I don't have a lot of money and my dad is terrible at using things he's given, even if he likes them, so buying anything for him is a very frustrating task. So this year, I got him a Simpsons pajama set, and a homemade ravioli kit. He loves good chocolate so I might go to one of the holiday markets and get him something from a local artisan as well. Keeping it simple!

Dad is getting a year of Amazon Prime and a power bank that jump starts his car. FIL is getting a year of Portal of Prayer (Lutheran prayers), a page a day prayer calendar, and a book of old west stories. What about a Man Crate? A subscription for unlimited car washes in town? oil changes? I like the Prime idea and may steal that for my hard-to-buy-for parents. How do you 'wrap it up' to gift it to him? I made up a certificate and wrap that. He gets it every year, so I keep it in a file.

hmp it was nice of you to buy your dad a new wardrobe. Especially since he's still working. Going out into the world you need to keep yourself looking presentable. And it's amazing he's still working at his age.

If he’s a walker, and of *that* age, does he show any interest in birding? Maybe an outdoor class through the Audubon society or something like that? This is a good idea. However I'm trying to imagine my crabby, old dad slowing down to watch birds or experience any of nature really and it's quite comical in my head. You would think that at the end of life people would slow down and smell the roses but not my dad. Lol!

What about a pair of Goodr brand sunglasses? They are made for sports and people who “sweat.” They stay on the face without slipping. This is another good idea. Adding to my basket of ideas for sure.

Would he maybe like a whisky smoker? They seem to be popular with the scotch drinkers I know. Whisky SmokerThis is so cool I might order it just to have on hand for another gift for him. Maybe even his birthday.

Since he is outdoorsy and in sun, athletic, what about some kind of wicking shirt? Or something with spf built in?
My parents play pickleball and they enjoyed the wicking shirts I found for them with pickleball logos. You can probably find at any sports store, like Dicks.

A nice bottle of international wine and some homemade goodies (humuus, pesto, biscotti).
