Update: This morning I was able to put the game in my cart and purchase on the ap, which it wouldn't let me do last night.
So it is now showing that it will be delivered tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that it will actually happen.
I am so glad that I was able to do that because I was having trouble trying to figure out how to ask DH to get up at his usual time (4:30am) on his day off and go to the Walmart store that is across the street from the entrance to our neighborhood.
I really don't think that would have gone over well, LOL.
Thank you for the validation of my near Pea lividness and for the sweet offers and shopping help.
OP: Not at Pea livid level because there are bigger injustices and things to be pissed at in the world.
BUT I am very close to Pea livid.
On Monday I was able to purchase the Guardians of the Galaxy for PS5 for DS for Christmas at the fantastic price of $25. As a Walmart+ member I was even able to order early than the regular early BF sale.
Now DS has waited an entire year to get a PS5 and just a couple of weeks ago won a slot in the lottery to purchase a console. He had it delivered here and will get it on Christmas (we paid for half, so it is his big gift).
Anyway, the only game he asked for was Guardians and I was so excited to be able to cross that off of his list.
It was set to be delivered from the store today along with three other items.
The other items were also gifts and I knew a couple wouldn't be wrapped so I wanted to get the delivery before DD saw.
So I was in the kitchen with the door open all afternoon and at 3:15 I get a text saying my order had been delivered and it showed a picture of someone's thumb.
There was no car anywhere on our street, so obviously it wasn't delivered.
Pissed. Beyond pissed. I tried calling the store and it rand for 5 minutes before it cut me off, but I then did the same thing.
So DH is at work but he is also investigating and he was able to see that the delivery notification location was sent 2.8 miles from our house, the exact distance to the store that was fulfilling that part of the order.
So this driver went to the parking lot, took a picture with their finger over the camera and said poof delivered and stole the game.
Now I can't get the game in my cart and all of the local stores are saying it is out of stock and the CS person said they don't know if they will be able to get us that title at that price.
This is happening more and more with delivery drivers. We have been having Walmart delivery for over a year and this is the first issue we have had, but this is a big reason to just shop on Amazon.

I would be so mad. Did you call the company that was delivering it to you and report the driver? I am sure between Walmart and the delivery company they will know who the driver was that took it.

Crooks suck but why are these delivery drivers so dumb? Don't they know that the stores will know who they are? Or is it the stores won't do anything and they know it?

I’m having a hard time following this. That said, I am very sorry that this is so upsetting, and I hope it’s just a simple error and is delivered on Friday.
So DH is at work but he is also investigating and he was able to see that the delivery notification location was sent 2.8 miles from our house, the exact distance to the store that was fulfilling that part of the order. Question: How was he able to discern that? Does it drop a pin when it’s delivered?
So this driver went to the parking lot, took a picture with their finger over the camera and said poof delivered and stole the game. And also, how do you know this?

And also, how do you know this? You can find all of the information on the Walmart app, although it is not easy to find, it is which is why DH was "investigating" on the ap while I was trying to call the store. When the driver clicks the item his been delivered yes, the ap records the location. The driver is supposed to put the item at the door, snap a photo and then click delivered all before leaving that location. It is my understanding that the drivers don't work for a separate company, but aren't regular Walmart employees. I was told they are considered contract employees. Either way it's worse than porch pirates because at least then you have a fighting chance to get your order before it disappears.

I find myself constantly amazed at the myriad of ways people find to run scams. Too bad all that creative energy can’t be put to something good.

I was surprised recently to find an Amazon delivery person in my yard looking for the same address a street over. She said it wouldn’t let her press the delivered button. Realized it was because she was in the wrong place. At least in our city, Amazon is tracking locations and literally won’t let drivers get credit for delivering to the wrong location.
All that to say maybe Walmart should look into this kind of delivery tracking. Sorry this all happened to you.

I live in a big city and there are no Walmarts without going to the suburbs, so I don't shop there. I had no idea that Walmart customers are able to track the exact location that a purchase was delivered. When I get a delivery from UPS, Amazon, or Instacart, I’ll often receive a text with a photo of where it was left, that’s it. 🤞🏻 that it shows up or that you can arrange for a replacement. Good luck!

I’m so sorry. I get so irate when delivery people do this shit and I have to fight with customer service agents not to gaslight me (“but the status show delivered!”). I hope you’re able to get your game.

I have more than once had a package show as “delivered” on an app when it has not been, but, every time, the package shows up the next day. My theory is that the delivery people are on a delivery schedule that requires them to deliver the packages on time but for various reasons sometimes cannot, and drop it off the following day (it’s also of course possible that the packages have been misdelivered and my neighbors are dropping them off, but I check my neighbors’ porches). Maybe it will show up in a day or two? But if not, it sounds like you have some helpful Pea backups.
I am sorry—it is frustrating!

It is not for my house and Amazon drivers dont always read my additional instructions.

Walmart uses all kinds of different driver services.. Uber, Door Dash etc .. and they do not read delivery directions..
On Monday Amazon packages came in a rental. I watched the driver go to the building across from me, both sides. Them my building out to the other side, back to my side and he left empty handed. Later I went outside and there were two packages at my door. Not mine... I am 101, package going to 1301.... Big difference!!
But Walmart has delivered my stuff to 'my street address' although it was in a different town 25 miles away...
