I have probably close to 25 purses (mostly Coach, some Kate Spade) I would to try and sell. I would like to get a decent return on them, but know that the market is probably flooded with them.
I am reluctant to sell locally online because the no-shows make me crazy.
Would a website like Poshmark work for this?

vintage coach is my absolute favorite! they truly don't make them like they used to. i've bought them some on both Ebay and Poshmark so I guess you could try those platforms. just make sure you post clear pics of the inside tag so people know what style and year they are getting (or it will indicate if the purse is pre-creed or pre-style number). I hope you come back and post a link. i would love to see what you have.

What do you consider old? Are you talking about the original Bonnie Cashin Coach bags, or the newer designs that showed up from 1993 onward? In 2006 there was a Legacy collection, where they brought back some of the original designs. I have one, and while nice, there is no comparison to the older original bags.
If they are the original Coach bags (pre 1993) in very good condition, they will be worth selling. You can check with eBay or the RealReal. Poshmark could work. If using eBay, definitely pay for their authentication service. It will save you grief on down the road when someone tries to claim you sold them a fake. Anything post 1993 will depend on the style and how much in demand it is now.
As for Kate Spade, bags that were produced prior to 2006 when she sold out to Liz Claiborne will be worth more generally.

My daughter says vintage purses are very hot right now but the Real Real might be better? She sells on Poshmark and Real Real and De Pop (?)

Do you happen to have one that is the tan/beige and pink colour combination? It's from a number of years ago ... I'm in Canada but I would be willing to buy one in that colour from you

the thing with vintage coach is that the market is glutted with them unless you have some of the truly desirable ones. that is what will drive the market price. there are a million Willis bags around but not that many Winnies or couriers. there are tons of black and brown purses but not as many red or olive green in great condition. tons of bags post 1994 but not a lot pre-creed or pre-style number. the Purse Blog has a great vintage coach section with lots of experts who can probably answer any questions you may have about selling.

I know what not to do - consignment. I've finally found a good consignment store to sell clothing and actually get something for it. I consider it fairly high end. However, I've tried a few bags and they either sell for very little or don't sell at all. I have 3 Coach bags I've bought at nice consignment stores at the end of their consignment periods. I never paid more than $40 each and at least one was only $30.
After selling all of my mother's things in various ways, I've decided to only buy what I absolutely love and assume I won't get any money back on my investment.
Good luck, I hope you find good way to sell them.

Mercari, Ebay, Poshmark are all good for that or the RealReal if you think they are higher value ones.

I’ve bought a Coach bag (1980s-1990s, made in the USA) on both Poshmark and eBay. The Real Real: more high end, so maybe the right fit for Coach 1960s-70s. Depop: younger buyers and a larger percentage of squirrel-ie sellers.
A lot of vintage Coach fakes show up online, either knowingly or unknowingly. You need to provide a good, well-lighted photo of the creed. Knowledgeable buyers look for legit serial numbers, yes, but also spacing, numeral shape, etc. Don’t be surprised if a prospective buyer asks for more photos. They either know what to look for or they’re getting it authenticated (e.g. The Purse Blog).
Good luck!

Please be careful. I've been reading about scams lately. Be suspicious if anyone asks you to go off platform, use Zelle/Paypal Friends and Family, or pay more but you pay for a gift card or return money to their nephew/daughter/cousin (the payment bounces but you still sent the gift card...). Don't accept any excuses for why they can't do a normal transaction.
