Afterpay is a great way to get those crafty supplies you want NOW, but may not have enough $$ to pay for it all NOW. With afterpay, you pay 25% of the purchase price up front, and then 25% every 2 weeks for 3 more payments. Celebrate AFTERPAYDAY with KatScrappiness starting today Sept 9 until Sept 12, use code AFTERPAYDAY for 15% off your purchase.

idk. Feel like if I can't afford something as non-essential as scrapbook supplies then I shouldn't be using something like this.

So it is a bit like a credit card. Do you pay extra for the service?
I am with the other posters that I don't buy things (except my house/vehicle) that I don't have the money for at that time. I'll use my credit card for the points, but I pay that card off every month.

If you miss a payment, interest and charges applies.

There are a couple of versions of it through different companies - it shows up in certain shop checkouts. I think there's usually a minimum amount you can spend to split the payment. I'd be worried about losing track of how many things I'd spread out over what time frame - I'm not sure if you end up with another statement to monitor or if it's just hitting your paypal or credit card automatically... could get into trouble if you used it often. I wouldn't use it for anything less than a die cut machine or some other big investment (that I knew I could afford). If a company is trying to get you to use it by offering an incentive it means they know it will enable you to spend more/buy more frequently... or the afterpay company is offering an incentive to the retailer (and again, they are earning money somehow - nothing is free). Here's how it works: finty.com/us/business-models/afterpay/Personally I don't use credit if I can possibly avoid it, not even free credit.

I've used it a time or two, for bigger purchases that were on a (really) good sale. It hits your credit card automatically, you can manage the payments and pay them off early and I think you can also move them to a later date (like within a week or so), but there's a charge for that?
I'm pretty sure that retailers who use it do so because people paying with that method tend to spend more if they know they can spread it out over 4 payments.

I'd rather try to wait for an honest sale and pay for the item up front.

Personally, we do not want credit cards, we have one for emergency only and I love the Afterpay (QuadPay, Sezzle, Klarna) options some stores offer. This promotion is from Afterpay as part of their "Afterpay Days" this weekend, and since KatScrappiness does have the plan as part of her checkout availability it helps those that do not wish to use credit cards for whatever reason of their own. And the vendor (KatScrappiness) does pay Afterpay for the service a percentage of the orders, the person buying using the service does not, unless they do not pay when the payment is due, but that is in the terms and conditions agreed to with Afterpay.

debt is debt imo whether it's an installment plan or a credit card. And personally I prefer to avoid debt whenever possible - we have a mortgage - that's it. No credit cards, no car notes, no installment plans...if we can't pay for it with cash on hand (debit) then we can't afford it right now. And that's okay - there's nothing wrong with deferred gratification.

Yes, I have used Afterpay a number of times over the last couple of years. I get paid monthly, so it's kind of pointless for me to use it often. A few times I have used it when I am a week or so away from payday, and I want to buy something on sale but don't have the money in my spending account. Then I usually pay it off early as soon as I get paid. I've never been slugged for late payments or interest on it.
I can see that it would be very dangerous for some people, and of course it's often low income people who get caught out with things like this.

I've seen it offered as a payment option, on a few different websites.
Personally, since I prefer to pay in full, at the time of a purchase. If I couldn't pay in full, I would go without that purchse, unless it were absolutely necessary(like >> car repair, medical for my cat or myself).

I tried it for the first time this summer. They have a website so you can keep track of your payments, also they will message you before they take a payment out. I had it taken from my debit card, that way I didn't have to use a credit card and I did not pay any interest because my payments were on time.

I have been using Afterpay and Latitude on and off for a couple of years now. We usually use it when we have a big purchase that we want to break the payments down for such as my kids laptops for when they went into high school or for things that I have had my eye on for a while but don't have the upfront cash for it. An example of that is when a store online here in Australia was clearing out the silhouette cameo 3 before the 4 came out, I didn't have that kind of upfront money but I could afford to pay it off over 4 payments.
They all have different payment terms, some are weekly and some are fortnightly, you can pay extra if you want. I used to use lay-by all the time when the kids were little at the department stores and this is just kind of an upfront lay-by, I can see how it could people into a lot of trouble managing payment schedules though.
