I have my 3 shots and I never stopped wearing my mask indoors regardless of mandates or not. In my neighborhood every one always wore them. I don’t work so for the short time I am at a store or whatever it just doesn’t bother me. I much rather take as little risk as possible. I don’t feel my freedom is being restricted. I was in Texas back in June and one shopkeeper told me it was ok to take it off. I said no, thanks!

The stores/businesses in our area still have signs up to wear face covering indoors, and schools still have a mask requirement…so I think for us this mandate will change little. Unless dining indoors, most people in our area have been good about wearing masks indoors. I get notices of a positive covid case from the jr/high schools at least once a week, but nothing more than that. I am just thankful the kids are able to go to school at all this year, and I hope that Omicron doesn’t set us back from the progress we’ve made.

My county and the county I work in has dropped the indoor mask mandate once in the last two years, and it was last fall for about 2-3 weeks.

An argument I see here often is why vaccinate if you still have to wear a mask? Then they go on about the vax not being a real vaccine blah blah blah.

I live in Utah, fully vaccinated and I still wear mine indoors. It is NO big deal to me and if I can protect others and protect myself, why not? ❤️ I work for a deal website and shop A LOT - Not too many people wear them here, but I'll continue until our numbers go WAY down. Stay safe everyone!

Amazing that most of the hard-hit Delta states didn’t/haven’t reinstated mask rules. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Omicron, which is estimated as more than twice as transmissible. Well that would be driven by the red states governors. They will not be doing any mandates any time soon. I live in one. Stupid runs deep here. Those states will be more than happy to ship people from their overcrowded hospitals, however (signed, Washingtonian who is familiar with Idaho).

I'm on the opposite coast, but will be visiting soon, so good to know!
In MD, there's been a supposed glitch in the server that lists covid numbers for the state for over 10 days now. I halfway worry they're trying to conceal cases in order to keep the holiday shopping/dining/entertainment momentum going.
Fortunately, most places I shop, the majority of people remain masked. I work at a theatre and we have a vaccine or negative covid test requirement as well as a mask mandate. We also updated with an air filtration system. When the email went out about that, we got some pretty vocal pushback, but it calmed down quickly and we haven't had any trouble when checking vaccine cards at the door.
If people are so unwilling to take such an simple step, they are definitely part of the problem. This is why Covid will be a permanent thing. We are forever changed. The dystopian novels we used to read? We need to consign ourselves to "Dystopian Light" at this point.

It just seems so strange to me. Much of Europe has required masks all along. We even wear them outside in crowded areas. There are some protests, but it seems like business as usual here. Right? The mask mandate for indoors and crowded outdoor spaces has been in place since late spring 2020 for many European countries. We are not living through the same pandemic. It's got to be extra weird for you as an American in Europe who's probably in touch daily with many Americans back in the US. I think it’s weird that Americans don’t wear masks indoors. And ironically, we could have more normalcy if people just wore their masks. I have been participating in events/gatherings here, but I’m always masked. Even in a restaurant, I’ll stay masked and eat and drink by slipping the mask to the side, taking a bite/sip of water, and remasking. Silly? Maybe. But I’ve lived through one long severe illness and that was almost 10 years ago. No thanks. The memory is still fresh. I’m not going to do that again willingly. I made it to November of 2021 before I was a primary exposure. That was my French professeur. She tested that evening so we were definitely exposed when she was positive. Not one person in her classes got Covid because we were all wearing masks and were (at least most of us) vaccinated.

Colorado (not sure if all counties have to? It's so confusing) went back to wearing masks .. not too many people following or enforcing it though. I did see my first in person asshole at a thrift store. One of those automatic announcements came on asking everyone to put their masks on and a lady with a baby was screaming this is America... funny thing was no one was paying her any attention and I don't even think the cashiers heard her because they were on the far side of the registers. I was the only one really that could hear her rant and rave. It varies by county. Denver and Arapahoe - where I live - definitely have mandates. I think Jeffco does as well as Boulder. I never stopped masking indoors because Delta scares the bejeezus out of me. The counties that don't have it, have been experiencing insane spread. They just pretend the pandemic isn't happening while those around them die. Needless to say, the vax rate in those same counties is the lowest in the state.

When Colorado flattened the original spread, our hospitals filled with Kansans, Nebraskans, and people from Wyoming. Then Delta hit, and they had to close their doors to out-of-staters because we were now busy with our own unvaccinated idiots and couldn't handle theirs. Extra aggravating because their governors had the nerve to get angry about it. Party of responsibility, you know.

Contra Costa County never dropped their mandate. Plus I work in a school so I'm masked from 7:45-2:30 every day anyway. And I have no life outside of school. I'm traveling next week to AZ but my mom says a lot of people are still masking up there even though they don't have too. I’m on my way home to the Bay Area right now from AZ. Pretty much no one was masking in the Mesa area where I spent the last week. We went to Fountain Hills one day(nice area!), and no one masking there either!

The quickest and easiest way to identify the assholes is to issue a mask mandate.

California is not the only one to have an indoor mask mandate. Other states that already/still have it are Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Washington. Huh! I had no idea it was so few states. Illinois’ masks-for-unvaccinated-only only lasted from May to August - and never included schools and public transportation. It’s just a way of life here. My kids, who live in Los Angeles, had an even shorter maskless gap. Amazing that most of the hard-hit Delta states didn’t/haven’t reinstated mask rules. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Omicron, which is estimated as more than twice as transmissible. Not only are they not doing them, they’re actively and openly fighting against them.

We don't have a statewide mandate here, but it's been basically left up to the towns. My area is doing it so haphazardly. On for a month, numbers drop so it's lifted. Numbers climb again--oh, it's back. And weirdly, right now where our numbers are the absolute highest that they've been the whole time, there is none. However I'd say 75-80 percent of the people are still wearing them.
