My cat will roll on his back and push his tummy out to get belly rubs.
What about your cat? Does your cat

Pippin does, she sits in the most undignified position to get belly rubs, it is her preferred way to be loved. She has an amazingly soft polka dot tummy, so I am happy to oblige. Jo Buttons does a little, Boo not at all.

One loves them…rolls over like a dog. The other is not a fan.

One loves them sometimes, sometimes he bites me. The other one tolerates them sometimes, sometimes he bites me.

Mine likes it sometimes. Her belly is so soft, I love it when she lets me 💕

My cat tolerates them. My son's cat is living with me until it is cool enough to ship her; I think she likes the idea of a belly rub but will bite me if I try. It is funny in the theatrical way she will flop down and show her belly but any attempt to rub it will get a bite. She is a tease!

Mine does but only from me. He barely tolerates them from DH. It's only recently he'll accept them from one DS. The other, he largely ignores.
I'm his person.

Nope, none of my three remaining cats will tolerate it at all. They only allow head, neck, back, and chin rubs. Anything else will get you bleeding somewhere.

So funny that you asked!
My 22 yr. old graduated, has a job (nurse) and rents an apt. with here college roommate. They adopted a cat a few weeks ago. The cat has been with us until my daughter gets the paperwork turned into the apt.
I have never had a cat or been a cat lover. But I don't want my daughter to take her cat home! I love him! And he loves belly rubs. I asked my husband an hour ago if all cats like that (he grew up with cats). So fun to read this thread and learn about cats. I was clueless.

My two girls love a belly rub. They’ll stretch out and go belly up when someone coos at them and gives them some love. The boys tolerate a belly rub. Usually only if they’re very sleepy.

Midnight (18-ish) will tolerate them but prefers chin rubs
Little Friend (almost 12) will kill you if you think about it
Tabby(11) is confused by petting in general - he likes attention but doesn't quite know how to react when he's getting some
Mini (11) will take petting anyway he can get it and if that means a belly rub...so be it.
Paddington (4m) will tolerate so far
Dusty (3.5m) loves them

My cat is only a whore for me. No one else is allowed to touch his belly.
The other 2 will rip your arm off,

Yes. He runs into the bathroom and throws himself down on the floor in front of you to get them.
It started in the mornings with Dh, but he's expanded to any one, any time.

Awww, this thread is making me miss my kids' cats! We recently became true empty-nesters and kitty-free all at the same time. I have mixed feelings about the cat-free part, LOL.
DD's cat now lives with her after DS & I flew her across the country to her new home (she would not have tolerated the 10-day car trip when DD, her roommate, and roommate's dog drove out there for the move). That cat (Luna, just over 2 years old) only tolerates belly rubs from DD, and then only when/if she is in the mood.
We just moved DS and his cat into his college apartment over the weekend, so we'll still see Basil (1 year old) occasionally (school breaks, Christmas, etc.) since DS's university is less than an hour away. She likes belly rubs a little bit, but mostly wants neck rubs!
I miss them both! (the kids AND the cats)!

Not a chance! Roo, aka The Panther, loves head scratches and back scratches but go near his belly and you are risking severe injury from the back claws. I don't even try anymore.

Cats have wildly different temperaments and I have no idea what influences it. My mum's cat would sooner claw your eye out than allow a belly rub. He just about tolerates a scratch behind the ear when it suits him but quickly lets you know with a swipe when he's had enough. For that reason, I would personally never own a cat. They're so unpredictable!

We have four cats and only one LOVES it, Otto one of our gray-and-white males. Only one ATTACKS when you even think about touching her belly: Sage, one of our tortie females (she also the only one that likes being picked up).

It's my dd's cat, he was a rescue and supposed to be temporary until she found him a new home. A year and a half later and he's still around. Dh is allergic so not thrilled, but Meatloaf is the sweetest cat ever so dh deals.
Anyway Meatloaf LOVES belly rubs and ALL the cuddles and pats he can get.

We don't have cats any longer, but when we did one was a belly rub whore. She wanted her belly rubbed constantly. The other hated it.

One does and regularly rolls over at my feet for one. The other cat thinks belly rubs signal fighting time, complete with bunny kicks.

not belly rubs exactly... Butters will lay on her back for skritches, but not belly skritches... more like in her chest / underarm areas. If we get too close to her belly, she will kick and be over it.
(Recently I've been watching a series of youtube videos on kitten rescue, and they do a LOT of work on socializing the kittens and they make SURE to turn them over and do a lot of petting and touching on their belly, feet, etc. Our cats were adopted when they were older, so I'm guessing they didn't get alot of that when they were little.)

Haha, neither cat enjoys them. They are head-only touchers and if you don't abide by this rule, you will bleed.

Many moons ago, my ex and I had 2 cats. Mandy, black cat from a rescue. She didn't mind them until she was fixed, then you could not go near her tummy. You could pet her anywhere else, but don't go near her tummy. Jeremy, the Siamese, he LOVED them; LOVED them. They were his catnip. After 5 minutes of a tummy rub, he was in a trance. He was quite the cat. I miss him.
