Did anyone else watch this series? I started watching it at night before bed because it was somewhat interesting, but relaxing, despite the number of deaths that occurred. I enjoyed the Wyoming scenery too. I just watched the final episode and it completely ruined the entire series for me. The main character, Sheriff Longmire, is portrayed as this man of rare integrity. He does his best to protect the people of his county, albeit with a ridiculously small department of only 3 deputies. The final show, something happened that was so out of character for the sheriff that it really bothered me. So much so that I wish I hadn't started watching it at all. Spoiler so that I don't ruin it if you haven't seen the final show. Did the fact that the sheriff and Vic slept together bother anyone else? First, their age. He was what, 20 plus years older? His daughter was Vic's age!
Second, she was his deputy! The show made it obvious that Vic had a crush on him the entire time. I considered it Daddy issues. He didn't ever respond. She just lost a baby and was vulnerable too.
There was one episode where he had been unconscious in the hospital and Vic kissed him, waking him up. To be honest, that grossed me out. That is her boss and her father's age. He didn't return the kiss, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it felt so wrong.
But in the final episode where they end up in bed was just disgusting to me. Plus, they had zero sexual chemistry. I honestly had to fast forward through it because I couldn't watch it. It felt so pervy.
Also, it really bothered me that Cady gave up on her dream to move to New York to practice law. She gave that up to run for sheriff because her dad told her to when he decided to retire? She had already spent a couple of years delaying her dream of working there right after graduating law school because her mom died so she moved back home to help her dad adjust. Now she was finally ready to move on and she is talked out of being an attorney to replace her dad as sheriff? That made no sense to me either.
The first 3 seasons of the show were interesting, but then it started to really drift. If I had known what they would do with that last episode, I would have never started this series. I don't know if this ending followed the book series or not because I haven't read them. Has anyone else watched this and did you see the final show? If so, did it bother you?

The relationship you’re talking about bothered me for different reasons. Well, just one reason. There was no chemistry there. The age wasn’t an issue for me.

We loved the show and had no problem with the final episode. The actors are 58 and 41, so 17 years different.

But on the show, they depicted her to be much younger than 41. And with her being his subordinate, it bothered me. And Cady's ending bothered me a lot too. She just didn't seem suited for the role they chose for her to go after.

I'm sorry the ending ruined it for you. I was actually hoping they would get together in the end. Call me demented.

I can't picture Vic being a stepmom to Cady. And you're right. It is just a TV show. I just finished watching that last episode a few minutes before posting this, so I'm sure my disgust will be worn off by morning. It just felt like the writers changed so much from the original characters. I don't know how the book ended and whether or not this was true to the books.

We saw all the seasons but the last one. We liked the show but it did start to wane. That's why we're in no rush to see the last season. If ever.

I agree about no chemistry. I’ve read most of the books, so I knew they would get together, but the scenes were painful. Also, there was no continuity of quality, style, it’s like the ending was written and filmed by entirely different people.
Side point: Henry Standing Bear was perfect, and almost the entire series I totally loved that show.

It also felt like they ran out of time or money and just threw the last season together super fast. And in the final episode, pushed to wrap up all the various story lines. So the books had them end up together too? That surprises me. I think the Sheriff Longmire was sexy, but I didn't like the actress that played Vic. She overplayed so many scenes and seemed to keep making unusual facial movements that were distracting to me. I just couldn't develop an affection for her. I thought Lou Diamond Phillips was excellent as Henry Standing Bear too! I loved that he didn't use a single contraction in any episode. I also didn't care for the quirk of the sheriff not having his own darned cell phone until the last scene. It hampered his ability to do his job. Oh well. I guess I won't bother with the books.

I agree about the lack of chemistry but the physical appearance of the actress was just not that of a young innocent girl. I didn’t know her age but someone posted she is 41 and that’s what she looks like. To me they were both consenting adults, never occurred to me to give the scene a second thought.

His age difference with Vic didn't bother me at all. I see that sort of thing all the time in real life. I like the actress who played Vic -- loved her in Battlestar Galactica and The Mandalorian.
I loved Lou Diamond Phillips' character in this show. He is a very talented actor.

I don’t have a problem with the age difference, but there was no chemistry at all. I do think that they alluded to it during the whole series but I was hoping it didn’t happen.
Lou Diamond Phillips was awesome, as he always is.
And oddly, NONE if it was filmed in Wyoming. I looked it up a while back and apparently anything set in Wyoming is rarely filmed there because it’s too expensive. Longmire was actually filmed in New Mexico.

I don’t have a problem with the age difference, but there was no chemistry at all. this is precisely why i gave up on the series. it was the worst wanna-be pairing ever!! just awful. no chemistry at all and that little side story line just ruined the series for me. it was a really great show too. Walt was far better with the other girlfriend. the more age appropriate, compatible, and believable one.
