I asked a couple months ago for a portable carpet cleaner recommendation, and bought a bissell one. Does anyone have a regular upright one they would recommend?
My german shepherd has degenerative mylopathy and cannot use her back legs. They eventually become incontinent so we will be preparing for messes. I like that I can use the portable one immediately for the middle of the night messes, but want an upright to clean again the next day. I feel tht the bissel cleaner bleaches the carpet, or maybe it's just so dirty it looks bleached!
I want it to be one that;s good for pet messes, but general household stains, dirty carpet as well.

we have the portable Bissell upright we got at Costco. it's so easy to use. works like a regular vacuum but you just move slower so the cleaner gets in there good.

Or maybe there is just one for bissell? What cleaner do you use? My portable bissell uses this oxy clean one (and it's the only thing our target and walmart sell). I want something different that won't bleach the carpet, so if bissel has something online, I may order that. I hope my husband doesn't want me to keep using our dirty old hoover, haha! I would love to start with a new one.

I've had good results with Hoover carpet cleaners. (The one I have now works great but has been discontinued.) I suggest buying a carpet cleaner that has separate solution and fresh water tanks.
I had two dogs (only have one now) and would shampoo the carpets about 3 times a year. I always rinse the carpets after shampooing so less soapy water is left behind. So having a rinse option is a must for me. I think all carpet cleaners w/ separate fresh water tanks would have a rinse option.

I follow an influencer on IG for her decor and home cleaning tips. She has been using the Hoover Smartwash Pet Complete carpet shampooer. There was a good BF deal on it at Wal Mart, so I picked one up. I plan to try it out next week. I did see some other positive reviews of this shampooer before I made my final decision, though.
ETA: The carpet cleaner I mentioned does have separate tanks for the solution and water.

I purchased THIS ONE just over a year ago. My carpet is off white, so it can look dingy (even in my shoes off condo) pretty quickly. I also have a cat who every few months will go through a day or two of vomiting (with no explanation). I think it works very well. I paid $199, so look around for a better price than the current price on Amazon.

We just use whatever carpet cleaner is available at Target but I know we don't use anything with OxyClean because we have a dark area rug that we don't want to lighten.

I don't worry about rinsing when spot cleaning -- any excess soap will be removed when I clean & rinse the entire carpet with the carpet cleaner. BTW, the spot bot is great for small cleanups -- mine removed fresh doggie bile/vomit stains -- from an off-white carpet!
