leaning over the toilet bowl Next day he will be holding the bottle of Advil with a few pills scattered about Also want to fill the sink with mini marshmallows for the bubble bath (this will annoy my ds because he'll have to remove the bubbles to use the sink) Put the elf in the toilet paper roll and roll him down a very long hallway towards ds's room My husband uses sugar in his coffee so I will spill it out and do the snow angel. I pinned a whole bunch this am. Feel free to view my Elf PintrestMost of my stuff is pretty harmless

Now see I am grossed out when I see people put it on or near the toilet and then later have it in the kitchen. GROSS! Unless they are laundering the elf which I doubt people are doing.

I just assumed their toilets were much, much cleaner than mine...clean enough to have an elfy visitor.
