Spice cake, pumpkin pie and pecan pie all layered and frosted, topped with apple pie filling! “PieCaken is a three-layer cake with two pies inside. The bottom layer of this dessert is sweet pecan pie, followed by a layer of pumpkin pie and finally a spice cake layer. Both pie layers even have real pie crust. A rich and silky cinnamon frosting runs through each layer and covers the entire cake.” The top is decorated with fluted mounds of frosting and a dollop of fresh, apple pie filling. (It’s the dessert world’s answer to the turducken.) www.tasteofhome.com/article/piecaken-the-ultimate-thanksgiving-dessert/

LOL that’s been a thing for a while now! I remember seeing it advertised in a Cabela’s catalog at some point and thinking, “Hmm. Guess you really can have too much of a good thing!”

If one likes all of those particular flavors...then enjoy. My personal opinion, is that no part of my piece of apple pie should fraternize, be mixed in with, grouped in with or on a plate with.... any other piece of pie or cake. I want my piece of apple pie served on a plate by itself.

No, just no. Leave the pies and cakes alone, some things should just not be messed with.

Oh my! I think I just lost my breakfast! I love all of those but NOT together. One year I made a recipe that had a pumpkin pie inside of a spiced apple pie. It was a ton of work and wasn't that good.

Given a choice between piecaken or turducken, I'd pick piecaken. And don't even talk to me about Tofurkey.

Not for me. I love pumpkin and pecan pie, but not together.

jenjie I have made a Piecaken and it was good, but much more simple than what you described. I took a pecan pie (store bought, 6" size) and took off as much pie crust surrounding the top part of the pie off, to make it smooth. Made a chocolate cake batter. In a 9" springform pan, I put in the pecan pie (sans foil plate) and poured the chocolate batter all around the pie and baked the cake as usual. I made a whipped cream topping and chopped pecans and shaved chocolate on top. Everyone said that it was delicious. It wasn't a huge layered monstrosity but the size like a cheesecake.

No. Just no. Hell no.
I saw something like that featured on one of the Food network shows. My immediate reaction was bleh.
The only pie cake combination I will consider is the pecan pie cheesecake, which was just a plain New York style cheesecake topped with pecan pie filling.
I made one a few years ago and DH declared it the best thing ever. However, it was so insanely sweet that it took lots of people several days to eat it all.
Although I would rather have just a few bites of an incredibly decadent rich dessert than an entire slab of something mediocre.

My husband has been asking for this for literally years. I have stopped short 3 or 4 times of ordering it for his birthday. That price tag... ouch. The one in the article is $99, a bargain compared to the one my DH wants... $250! Turducken of Pie!

I've never had pecan pie, and I'm not mad keen on pumpkin pie, but I would totally eat a slice of offered one.

I’m getting a toothache just thinking about it, but I’d be willing to give it a try.

I can see a lot of people going for this! Not me but definitely my DH.
I saw a stuffed holiday cake at Costco. It has 4 different holiday flavor profiles in one cake and is the lovechild of one of those guys who have either been a contestant or judge (or both) on the Food Network shows. Price is much more reasonable at around $30 if anyone wants to grab one!
So, I just looked and I think it's the same guy who created the Piecaken, Zac Young.

Doesn't the pie crust get soggy when it's backed into cake batter? I really dislike soggy pie crust.

Ick. Nuts in dessert. Ick. Party poopers of the dessert world. This. Pecans, or any nuts, are gross. Having said THAT - the photos made this monstrosity look more appealing than the written description, and where it placed in front of me, I'd likely try the top two layers.

This is a great idea for those who want to say they only had one dessert! HAHAHA That would be ME! Seriously, if I were having guests for Thanksgiving, I'd be really tempted to order one, just for fun. If I ordered it this year, though, I'd end up eating the whole thing myself (eventually). I'm ashamed to say I think it looks tasty.

Turning pies into layers of a cake is a terrible waste of pie in my opinion. I love fruit pies. I love spice cake--if not heavily iced. But all in all, I don't like how much icing is involved with layer cakes and I definitely don't want any icing--cinnamon or not--on my precious pies. So, I say "No, Thank You" to both Turducken AND Piecaken.

I ordered a Christmas Piecaken last year. It was a LOT! Glad to say I had the experience, but wouldn’t order again.
