I was reading this column and the bolded part just stood out. I thought “bingo we have a winner”. I have said many times I’m always happy when I find someone saying something I believe but so much better.
That bolded part best describes, IMO, the American Voter to a “t”.
Want proof take a gander at what’s happening in CA right now. To use a phrase from Jon Stewart, what is happening in CA is a big “clusterf&#k brought about by a bunch of voters who can’t see beyond the tip of their very tiny nose. And it shouldn’t be happening. IMO.
This lack of logic on the part of the voters isn’t just happening in CA but is playing across the entire country. IMO
From the Washington Post..
“Opinion: It’s time Democrats stood up for the ‘silent majority’
Opinion by Jennifer Rubin Columnist Today at 12:00 p.m. EDT
From the column…
“It is also exasperating that a new Reuters-Ipsos poll shows 61 percent of Americans want a total withdrawal from Afghanistan, but 50 percent want to send troops back in to fight the Taliban. (Even worse, 68 percent say it was going to end badly no matter when we pulled out, but 51 percent wanted to leave troops there for another year.) Logic and consistency are not voters’ strong suits.”

I posted on another thread, but my patience for the very loud, vocal minority is running out. I agree, it's time for Democrats to stand up for things that the majority of Americans believe in. If we need to do something sensational like the representative from New York who slept on the capitol steps to protest the end of the eviction moratorium, then let's get creative. I'm tired of the crazies like MTG getting all of the attention.
From the article - these sections stood out to me In the fake balance approach to news coverage, the mainstream media rarely lets on how aberrant the MAGA crowd and disproportionately right-wing Senate have become. The impulse among many reporters to treat policy debates as an evenly matched ping-pong game delivers a false impression that the sides have equal strength.
Democrats need to find language to characterize their own supporters and policies (normal, ordinary, mainstream, reality-based) and their opponents’ (radical, extreme, fringe). They should not be nervous about labeling the GOP’s embrace of insurrection, violence and authoritarianism as un-American.
Republicans have successfully labeled Democrats as radical, socialists, Marxists, communists, etc. It's time to fight back.

This is an interesting Twitter thread. Why is it here and not on the CA recall thread. Look at what Elder was reported to have said about women and politics, current events and economic issues. Is he wrong or is there a certain amount of truth in what he says that he got from some study?
IMO if he is right, that would certainly affect how some women would vote. IMO
I think for some women it’s true. Especially when it comes to politics. For whatever the reason they can’t be bothered in showing any or much interest in politics. And how they vote my be reflective of that. IMO.

I think people are really torn over Afghanistan. Both Democrats and republicans feel like we should be out of there. BUT now that it's happening, and TRUMP and the republican started the process.. now the republicans don't want it. ? what changed? what did they think was going to happen? Everyone pretty much saw what would happened. Oh, and of course we don't want any of the afganistans brought back over here, even though they put their lives out their for the US. It's all just a freakin mess.

F that. When they go low, F-ing bury them. (Metaphorically, of course for you gasping pearl clutchers. Don’t get panties in a bunch thinking I’m calling for murder.)

I haven't read the article yet, but in addition to how out of the norm their views are, the media never really highlights how SMALL this minority actually IS, either. They make it seem like fully half the country supports DT, Mitch the Turtle, et. al, when it's really only about 25% of REPUBLICANS, isn't it?? (or at least it's a lot less than half the country, anyway.) The absolute # / % is MUCH smaller than they always make it sound. Which makes the rest of us (non-vocal) 'ordinary' folks think 'there's no hope' in fighting for normalcy, because there's so many of the kooky Q and DT supporters out there.

For those that might actually be interested here’s the poll results from the 1000 people surveyed Reuters-Ipsos poll. For most of the questions the responses from the Democrats and Republicans aren’t that much different.
