My internet company (Charter) just switched over to a new email system that is just awful (think you're first experience with AOL and what it would be like now kind of awful). The plus side is that I can now type and send emails (yes...their old system had a bug - for years - that wouldn't let you backspace in an email and just recently developed one that wouldn't let you type in an email 80% of the time). I'm done putting up with their subpar product and I really need to switch over to a new system. I've used Yahoo before and it's OK and I have a gmail account for my cellphone, but I don't really love either one for a few different reasons. Are there any other options out there that you can recommend? I want to be able to sort my emails by name/date/size, have multiple folders to sort things into and has a reasonable size limit (or unlimited space). Help please.

Gmail.
I think it is by far the best. I have had my account since it was in beta testing. never been hacked never had an issue.
My daughters account has had attacks on it gmail has always caught it and we were able to keep it from being hacked.

Thank you ladies. My only real concern with gmail is the data mining that Google is famous for. Maybe I need to not put so much thought into the process and go with gmail since I already have an account. I've never looked at it on my computer (I've only checked the few emails I get from Evernote and Google Play on my phone).

I use Yahoo (two accounts) and GMail. I have different accounts for different things - regular normal everyday stuff, junk sign ups and purchasing and phone stuff.

I have a decades old aol account I use to sign up for websites or give to businesses. A yahoo account for personal stuff and a gmail for school related stuff.

Gmail. All of the staff accounts at DS's school have even switched over to it (Google for Schools).

I like Gmail best, but I have also still use my Hotmail account I set up in 1997. Both platforms work well for me. I keep the Gmail for personal and business contacts and the Hotmail for junk mail. I figure pretty much any email or interaction on the internet is going to result in data mining and a lack of privacy, that's the trade off we have for free services and the convenience of the internet.

I spent yesterday trying out gmail and trying to get it to import my Charter without success. I wasn't crazy about labels instead of folders but I tried it anyway. In the end, after doing a little more research, I ended up switching to Outlook.com. It has all the features I wanted, unlimited storage and it imported by Charter account perfectly - folders and all. I can sort emails by date, size, sender, etc. And the best feature - I can recover something I've accidentally deleted after I've emptied the trash! It was seamless and easy! Just thought I'd share in case anyone else was looking for a little more functionality in their email.

I'm actually liking my AOL. Since I use it on my phone, (iPhone ) I've found that AOL works better for me than other services I've tried. The feature I like most that doesn't work well with the others I've tried is the deleting or storing of emails. If I delete an email or move it to a specific folder from my phone, it's done no matter where I next access my email. Optonline is the worst, for various reasons but it was highly annoying to clean out my email on my phone and then open my account on my computer and nothing is deleted. I know people who actually prefer that because they randomly delete emails from their phone and then access them later on their computer, but I don't. My second choice is Gmail.
