Sweet potatoes are on my list of things to contribute to the Thanksgiving dinner this year. I love sweet potatoes, but we have several 'non sweet potato fans' that will be eating with us. Is there a recipe that, once tasted, would make them change their minds?

Tyler Florence Mama Sweet Potatoes are amazing! I've been directed to bring them each year to Thankgiving AND make some for home because they're so good.

Only 3 of us eat them so I'm going simple this year. I'm just going to cut them in chunks and roast with olive oil, salt and pepper.

I cut them in chunks, add butter, maple syrup and brown sugar and roast them. Divine but a million calories.

I mash and whip mine up with butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and an egg--oh and a little orange juice. I top half with a pecan streusel topping and the other half with little marshmallows.

I bake mine then scoop out pulp. Mix pulp with OJ , 2 eggs, vanilla extract and 1/2 cup sugar. Put in a casserole dish and top with mini marshmallows. Good and not too sweet.

This is how I like them...maybe throw some onion in there when they're roasting. When I've had sweetened versions, I always thought that the added sweetener fought with the natural sweetness.

I peel and chop them into pieces then put in a buttered casserole dish then top with chunks of butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. I bake that for about an hour until tender. So yummy and easy. Sometimes I will add marshmallows the last 10 min but not always.

I mix some melted butter, brown sugar and bourbon and pour over chunks of sweet potatoes in a casserole dish then top with some oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, walnuts and top with pats of butter and bake until top is crunchy.

I peel and slice into 1/4" rounds, then line them in a 9x13 pan slightly overlapping. In a small bowl, I whisk, brown sugar, real maple syrup, molasses, apple juice and a bit of cinnamon. Pour over the potatoes bake covered at 375F for 25 minutes, then turn them over and bake covered 25 minutes then the cover off and bake an additional 15 minutes. So good. No marshmallows, no pineapple, no red hot candies, no butter, no cream. I got the recipe from Sunset Magazine in 1995.

My aunt makes them with a cornflake, coconut, nut streusel topping that everyone really likes. I am allergic to nuts, so I can't have it, but it sure looks tasty!

I like mine all mashed up with some marshmallows or pecans thrown in. My MIL just throws thick slices of sweet potato in a pan and sautés them, though, and they're delicious that way, too.

The recipe I use is very similar to this one. I grew up in the south, land of marshmallow topping to sweet potato casserole but was introduced to the yumminess that is the pecan topping. It's like eating dessert with dinner.

I love sweet potato casserole similar to what Renny makes. But my mom and older brother will only eat theirs out of a can cooked with butter and brown sugar. Usually we have both and will have leftovers to take home.

Love the pecan topping as an adult, but just can't give up the marshmallows that's why we do both. : )

We are a divided family.

Is there a recipe that, once tasted, would make them change their minds? no. Make a great sweet potato casserole to please yourself, but don't expect us non sweet potato eaters to eat it. You'll just be disappointed. I do appreciate the thread though. I don't eat the sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving but I have to bring them to the in laws this year. Looks like there are some great recipes here.

Anybody else make sweet potato pie? I make it every so often for Thanksgiving...I think this year might be one of them.

Poke them with a fork and bake them and eat like regular potatoes. Yummy.

This^^^ Once I discovered this recipe, I never looked back. Me, too! This one is better to me because it's very rich but not as sweet as others I've had. I like the orange / cinnamon / nutmeg combo. I never liked the marshmallow, "desert for dinner" kind Thanks for linking the recipe, @devildog! I was on my phone earlier and too lazy to do it.

I just dice mine and add brown sugar, salt and pepper. My mom slices her's. The last time I made them I did bacon wrapped sweet potato bites for a potluck I like them all ways except maybe whipped or mashed.
