Just looking through my FB feed, and saw a post by Scrapbook and Cards Today that showcased……
Paper Dolls.
I kept all my paper doll dies, etc., because I figured the grandkids could have fun with them, but I’ve been scrapbooking since 1996, and card making/paper crafting for at least 10 years longer, and it really seems like a lot of trends come back (or someone tries to bring them back) eventually.
What they showed were paper dolls as part of 3D paper gingerbread house scenes, which can understandably go together.
This is why I rarely purge my paper craft supplies.
Any other old trends that have made a comeback, just repackaged?

I recently saw a Halloween embellishment idea where they used felt stickers from Dollar Tree to add to a Sizzix paper doll.

I've been wanting rub-ons again. I think I have a few modern ones so I'm going to search them out in my stash. I used them so much back around 2007 and loved them. They seemed to be everywhere back then.

I hope certain type stickers make a come back....
Graffiti style, larger words, less cutesy, more adult (nights out, dinner out, High School reunion, etc..), day to day life (grocery shopping, drive thru, Library, laundry, car wash, etc...).
Many of the stickers sheets, various brands, that I've seen lately have small stickers....reminscent of sticker sneeze.

I bought scallop scissors back in the 90's, I have seen them go in and out of style a few times since then. It pays to be a scrapbooker, my daughter just told me before bed that she needs to bring her kindergarten picture to school tomorrow for the high school yearbook. I knew right where it was, my house may be a mess but my pictures are organized.

Paper tearing has definitely made a comeback! I've really noticed this. And I saw Shimelle used deco scissors on her latest (?) youtube live video (and I still use mine semi-regularly, I have two sizes of scallop that I love and can't get in a border punch).

Night Owl I recently had to use my scrapbooks to verify when my son started working at his current job. He couldn't remember which month be started and it was easier to flip back in my PL album for that year and be all like "yup you started in March" 😄

I can't speak for longevity though. www.dollartree.com/crafters-square-themed-rub-on-transfers/300731

That cartridge was what got me to break down and buy a Cricut. I still have it, too. I also still have my decorative scissors. Everything in my hoard stash represents potential, even the old stuff. I love potential, even if I don’t always make use of it.

I don’t think I have ever de-stached a scrapbook tool LOL.
Patterned paper? Yes. Embellishments? Yes. Those items are too trendy, and if I no longer like the look/color/design, I have no problem getting rid if it.
But someone is always coming up with new ways to use tools, and since I’ve already made the investment, I’ll hang onto it for as long as I have room to store it.

I never destash my tools but the “what was I thinking” paper I often move on to a new home 😂

I have seen quite a few pages recently that are using thin strips of paper on them, it does make wonder if we will see a resurgence of border stickers/strips and I am all for that as I have tons and tons from the last time they were trendy that I never used. I have also been pulling out my border punches a lot more lately, not sure if its a subconscious thing because I have been seeing more scalloped or decorative edges or not but I am glad I never got rid of those. A few moths ago I pulled out my old orange fiskars stencils that had not seen the light of day in a very looooong time and that made me chuckle a bit. Seeing as layout templates are coming back out why not shape templates too, anything is possible

In that case I look forward to being on trend again, I'm currently trying to bash my pile of branding strips/border stickers/12" washi strips.

Not that I haven’t gotten rid of things over the years (25ish years), but I have a big variety in my stash. I don’t worry about trends, and don’t care what’s in style at the moment. Mostly, I get rid of things I won’t use anymore because I’m done with that theme or stage of life. I don’t have anymore school stuff, no baby stuff, etc.
I went to a large crop this weekend and I was loving that people were using deco scissors again. And I taught a friend how to use eyelets again, she forgot how, and knew I use them.

I stopped caring about the trends years ago, and trying to imitate the style of others doesn’t give the same satisfaction as creating a page based on my own style. I used to be really good with the decorative scissors, but it’s not really my style anymore. I’m not surprised they’re making a comeback, too. Seems like everything does eventually.
