DH and I are car shopping today - mainly to see what I love as I haven’t really looked at new cars in 6 years since I bought my last car.
I am looking for a small suv-ish type vehicle. Leather and loaded on the inside. I will own this car for about 5-6 years and put about 40k miles on it most likely. We won’t do much out of town traveling in it, at all. So mainly a ‘grocery getter’ and going to dinner. No kids to worry about fitting but my DH is 6’4 so he needs leg space somewhat.
What are you driving that you love? Hate?
I currently have a BMW and that is not an option that we are willing to consider again.
I’m in the car driving with DH so I will come back and read responses later.

I drive a Lexus GX. I like that it not so wide and there are sensors in the front and back of the car. No backing into things.

I also drive a BMW, but DH has a Honda CRV that I really, really like. It is loaded, and very comfortable. And a dream to drive as there are a lot of sensors. I feel very safe in it.

I am on my 4th Lexus. Currently have a 2018 RX350L. Love it!! Hubby has a 2018 Audi Q7. Both have had zero issues.

I love my CRV. It's a great car, has all of the latest bells and whistles and drives so well.
2 of my friends love their Forresters.
You could look at the Acura RDX or MDX, but you're getting a similar car from Honda w/a smaller price tag.
Good luck.

Lexus GX 460. Awesome car! Easy to drive, very comfortable, with no issues in the 7 years I've had it. I recently put new tires on it and regular maintenance is all I've done (other than having hail damage repaired). Mine is a 2015 and DH wants me to start considering a trade, but I'm refusing for now because they don't make my Champagne color now.
The other car I seriously considered was the Toyota Landcruiser. The only reason I didn't go with that was I hated the 3rd row jumpseats they had (have owned hardtops in the past so that is from experience). Just took a look at the 2022 Landcruiser and they have gotten rid of that. In fact, the interior of the 2022 looks almost identical to my 2015 Lexus! Everyone I know who has owned/owns a Landcruiser is very happy with them. Great car, just more expensive than the GX 460.
DH is 6'2 and built like a linebacker. He has plenty of room in the car and we are not crowded at all when we are both in there. Has the third row, but mine has only been up twice. According to DH, it tows better than any vehicle he's used before. Says it's like nothing is behind him.
If you want to step down in size, then look at the Mercedes Benz GLE 350. DD traded her Audi sedan for one last summer. It's a fantastic car that meets your specs. It should also hold your DH. DH and DD have taken it on two road trips to Colorado and had plenty of room. I like that you sit up a bit higher, but don't have to climb in the way you do with a larger SUV. It's on my list to consider if/when I decide to downsize from the Lexus GX.

I loved the Mercedes GLE, and also the smaller GLC, but ultimately went with the Tesla as I really wanted all electric. I see the faults in the Tesla so unless you really want electric, and speed (I LOVE the acceleration, lol), I would definitely consider the Mercedes. Looked at the Porsche but it was like an airplane cockpit inside with all the buttons and dials. The iPace is nice but my DH had a F-Type and the Jaguar service was horrible. My friend loves her Range Rover, but again, Jaguar service.

It’s not luxury I’d say but I have the new Toyota Venza which is a small SUV AWD that gets 40mpg. I have the Limited with leather, amazing moon roof that goes from sheer to opaque with a touch and I just love it.
I also drove multiple Lexus but this car was the best, Next I would probably get a Tesla.
Oh my sister drives the Jaguar e-pace and it is amazing.

We’ve enjoyed my mom’s Acura MDX and RDXs. I don’t love my brother’s Audi, but they really like it.
We don’t have what I’d consider “luxury” brands, but we are currently driving a loaded 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and a 2021 Toyota RAV4 hybrid (semi-loaded)
Both are the size you are probably looking for and we enjoy driving both. Plenty of room and comfortable. My dh loves the self-drive feature of the RAV4 but he puts on a lot of highway miles.
I mostly drive the Jeep and love it so far. We had a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited years ago and it was a great suv then too.

My friend loves her Range Rover, but again, Jaguar service. While it does look like that, it is SUPER easy to navigate. I had a Volvo XC90 followed by a BMW X5, and now my Porsche Cayenne S. LOVE it. I purchased it new 6 1/2 years ago, and it still looks brand new, and it has never had a problem. I generally never keep cars this long but I love it and am in NO hurry to trade it. I told hubby when I do trade, I may move down to the Porsche Macan S. But I do love the size of my Cayenne. We are car people, and LOVE cars. Try the 'S' model out pulling out on the freeway. You can go 0-60 in a millisecond, and I love the sound of my engine. Ha ha.

My good friend has a Cadillac XT5 that is a wonderful SUV and smaller. I have a loaded Chevy Traverse that I love, but it is probably bigger than you want/need.

