Inspired because I am using a wedge pillow for GERD. I keep sliding down in the bed. I wish I had a footboard to stop the slide.

Headboard and footboard (makes tucking in sheets and blankets SO difficult), and DH still manages to fall out of bed. His head winds up on my pillow & his feet begin to slide out of the bed (above the footboard), and then he falls right out. He lands on his knees, bottom or rarely hits his head on the way down. I've put pillows in between the bed and end table so that he doesn't crack his head open.
Bottom line is that it won't protect you from falling out of bed. You need guard rails to do that!

I hate footboards. We had an iron bed and there was just one support across the bottom that made it fairly easy to make up. I got rid of the footboard for the upstairs bed years ago.

I cannot manage to walk around a footboard without slamming into it, no matter how much clearance I think I have, so I am #headboardonly. And my thighs are bruise-free and grateful.

We have a four poster bed, so headboard but no footboard in the traditional sense.

We have a rice bed which is a four-poster that’s fairly iconic in the south.
Charleston Magazine describes it this way: “ Rice beds were primarily designed to allow for better air circulation during steamy summers. The mattress frame is high off the ground, while the headboard is low and sometimes completely removable. Before air conditioning, beds were moved to the center of the room during hot weather for a cooler sleep.”
The one in our bedroom has a higher headboard but the footboard between the lower posts is quite low (below the mattress). It does sit fairly high overall. We have a really high one in a guest room with a set of bed steps to make it easier to access it.
Other rooms have either a sleigh style bed or an iron bed.

We have a sleigh bed. The dog likes to drape her head over the footboard if she manages to scrunch the pillows high enough at the end of the bed.
I suspect that your wedge angle is too steep. We have an adjustable bed and if I’m sliding down, I know I have the angle too sharp.

We used to have just a headboard. I like to scooch down and hang my feet off the end of the bed so no footboard. We got a new bed a couple months ago and haven’t taken the time to find a replacement.

I answered headboard, but it’s not really a headboard. It’s a modern upholstered piece that hangs on the wall behind the bed. You’d never know to look at it that it’s not connected to the bed. I love it.

Our old bed had a headboard and footboard. Last year we bought a Sleep Number bed and just a headboard. Don’t miss the footboard at all. I love not having one anymore. It’s easier to make the bed and it just feels more open.

Headboard and footboard, but the footboard sits at the level of the bottom of the mattress. It's perfect. I like the look, and it doesn't get in the way of making the bed.

We have a headboard and footboard. The footboard does make it a little tricky to make the bed, but that works for me. Dh chooses to make the bed so I don't risk breaking a nail. Can't complain about that. :-)

Headboard and I guess footboard. It isn't tall and is only the mattress is a wee taller.
Dd has a foot and headboard and sometimes sleeps upright due to Pots and still slides down off of the pillows. Footboard doesn't stop that.

We have a sleigh bed, so a headboard and a way too big footboard. After 32 years of marriage, I'm ready for something like this.

I have a day bed that I sleep on. Technically, I have a headboard, footboard and sideboard. Specifically, it's straight across rails. It the same height rail all the way around, so either end can be the head or the foot. I sleep with my head at the end that is directly underneath the ceiling fan.
I use a wedge pillow as well. It braces against my "headboard".

you do not have to have the incline so steep that you slide off. Husband has had reflux for many, many years and once he put the be on an slight incline he was much better.

A footboard wouldn’t be too far away for your feet to reach? It is for me, though I’m 5’ 2.5”and shrinking, and also for my husband who’s about 5’ 10”. But it would be too low anyway, even if we were 6’5”.

I have a headboard. The footboard is just corner posts. Two posts that curve around the corner of the bed, it keeps the duvet tucked but not tight like a soild footboard. I have I throw blanket tossed over for easy access if I'm cold.

Headboard and footboard. Just this Sunday, we removed the footboard so can watch tv in bed if I/we want. Otherwise, it's in the way.

We have an adjustable bed frame. We can raise the head or the knees or both. When I had surgery and had to sleep on an incline I raised the head to a comfortable height and then raised the knees just enough to keep me from rolling over. Worked like a charm and was very comfy. We got the adjustable frame free when we bought a new mattress a few years ago. Best purchase ever!

If you don't mind your feet being tucked in try short sheeting your bed so the fold in the top sheet is where you want your feet to be stopped.
