Apparently Biden has told Schumer and Pelosi that he’s ready to put pressure on the holdouts to get voting rights legislation passed.
I do wonder what’s taken him so long, but it’s nice to have the confirmation. I’ve been told here on this very board that it can’t be done. 🙄
Someone else can mark this politics if they want. I’m punk rock today and not following any rules. 😂

Appearing on MSNBC's "The Sunday Show" with host Jonathan Capehart, the co-chair of WV Can't Wait dropped the hammer on Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) for blocking a desperately needed stimulus bill that would provide welcome relief to his constituents. *** "Look, here's the secret that every West Virginian knows: Joe Manchin, the rest our congressional delegation, they do not represent the working people of West Virginia," he accused. "They never have, they never will. That's because, up until now, you don't win high office in West Virginia because you serve the people; you win high office in West Virginia because you serve Exxon, because you serve out-of-state landowners, bankers and corporate lawyers."www.rawstory.com/joe-manchin-obstruction/

I’ll find it and watch. Any time that Manchin gets confronted is a good day.

CNN's Dana Bash throws charges he's 'bought and paid for by corporate donors' in Joe Manchin's face Tom Boggioni September 12, 2021 A combative Sen. Joe Manchin (D) defended himself on CNN's "State of the Union" after host Dana Bash repeated accusations made by a fellow Democrat that he is in the pocket of big business and lets them write policies and legislation. *** (In reference to AOC talking about his connections with Exxon and big oil etc vvvv.) Absolutely not, " he shot back. "I keep my door open for everybody. That's totally false. Those type of superlatives, it's just awful, that continue to divide, divide. I don't know that young lady really well. I met her one time between sets but that's it. We've not had any conversations. she's speculating and saying things." "She's not the only one," Bash parried. "I'm sure you've heard a number of fellow Democrats say you're opposed to this because you're bought and paid for by corporate donors." www.rawstory.com/joe-manchin-donors/

Like Finnick from the Hunger Games, if you know the skeletons... Maybe Biden was preoccupied with other items and pushes it back a little...I can hope, right? I've started writing my senators (both D) and congressman (asshole) calling them all out.

Let’s have some of that energy. I don't think it's that easy w/Manchin. I have no doubt he'd turn GOP and we'd lose the majority.

Add to that he is in the pocket of Republican gas & oil donors which will pay handsomely for him to stop the forward movement of the Democratic agenda because they see it as a threat to their livelihood. Doesn’t matter if it’s the $3.5T infrastructure plan or the VRA part two. Can’t have all those Democrats voting for solutions to climate change.

If he’s going to keep voting with the Republicans, what good is having him on our side? Let him show what he is. The people of West Virginia elected a Democrat, twice. If that’s not what he is, let him show it. Biden and Schumer can also deny WV funding for projects that Manchin would campaign on in 2024. The DNC can run a primary candidate against him. It can also run a massive voter turnout campaign - less than half of West Virginians turned out in 2018. They can even go so far as to pressure Exxon, which relies a lot on federal goodwill for its profits. Clearly Biden thinks he’s got something he can use to pressure them. Or at least he’s willing to make the attempt instead of hanging Texas and other red states out to dry as some of y’all would like.

I have to say I’m with @zingermack on this one. No matter how useless and annoying Manchin can be, better we keep him a Democrat. You think things are bad now? Just wait till Mitch McConnell is majority leader again.

Just wait till Mitch McConnell is majority leader again. And lots of hearings on Afghanistan, probably Benghazi level. Probably no possibility of a Democratic nominee for the SC if a vacancy opens. And Manchin is tap dancing on my last nerve. But it’s still better than Republicans running the show.

Well, we can all hope Biden has something on him or something to use as leverage. Manchin is not doing us any good at all. And I still don't understand how Mitch kept Collins and Murkowski under his thumb, but Schumer can't do the same with Manchin and Sinema. It seems to be the Democrats' great failing. We're afraid of our own shadows, it seems.
I at least find it hopeful that Biden has reportedly brought it up.

I know that Mitch is ruthless, and sometimes I wonder if Schumer is too nice. I have no basis for it, but I do wonder. Time to turn the screws on Manchin and Sinema.
