Starting Wednesday the 15th till January the 15th, California will once again have a mask mandate for indoors. Our numbers have increased because of get togethers for Thanksgiving.
No biggie for us as we haven't stopped wearing masks inside.
So if you are planning to travel here, just a heads up.
How are my other Ca peas feeling about this increase?

It was only dropped for a couple weeks a long time ago in my county - so it’s no big deal I can keep wearing a mask indoors for another month.

Los Angeles has had that mandate for forever but it's been nice having it optional in the O.C. when I run errands there. I guess that's about to change.

Our county hasn't had one in a long time. I think it should be up to the individual counties.

I felt a little uncomfortable that there was no mandate when I was in Palm Springs in October but I wore mine (and probably about 50% of retail customers did as well). We still have a mask mandate here so when we head back after Christmas it’ll just be what we are used to.

I've been wearing my mask whenever I go into stores, so no big change for me. But, I know there will be lots of angry people! I think mask wearing was about 50% or less lately in my area. Yeah, people are not going to be happy. It will be interesting to see how many comply and what stores do to enforce the new rule.

I wear mine anytime I’m in stores as do my kids and husband. I wear one the entire day at work so it’s no big deal for me or my kids.
The county I live in refuses to enforce it and the sheriff department won’t cite anyone for non compliance. I do very little in the county I live in because of this. I work in a different county.

Of course it’s freakin California 🙄 California is not the only one to have an indoor mask mandate. Other states that already/still have it are Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Washington.

Crazy that people get upset that other states seem to actually care about their residents. 🤷♀️

there was a 43% increase in cases.. according to state health person. so science is driving the mandate.

Look at Florida or Texas they say - yes let’s their deaths are are almost as high as ours but a much smaller population and the rate is much higher. I just read someone saying that Vegas still had a mask mandate and was surprised. I don’t know why but for some reason I guess the ads what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas I guess. I just don’t get the big deal about a mask and social distancing when possible. I am tired of people arguing about them and trying to compare them to wearing yellow stars. That’s just so offensive but I guess that’s what they are going for. We are all tired of Covid but that isn’t going to make it less of a threat.

I was in Sephora at Downtown Disney and realized I could swatch the makeup again. I was like "wow, that's a nice freedom to have back" and then I realized "oh yeah, I'm in the OC" .... we never lost our mask mandate for indoors in LA County so it's business as usual for me.

Illinois’ masks-for-unvaccinated-only only lasted from May to August - and never included schools and public transportation. It’s just a way of life here. My kids, who live in Los Angeles, had an even shorter maskless gap. Amazing that most of the hard-hit Delta states didn’t/haven’t reinstated mask rules. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Omicron, which is estimated as more than twice as transmissible.

NYS has one that started yesterday HOWEVER many counties are not going to enforce it. It is also until January 15th I believe.

I never stopped wearing mine so this won't be a nuisance for me. I've gotten so used to wearing a mask that when this is all over, I am going to feel naked without one.

Ventura County has been masked this whole time, and our low numbers reflect that. Its super rare to see anyone around here without a mask. I feel quite proud of my town/area for that. I did see one lady unmasked at Trader Joes the other day and it was a little shocking. Everyone fully ignored her. I silently judged her as an asshole and went about my business.

That will never ever EVER happen in my state. We didn't even have a statewide mask mandate in the early days of the pandemic. My county didn't ever have one, either. St. Louis County has several different times, but my county right next to STL county has never had one. I am back to wearing a mask again, though.

Colorado (not sure if all counties have to? It's so confusing) went back to wearing masks .. not too many people following or enforcing it though.
I did see my first in person asshole at a thrift store. One of those automatic announcements came on asking everyone to put their masks on and a lady with a baby was screaming this is America... funny thing was no one was paying her any attention and I don't even think the cashiers heard her because they were on the far side of the registers. I was the only one really that could hear her rant and rave.

Well that would be driven by the red states governors. They will not be doing any mandates any time soon. I live in one. Stupid runs deep here.

It just seems so strange to me. Much of Europe has required masks all along. We even wear them outside in crowded areas. There are some protests, but it seems like business as usual here.

I haven't stopped wearing mine, except when eating at a restaurant with trusted "safe" friends/fam, and that's almost always outdoors. I approve of and am grateful for the mandate AND feel awful for the employees who are tasked with policing this!.

Contra Costa County never dropped their mandate. Plus I work in a school so I'm masked from 7:45-2:30 every day anyway. And I have no life outside of school. I'm traveling next week to AZ but my mom says a lot of people are still masking up there even though they don't have too.

We've always had a mandate and I'm very glad. You see a lot of masked people outdoors, as well. Medical personnel have to wear masks all day long. I'm not gonna complain, because I have to wear one inside of the market for 30 minutes.

I am part-time in SF this school year and I am pretty sure SF had a mask mandate anyway, so zero change for me (I don’t have a car there and never leave the city).

I never stopped wearing a mask indoors so this isn’t a huge change. I feel for the employees who will have to deal with the portion of the public who feels mandates don’t apply to them.

The mask mandate for indoors and crowded outdoor spaces has been in place since late spring 2020 for many European countries. We are not living through the same pandemic. It's got to be extra weird for you as an American in Europe who's probably in touch daily with many Americans back in the US.
