I’m so irritated with my DH. He had the Pfizer vaccine before he was eligible because I work in a nursing home and they had doses that would have been wasted otherwise. So it’s been since February. Boosters are authorized for all adults in my state and he had the entire week of thanksgiving off. I’ve been nagging him to schedule the booster. He thinks he will be able to schedule it tomorrow for Friday because he wants to get it before a weekend which makes sense. I’m sick of reminding him repeatedly and he won’t let me just schedule it. Every time I look the local drugstores are scheduling at least two weeks out. Now we have painters in our house not wearing masks and here I sit with a family member who is practically unvaccinated. Please validate me, fellow Peas!

I get his idea to do it on a weekend, but yes. He should get it scheduled early

I totally understand scheduling on a Friday but those are the busiest days unless of course they are open on the weekend. Good luck. I hope he gets his booster soon for your peace of mind.

Why not ask the painters to mask up if you’re that concerned. Your house, your rules.

Yep - last week you could get boosters the next day. Now they are scheduling for December 15th. I was also nagging my dh about it and he finally got one for next week.

Dang, I just walked in today for mine. If I scheduled an appt, it was 4 days out, but they take walk-ins. So I figured I had nothing to lose by stopping by and seeing if I could get in, and I did.

I'll validate you. My husband hasn't even received his flu shot yet, let alone his booster. Grrrr! He is visiting his parents and scheduled them for their booster but the absent minded man forgot to bring his vaccination card with so he's sol again. But he can remember every useless sports statistic you throw at him. Drives me nuts!

I got my first st. Patrick’s day. I’m dragging my feet on the booster because I felt like ass after the 2nd and I don’t have time right now to feel like ass.

Appointments open tomorrow at our local Walgreens. I didn't check other sites.

Oh I hear you. My nurse daughter was vaccinated in January and February and kept putting off the booster because it wasn't a convenient weekend to have the side effects. I had to finally tell her I refused to visit her or help with the grandkids unless she had a shot in her arm. Maybe this is why they are seeing an uptick again right now?

If I had painters in my house, they would be masked. I had the technician in on Monday to repair the oven and he was masked and so was i. It’s the law here, but I’d mask anyway.

I get the frustration as it took me months to convince dh to vaccinate and he’s already stated he won’t be getting a booster. 🙄
But to say someone who didn’t get a booster is “basically unvaccinated” is unfair. The vaccine, even without the booster, is still highly successful (for most people) at keeping people alive and out of the hospital. The thing is that people who are hesitant/adverse to any COVID vaccine hear this and figure it won’t stop at 3, there will be a 4th, 5th, 6th booster needed so why bother even getting one. They’d rather just roll the dice and get “natural immunity”. In reality though if everyone just had the original the hospitals and funeral homes wouldn’t be overwhelmed and maybe we could get a handle on this.

I had my booster yesterday afternoon since I knew today could be a ‘sick day’ if needed. Other than the very sore arm, I’ve had no side effects this time. And that seems to be the experience for just about everyone I know getting the booster. He may feel just fine afterwards.
(I had 12-24 hrs of feeling like my skin was crawling, achiness all over, and a massive headache for the second shot. So I’m definitely glad to feel good this time.)

He's protected... he'll get the booster soon... it will be fine. The vaccine is not invalidated because he doesn't have the booster. The vaccine doesn't end its protection at six months -- but we want to be prepared for the omicron variant, because we don't know yet if it's going to be a problem. So make sure he gets that appointment (and CVS is taking walkins along with appointments when they have time.) I understand you're venting, but I hope we can reassure you that it will be fine.

If I have someone coming in the house - plumber, electrician, movers, etc. I just hand them a mask if they aren't wearing one. I don't have to say anything and they just put it on. I have a box of disposables near the door.

I scheduled my 8-year old's vaccine a week ago and had a choice of hundreds of appointments. I went to schedule my booster (I just became eligible around Thanksgiving, my second shot was in May) and there is nothing available from my HMO in my fairly big city. I have to drive 40 miles away to get it:(
I found that very weird...
Both DS vaccine and mine are Pfizer.

We have lot of places here that say "Walk-In available", but if you try to make an appointment that is about 2 weeks out. So, I don't really know what is going on with the "appointments". Also, one CVS says they are only giving shots to those under 12 for now.

See if there are any walk in places in your area. The pharmacies are all by appointment locally (and booked out) but the county health departments and some hospitals are doing walk in clinics on various dates.

Yay! He made his appointment for next week. He did try calling and all the local drugstores are appointment only. Thanks for the validation!

It wouldn’t work for us we are very direct and open if I tried this type of stunt I think he’d Uber home and call a divorce lawyer lol. But I would do the same if he blindsided me.
