My DH tested positive today. I tested negative and we are able to quarantine separately, and have since he tested. But tonight my nose is starting to stop up so I’m sure I’ll test positive next.
So if I test positive, do we still need to stay in separate parts of the house or is there any point in that?
So far his symptoms are super mild. He has had a low grade fever off and on and said he just feels groggy. I felt fine until about 9:30 pm. Now I have one itchy eye (left) and left side of my nose slightly stopped up. But when my allergies flare it always starts in my left eye.
All prayers and positive thoughts appreciated!

If you are both positive, there is no need to stay away from each other.
When it hit our household, the three positives took over the upstairs level and DD (negative) moved downstairs. She had control of the kitchen and kept us fed.
ETA If you don't already have one, I recommend getting a pulse oximeter to keep an eye on your oxygen levels. Hope it continues to be a mild case for your household.

Here's a chart that may help you tonight. I'm hoping you're just feeling allergies. Looks like a fever is one of the biggest differences.

Geez, that sucks. I hope it’s only allergies that’s troubling you and that your DH continues to have a mild case.

I hope you just have allergies mine have been bad lately. I keep hearing that with Delta many will have cold symptoms vs other variants. Many that have tested positive just thought they had allergies but at the same time it is that time of year so it could just be allergies. Hoping you just have allergies snd that your husband had mild symptoms snd recovers quickly.

Going to keep this handy, especially with all the corn crops starting to get cut down around me. I used to have a really good handle of my allergy symptoms. Then we moved to a more rural, farming area, right when COVID blew up. Now my allergies do weird things, especially in the fall. Twistedscissors- I hope your DH has a mild case, and if you to have it, the same for you

Sorry to be a bummer, but I think that chart is old Covid. New (Delta) covid very much has a runny nose and congestion aspect to it. I have known people that had positive lab tests after having only those symptoms.

I have known people that had positive lab tests after having only those symptoms. Yes the Delta variant common symptoms are stuffy/runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, cough. My dh has those symptoms as this is his allergy season. He tested negative. Also dh, ds, and I both run mild fevers sometimes with our allergies.

Even this is from earlier this summer, but it's what I use. It sucks because it looks just like a regular day for a lot of people.... minus the fever....but a lot of covid people never get a fever. My son had a runny nose; he typically has a couple of weeks of pretty decent fall allergies. I got him lab tested and then started him on allergy meds. His test came back negative and I will consider any residual sniffles to be allergies unless his symptoms or severity change. I'm unsure what else to do.

I have known people that had positive lab tests after having only those symptoms. You're correct. I've known of a few that have only has the runny nose and sneezing from the delta and it does confuse some that they also suffered from seasonal allergies. A headache can also be a symptom. A neighbour few doors down from me ONLY had a headache. Apart from the headache he felt fine. The only reason he got tested ( PCR)was because he can't ever remember having a headache and it was so unusual. Although he didn't think he had come into contact with a co-worker who did have Covidas they worked in different departments he thought he would be best yo get tested as a precaution. OP I hope it is your allergies but it's more than likely that it could very well be Covid. People that test positive are infectious for two or three days before any symptoms appear so the chances are they have already unknowingly passed it on and more so if you happen to live in the same house. It can be two or three days or even a little longer to come out in you so its as well to do another test.

Here's a chart that may help you tonight. I'm hoping you're just feeling allergies. Looks like a fever is one of the biggest differences. Note that with the newer mutations, nasal/sinus symptoms are seen more often than with the earlier variations.

This is the same study I found when I was deciding whether to get tested recently. I started taking zinc and the symptoms cleared up immediately, which is what happens if I zinc a cold fast enough, but still…damn Delta variant acting like a common cold now is wily. (Its wilyness, and hyper-transmissibility, is why we are foolish to assume that outdoor transmission is as rare as last year…or that child infection likeliness is as low as last year…or that school precautions should be the same - or more lenient! - than last year.) OP, hoping for mild and milder for you and your husband.

My ds had a breakthrough case recently and his main symptoms were tiredness and congestion (like sinus). He also ran a low grade fever (100 or less) for a couple days. He recovered quickly but still kept to his quarantined location for 10 days.
Hope you both feel better soon.
edit to add he also had a headache for a couple days..

Today we both feel fine. DH says he’s just groggy feeling. I feel completely normal. I got hot changing the bed this morning but it was more than likely a hot flash since I’m pre-menopausal. I took my temp and was actually slightly below normal. I’ve been cleaning the house ever since. Wiping door knobs every time he comes in the house and distancing from him also when he comes in. We have a separate building from the house, where he’s staying and sleeping, that is his game room/man cave but there’s no bathroom out there so he still has to come in at times.

Yay for feeling better!
Both my kids got quarantined last week on Tuesday, I didn't avoid them because I'm vaccinated and it's kinda impossible to not have contact with little kids. My DS (K) had been coughing and stuffy nose for over a week. We were giving allergy meds and they were helping but the cough got worse and his teacher sent him home, DH had to leave his job site and get him. Same day my DD (5th) said her throat hurt at the end of the day. Got home at 5:30 and she was running a 99 fever. When she went to bed, she was 102. BOTH kids got COVID tested the next day (wednesday) with a PCR test. We got results back Saturday- both negative. Thankfully. While they were home sick (dad was able to be home with them), I was continuing to go to my classroom at teach 6th-8th grades. We are all masked at school other than lunch and recesses.

Here's a chart that may help you tonight. I'm hoping you're just feeling allergies. Looks like a fever is one of the biggest differences. I think the symptoms for breakthrough delta cases are different. Eye “pain” is a common early symptom, and I definitely had it. Felt like eye strain…not itchy. I had a headache, congestion and cough. I may have had a low-grade fever, but I was taking Tylenol non-stop for the headache, so who knows. 🤷🏼♀️ I definitely did nit have the chills or high fever like I did after my vaccine. And I never lost my smell or taste. ETA: I had a really bad sore throat. Just when we think we know what to expect—the flip gets switched.
