Just a quick PSA to remind you to move your turkey 🦃 to the fridge today to start thawing, or, if it is a smaller turkey you can move it tomorrow. 😀
Trying to help you avoid that awful moment when you go to remove the bag of giblets and you realize that the center of your turkey is still frozen solid!

Thanks! I had actually meant to do it before I went to bed last night, but I totally forgot. I just did.
I cook a smaller turkey but I find it’s still rather frozen on Wednesday night.

Thanks! I had a delayed Thanksgiving dinner last year b/c I forgot to thaw my turkey in time. It didn’t matter, but I’d like to be on time this year! Headed for the freezer….

It’s a 22+ and has been in since Thursday night. It usually needs a day longer than Butterball says.

I swear, when I used to cook a turkey it didnt matter when I took it out, it was always still frozen. Now we order a meal from a local restaurant and call it good. No more six hours of prep and cooking for four people to spend 20 minutes eating!

Thx! Every year the peas remind me. Otherwise I would be in trouble. You think after cooking turkeys for 30 years I would be more together.

Ha! We order ours from a company here and today was pickup day. It is sitting in the extra fridge (but it was never frozen). Dh is looking at turkey recipes online right now as if he doesn’t use the same one every year.

I moved mine tonight! It’ll need some help though, I swear it’s always got a frozen spot no matter what.

Thank you darlin'. Had my husband move both of them. Yeah, we cook 2 turkeys every year. They are between 20 and 22 pounds each. One get cooked in the oven after I brine it overnight, the other is cooked in peanut oil in a deep fryer outside. My DD is allergic to nuts and won't eat anything to do with peanuts. I'm proud of her. I know cold pressed peanut oil is supposed to be "safe" but we take no chances.

I haven’t even picked mine up yet. I did send that graphic to my sister though. She’s famous for not thawing her turkey soon enough.

Sent this info to my sister who always buys a big turkey. She did this year-30lbs.
She he didn’t take it out on time. So even having reminders doesn’t help her lol.

what if it is just a breast? do you follow the smallest turkey instructions? I think that yesterday would be good for a breast - bone-in or roast, because it will be in the oven on Thursday afternoon. If it still feel frozen on Thursday, a cold-water bath for a few hours will thaw it out.

My 14 lb turkey has been in the fridge since early Saturday morning and still feels pretty solid to me.
I’m thinking about cold water soaking it for a couple of hours tomorrow evening. Then pull it out, unwrap it, and pat it dry. Would it be ok in the fridge like this until I cook it on Thursday?

Would it be ok in the fridge like this until I cook it on Thursday? i put my turkey in a cooler with water and let it defrost off and on until I cook it, i would think that would be OK! when i just let it defrost in the fridge it seems to NEVER thaw.
