Over on the Challenges board, we are gearing up for SKETCHTEMBER: a new sketch every day for 30 days, along with a challenge and lots of inspiration. We would love for you to join us.
Did I mention PRIZES? There are several on the table for those who play along.
You do NOT have to be a team member to play along, but if you would like to amp up the fun, please feel free to Sign up for a September Team where you can earn points for any number of crafty activities (Can't say how many, or what activities earn points, cuz the team members set the challenges at the beginning of the month)
Whether you decide to join a team or not, stock up on glue and other basics, clear a space on your desk and on your calendar, and prepare to have some scrappy fun!

I’m happy you’re organizing this grammadee and I will play along! I don’t want to join a team but I’d like to donate a prize. Let me look around and see what I have (probably a stamp set).

I'm so looking forward to it this year. I've been pulling out papers and pairing them with photos I've found that I'm hoping to scrap during the month, something I never do as part of my normal process, and I think this weekend I might create a stash kit of embellishments I'd like to work on using (or using up) during the month.

I can't wait!! Sketchtember is always my most productive month, and this Sketchtember also marks the third anniversary of me scrapping with the Peas.

After watching Shimelle put together quick page kits in her workshop on the weekend, I was pumped to do the same. Of course I have not DONE that yet, but I have her list of items to tuck into a kit, so I just might get the kits done before the excitement begins.
And the stash basket is a great idea. I sometimes do that after the challenges all land at the beginning of the month. Must remember to do that this time...

I am seriously the most prepared I have ever been for sketchtember. I've been writing down stories I want to tell as I think of them. I don't have 30, and I don't have to scrap all the ones on my list, but I'm hoping it will help on the days I don't have as much time or am just not sure where to begin.
I mentioned I'd paired up some photos and papers, and tonight I've been pulling more papers and key embellishments I want to use to tell some of the stories on my list. Interestingly, as I've been sorting through my supplies, I've found things that have sparked further story ideas. I've never really been a kit scrapper because I've never considered my stash large enough, but I'm keen to see how this works for me.
Is anyone else prepping in any way?

I've been writing down stories I want to tell as I think of them. I Such a good idea! When and where do you write them down? Sometimes, I "write" wonderful stories in my head but can't even remember the subject a couple of hours later. My brain is either in "drive" or it's in "park", and all information is lost once I sit down and "Park"! I usually rely on photos to bring forth a story, but since so many stories are told that don't directly relate to a photo I like your method better. I probably just need to keep a journal. Duh.

Sometimes, I "write" wonderful stories in my head but can't even remember the subject a couple of hours later. It really varies. Because I've been so focused on prep for sketchtember lots of ideas have been bubbling up so I literally have a handwritten list that I add to as I think of them. Some of them have photos, but some do not, some I already know what the story will be, but others are more of an idea that is not really fleshed out yet. eg I noticed I was wearing my library monitor badge in one of my school photos this week but while there isn't a big or specific story to go with it, it's something I'd like to put into my childhood album, so I've just written a note that says "[school] library monitor". I also have a word doc (several actually, they're sort of broken up by different periods of my life) where I jot down ideas. Sometimes that will be a sentence or two that will eventually form part of my journaling, sometimes it's just a note that prompts me of a story I want to tell, and sometimes it's the full journaling, ready to be printed and added to my page whenever I finally get around to making it.

Is anyone else prepping in any way? I am putting some page kits together today. Will start with a set of photos, then cs & papers. Then some extra elements. May do some die cutting. Last month I tucked a sketch into each page kit. May do that as they pop up in SKETCHtember. I don’t usually write out stories ahead of time, but I do make lists of stories. If I think of a title I will write that on a sticky to go into the kit. kitbop, I. Often string together stories in my brain, especially when driving or doing something repetitive. Sometimes I type them out on the computer before I forget, but often I don’t. schroema, I need photos to get my brain started in scrapping. Really glad I got a bunch printed last week. Of course I have a bunch on my phone I am excited about, but hoping to get those printed before I am too far into SKETCHtember.

I've been prepping this way for my crop next month. And I've found the same thing, that some of the embellishments or papers I run across spark stories. I've been writing down the story idea as I go. I am enjoying prepping this way. I can see myself doing this in the future.
