I’m sure answers will vary wildly, but I’m curious. 1. do you live in a city, small town, suburbs, or way out in the boonies 2. approximately how many SF do you have 3. what do they charge and how often do they come
I live in a large coastal city. My former house cleaner charged $135 for my 1150sf condo. She came every two weeks (when she showed up) and spent about 3 hours per visit. It’s just me, and I am a tidy person, so I think I’m a pretty easy customer.
My new house cleaner (who is supposed to be here in a few minutes) charges $175 per visit, every two weeks. I don’t know how long each visit will be yet. When I was looking into finding a new house cleaner(s) I got quotes up to $280 per visit (every two weeks) which I thought was outrageous.
Who’s next?

I lived in a 3000 sq ft house in a suburb and had a women who spent about 2 hours and charged $50! We only asked her to do the kitchen and the bathrooms and we’re pretty clean people. She retired and we moved to a smaller house and it’s so much easier to keep up with now, so we just clean ourselves.

I live in Spokane. We were paying our lady $25 an hr and it would take her 3 1/2 hrs usually, every 2 weeks. A couple months ago she said she was raising her rates to $30 and we decided to look elsewhere. We had been unhappy with her for the last few years and my DH really wanted someone else. He got a little sticker shock once we started looking lol. But he found someone pretty quickly (he did all the research and ad listing). We were going to have to pay $200 a month for our other lady (she gave us a small discount) and the new lady charges $40 an hr. She cleans in 3 hrs and does more! So for $40 more a month our house has been cleaner. Some things she does that the other didn’t do, clean the slider glass door and side lights on entry door, the baseboards in the rooms she cleans or vacuums the floors, dusts, high and low including the blinds and ceiling fans. She dusts all the Knick knacks and she wipes off all my little things I have on the bathroom counter (like my moisturizer bottle, perfume bottle). She runs through the house. Our other lady, I had to ask her specifically to do any of the glass or baseboards and she just wouldn’t clean them if she noticed they were dirty which drove me batty. Oh new gal, makes our bed, even if we’ve kind of made it up. We’ve been very happy. Oh sq ft that she cleans is probably 1800-2000? She doesn’t clean all our rooms. Mainly the master, 2 1/2 baths, living room, dining room, laundry and kitchen.

We have a lovely lady who comes for 2 hours fortnightly for that we pay $AU120 - house size about 2400 sq ft
She vacuums through,
mops the floors through,
cleans and mops 2 bathrooms,
cleans the kitchen and any dishes that are there (I try not to have any that need doing),
cleans the stovetop and wipes down oven front, backsplash and counter tops,
dusting, base boards and anything else she may feel needs doing.
She uses her own equipment and supplies all product at no extra cost to us.
I don't have her doing any laundry or tidying recycling. It is just DH, myself and our little dog living here now.

I pay $100 every 2 weeks. She and her mother are here about 2 hours. They are excellent, and I feel fortunate to have her. She does all the cleaning, but does not change the bed. Our condo is 2800 sq. Feet, and we live in the suburbs of an University town in the southeast.

Major City, 2,400 sq ft, $80/week - one person for 1/2 day each week. We pay her on a monthly basis and she is paid weekly even if she is sick or there is a holiday, as well as the 3 months or so covid shut the world down in 2020. She has been with us almost 20 years.

I only have mine cleaned every 3 weeks. I pay $150 per visit, but it would be cheaper if I increased the frequency. 2200sf, 2 sets of stairs, 3 baths, and 2 pets. They provide the cleaning supplies and equipment.

I have a 1200 sq ft ranch house. I have a full finished basement but I don't have them do anything in my basement. So basically they are just cleaning the upstairs which only has one bathroom.
I live in a city in Michigan. I pay $85 every two weeks.

Getting a quote today so we’ll see how inflation has impacted the cleaning industry 😉. Previously I believe I was paying $100 every other week for 3500sf took her 4 hours. We’d had various companies in the past and they were more like $125-150. Small rural town in Michigan.

City 2600 sqft. $80 for a full day, 9-5ish. She comes every 3rd week. She does two of the bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living-room kitchen and den.
This is very low and not normal for that much cleaning. Services here would charge $300 for that. Most individuals charge $20 or so an hour. I provide the cleaning supplies. I also always make or buy us a nice lunch and she doesn’t have a car so I drive her home. Her daughter drops her off in the morning.

$100 every other week 2400 sq ft. Live in the 'burbs of a smallish city There are two ladies who come, sister-in-laws. I really don't know how long they stay because they come after I leave for work. All I know is that they do a great job, the house smells great & sparkles and the sheets are changed. If it comes down to deciding between my husband or my housekeepers? My husband would be outta there! (I kid, I kid... kinda...)

She is me.

I’m in Vancouver, BC. I live in the centre of the city.
$125 every week for 5 hours 2400 sq ft. $25/hr
My prior woman charged me $80 every week for 4-5 hours.
175 seems expensive for 1100 square feet.

Wow, prices really are high here compared to y'all. I hope I love this woman's work. She's been here about 3 hours so far...not quite sure when she'll be ready to leave. I know some charge more for first cleaning and spend more time on detailed cleaning. Then, they know it's done and they can get on a maintenance schedule instead of detailed cleaning. Fifteen years ago, at our old house, we had someone come once a week. (Or maybe it was every other week) We moved a county over and didn't start the service back up because they didn't travel out here. I'm ready for it though!!

Good point styxgirl MichyM I did pay more for my first cleaning. She said she wanted to bring my house up to her standards before she started doing routine cleaning. She was here much longer and even cleaned the inside of my refrigerator. I paid $225 for that first cleaning.

I live in a small town outside Boston 3,000 sf $140 every 2 weeks Mother/daughter team stays for about 2.5 hours They bring all supplies
They've been my cleaners for about 6 years. They started lower than that, and I give them a yearly raise and a holiday bonus. I'm super happy with their work, and they're also incredibly nice. They were recommended by my last mother/daughter/aunt team who moved back to Poland.
