New poll comes out where 36% claim believing dumpster don won the 2020 election is very important to them as Republicans. Another 23% claim it’s somewhat important. That’s 59%. CNN PollThe majority of those who identify as Republicans believe they have a better chance of winning in 2024 if trump runs. I’m speechless, I just don’t get it.

The destabilization of truth is worrisome. It is reasonable to think critically and not to simply accept something without examining it. It is not reasonable to treat facts as religion or to say “since sometimes things change with more examination and information there is no such thing as truth.”

I cling to the idea (fact?) that we're not divided 50/50 in this country by democrat vs. republican. I think there are more smart, level headed reasonable people but loud and stupid trumps (ha!) them just by nature.
So if the country is, just say, 65% democrat and 35% republican, those numbers aren't as bad as they look.
I have to tell myself that just to not lose hope.

It’s more like 35/35 with the remaining 30 somewhere in the middle. But yeah. It’s not as bad as it sounds when you’re talking about a percentage of a minority group. There’s a Jason Isbell song I love called The High Road. Total jam for anyone exhausted after five years of this crap. In the bridge he sings, “There can’t be more of them than us, there can’t be more …” It’s like a mantra when I feel surrounded by crazy, selfish people.
