I love getting recommendations for books. My favorite places are here and TikTok. I also get some recommendations from my friends. I’ve read so many books that I wouldn’t have normally read after seeing TikTok review on it.
I wish there was a way to keep better track of where I got the recommendation from. Often I will reserve a book at the library and by the time it’s available I’ve forgotten where I got the idea to read it from.

Booktube (Youtube). I found a few people who share my reading taste and go from there. I try to write down who recommends what but I'm not very consistent...
Instagram, once in a while.
I have not ventured to TikTok and don't need another social media wormhole, or do I?

I get my recommendations from here, from the annual Goodreads awards, and from book tube mostly. I also get some recommendations from book clubs and NYT or npr annual recommendations.

My Facebook book-gaming group, another FB group, here, and "while you wait" suggestions from my library after I've put something on hold. Actually I should stop looking at any of these places because my want-to-read list is looooooong.  |

I have authors I follow on social media so I know what they have coming out. Several of them also recommend books by other authors as well. I also follow influencer accounts on Instagram that read and review books in the genres I mostly read. And then just recommendations from friends, co workers, etc.
ETA: I also follow the Weekly Reading thread here for books too.

I’m a librarian, so I read book reviews a lot as part of my job! I’m always adding to my “to read” list. I also get recommendations from coworkers but the best ones come from my 99-year old grandmother, who reads more than I do. She should have reviewed books, she has a great feel for what will be hot. I tend to read about 90% nonfiction these days.

I did the same as you and once I find some reviewers with similar tastes as me, I follow them. TikTok’s algorithm does a good job of showing you more videos with similar people. |

Yes I get a lot from the Goodreads awards too. My favorite genre is historical fiction, so I always try to read most of the ones on their best list. |

I will often look up books I liked on Amazon and look at the “people who bought this book also bought” section.
I make sure to follow all my favorite authors on Amazon so I get alerts when they release a new title.

I follow so many great authors, I seem to always have a new book waiting.
I definitely have gotten lots of recommendation from 2Peas.
I also follow quite a few authors on Facebook who also recommend other authors. Also a few book clubs on Facebook.
I keep “Notes” on my phone of new books I’m waiting for and recommendations for a new book or new author and who/where the recommendation came from. I like to give credit to people who took the time to post.

If I find a recommendation on Twitter or IG, I save it, so when I do pick up the hold from the library I can go back and clear it from my saves. (Bookmark on Twitter)

Most of mine come from Instagram/Bookstagram. There is a very active community of readers and they post lots of reviews and upcoming reads posts.

The annual NPR recommendations are excellent- I also look at the short lists for the booker prize etc.
Also here, and just browsing in book stores and also seeing what like Reese Witherspoon picks for her book club lol.

I get my reading recommendations from her podcast and also from watching the threads here. there are a few peas whose recommendations are usually spot on for me. We must have the same reading tastes!

I belong to two book clubs with several avid readers and we share books we like even if they're not selected for our group reads. I have a couple of friends who have similar taste to me so we're always sharing our reads.
I also like to look at award long-lists - the Women's Prize, the Booker, the International Booker, etc. And booktube.

2. Reads With Jenna/GMA Bookclub/Hello Sunshine Bookclub (liking this last one less and less this year)
3. Instagram-I follow several people, but top 2 to suggest to others-
a. Jordy's Book Club (not always in sync with him, but he's a prolific reader and his job is to bring new books to Netflix)
b. Novel Visits (Most in sync with her recommendations. Rarely steers me wrong.)

When you change a book to 'want to read', select edit for that particular book from your "my books" list, about 2/3rds of the way down the page is "Who recommended it to me". There is also a field for private notes, shown only to you Hope that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't and I will clarify |

I follow several of my favorite authors and they often will ask what are you reading. It’s nice because it’s people that already like the same kinds of books. I have also used Goodreads but at this point I have more books I want to than I can read for years lol. My list is always growing.

I have several:
*Im in a Facebook group .. when I see the same book popping up over and over again I check it out
*author interviews on Fresh Air (NPR)
* I search my local library’s catalog for books released in the current year and reserve those that look intriguing.
*I keep an eye on my favorite authors on GR
My planner has a monthly dashboard with open space - I like to keep a written list of the books I read during the month and another list of books TBR. It’s nice to flip through several months and review my past reading.

I get my recommendations from here and from the Goodreads lists of two reading friends. Before Covid, the 3 of us would go to Author talks put on by our independent bookstore. They had 5 talks each season and with one author interviewing one or two other authors. It was a very popular event, with more than 250 people showing up for it in my small rural town. We would be given a brunch with it. I still have my ticket for the Interview with Kathy Reichs and Peter Robinson that was cancelled March 2020.