I currently drive a Land Rover LR4, my husband has a Range Rover sport supercharged and my daughter has a Range Rover supercharged. We love them all. My husband is 6’2” and finds them all very comfortable. Gas consumption sucks but it sounds like you won’t be doing a ton of driving? We don’t get them serviced at the dealership so I can’t speak to the Jaguar/Land Rover service experience. We have an incredible local mechanic we use.
We’ve been loyal Land Rover customers for many years and will probably always own at least one. However, I’ll admit the Maserati SUV is turning my head. The sound of that engine is incredible.

Range Rover? I love the look of them but know ZERO.
I adore my Charger. Fully loaded. BUT it's not an SUV or crossover so not throwing it in the ring.
We have a Sequoia fully loaded and it's AMAZING.

I have an Infiniti QX60 with all the 'stuff' inside and I really like it. It's on the larger size of SUVs (has a third row), but if I didn't need that size, I'd definitely consider one of the smaller Infiniti SUVs. I had a Volvo XC90 before this and I much prefer the Infiniti.

I have a Honda Pilot that I just got in July. I love it! It has everything I would want!
My Mom has a little older Mercedes, and I'm not really a fan. She likes it ok, but she says she wouldn't get one again. Before that she had had MANY Cadillacs...I loved those!

I always had a Volvo after I began having my children. I evolved to a Ford Windstar SEL. It had EVERYTHING in it back then. It handled wonderfully and seemed so luxurious after having my Volvos! I loved it!!
Hope you get what you want. That's my dream, to have a smaller SUV. I'd love the luxury version, but I'd be happy with a Ford Edge right now. Not gonna happen. I REALLY wanted to try to get rid of our 2017 Nissan Altima and get into even a 2019 Ford SUV, but it didn't work out. Darn!
Enjoy it when you get it and let us know which one you ended up with.

If you go Lexus or Acura you will have better luck with repairs, repair costs and parts availability should anything go wrong. But both are super reliable so not much goes wrong.
DH always tells people who buy Audi, BMW or Porsche to put away extra cash for repairs and/or consider getting the extended warranty. Stay away from Land Rover. Be aware too that many of the uber luxury brands have weird things that require you to go to a dealer (and only a dealer) for certain services/repairs including what may seem simple like an oil change. Tesla for example. So be sure to look at that.

I just bought a Hyundai Kona. It’s a subcompact SUV. I love it. I got the Limited trim package so it has all the things. Great safety and reliability ratings, zippy to drive, and easy to park in tiny urban parking lots. It has leather and a sunroof, a good audio system, and phone projection for onscreen navigation and music. Lane sensors and anti-collision sensors front, back and side. Seat heaters, too, but they’re not as important to me in Houston. It gets great gas mileage.
My 6’5” husband fits in the front seats just fine. I think the back would be short on leg room.
It’s luxurious to me! LOL

I recently got a 350 GLE and am very pleased. Ride is smooth and quiet and I love it. It fits what you need and is quite roomy.
Had a 300 as a loaner when I got my windows tinted and it was zippier (likely because it was smaller).
When I got mine back, I loved it all over again.

Lincoln Navigator. I know it's not small but we love ours. Plus your husband would have tons of room.

I have had Mercedes (before they were made by Chrysler) and several models of Lexus SUVs, last was a RX350L. Needed something more responsive and more powerful than the Lexus RX. I recently got a Volvo XC90 and it is the best SUV I have ever owned. Has great power, viability, pick-up, responsive, spacious and nice build quality.
Not knocking Lexus at all, beautifully finished, dependable, superb service, very floaty and quiet ride but just a bit too sluggish for my needs.

I finally gave up my trusty 2014 Toyota Highlander and got a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee last weekend. Neither would qualify as luxury, but both are loaded and great cars. I was really trying to hang on to the Highlander for another year, but I'm now traveling a ton for work, mostly through rural areas, and the mileage was getting too high for comfort. There are no deals to be had with supply line issues, but I did snag 0% financing, and I thought the extras on the Jeep were great for the price point.
I'll miss the air-conditioned seats I had in the Highlander, but otherwise, I'm loving the bells and whistles on the Grand Cherokee like Car Play, remote start, and lane assist/collision avoidance. Also, the dealer said all new cars have the automatic ignition shut off at stoplights--who knew? I had only encountered this in a rental. The Grand Cherokee is a little smaller than the Highlander, but sits up higher, which I like, and definitely has a tighter turning radius and gentler steering. I *think* the dealer said it was built on a Mercedes chassis, but I could totally have that wrong. The Highlander was a tad zippier (I would accidentally peel out all the time at first), but the pickup on the Jeep is more than adequate. I haven't played around much with the sport mode on the Jeep because it's a button and not on the shifter, but I used it all the time on the Highlander in traffic. Comfort-wise they're pretty comparable.
