My daughter had all 4 of her wisdom teeth removed on Friday, August 20th. She is still noticeable swollen on both sides. She looks like a chipmunk. We took her in this past Friday to have her checked and she is healing fine - no dry socket and no food debris caught. She still has a slight amount of pain but she says it is mostly in her check muscles and not her mouth. She is taking ibuprofen every six hours still but the swelling is still there. I know this is all within normal limits but my son definitely did not gave swelling this long.
What has been your experience?
Thank goodness for masks - they hide swollen cheeks!

Is she icing her cheeks? My daughter had very little swelling and was icing regularly.

That seems like an awfully long time to be that swollen. My daughter had hers out at Thanksgiving Break last year and hated to put ice on her cheeks so she didn’t, and she was still back to normal by the end of the weekend.

Did she ice for the first 24 hours. My son did snd thought I was nuts for keeping on him about it but he almost was back to normal the next day. I think I was told the swelling should go down after 48 hours or at least the worst if it.
Soft food nothing hot the first day then just soft for the next few days. He only took ibuprofen the first day. Sorry your daughter is having a tough time if it. Thinking back I was really swollen when I had mine out. I went back to get stitches removed but they couldn’t do it as I was too swollen snd had to go back Monday vs Friday. Thinking I had it done on a Wednesday. The following Monday I had them removed no problem.
ETA that I just realized you said the 20th not last Friday. Poor thing that’s a long time. I hope she is feeling better soon

I was green with swelling for a week. It's part of healing. If she's in more pain or doesn't seem to be healing then call the oral surgeon.

Frozen Peas are awesome for swelling. When I had teeth pulled I used frozen peas, 15 minutes on 15 minutes for almost 48 hours and had no swelling at all. I also slept sitting up for 3 days which they say helps with the swelling.
I would try the frozen peas (any ice pack) now to see if it will help.

I had all 4 of mine out at once (a million years ago). I had no swelling at all.
I hope she's all better soon!

I had abnormal (IMO) swelling after extraction and I had a soft tissue infection. Can you get a 2nd opinion?
