If you have a cat avatar, post here so we can all admire it. Tell us about the cat. Is it your cat, a cat friend, a stock cat pic you love?
My avatar cat is the Girly Cat. She has been gone many years now, but I like seeing her here. She was the only girl in a litter of three that I adopted, so although she was officially named Scully after the X Files character, she became Girly Cat. When DH and I first got together, she thought he was very scary and he had to woo her with snacks. She then decided that he was her person and sat on his lap constantly. Her favorite activity was killing a mouse if one got in the house. She would grab it up and run all over the house so no one else could take it away. When real mice were lacking, she settled for a mouse toy like in her picture here.

We’ll, this post prompted me to change from avatar from the smiling kitten pic I found online to my sweet cat. Her name is Baby Fu. I’ve had her for 11 years and adopted her from a rescue. She’s a beautiful torbie who loves to be loved but hates to be held. She chooses to sit on your lap, as long as it’s covered with a blanket, when she wants. The vet told us recently we had to cut back her food, so she’s on a diet. She loves me, DH and DS. She has become very shy, intolerant is probably a better adjective, of other people. She even hides when my DD, who she spent much time with, comes over.
She’s a lovely cat and I really love her.

This is Waffles. He's 4 years old and the most mischievous kitty. He has a big brother who is a Russian Blue. Waffles was the best birthday present ever. My dh and sons did a great job hiding the surprise. I was supposed to be running an errand w/yds and at the last minute he informed me that we had to pick up turtle food at the pet store. We have a box turtle. We were on limited time and I was irritated. Suddenly, we pull up to the pet store parking lot. Both dh and ds were there. Then I realized that they were going to let me adopt a kitten. I had the BEST time choosing Waffles. BTW-Waffles is aptly named. A few days later I caught him dragging a waffle off of the kitchen counter.
Great thread.

Mine is my avatar and name. This is Milo. He's a furry loveable anxious boy. He seems to be over the loss of our other cat Bella, this spring. He loves me and younger DD, likes DH. Hates older DD, chases her, hisses at her. Doesn't like people if they are loud and noisy. He loves being pet and belly rubs, he just purrs and drools and kneads his paws in the air. He talks all the time and purrs so loud. He's petrified of plastic bags. Used to be so jumpy and nervous but he was on anti anxiety pills for a few years and he's good now except for the plastic bags.

This is Perseus, aka Percy. He is 13, and the noisiest cat we’ve ever had. He demands lots of attention, loves to snuggle, and has the loudest purr. His sister passed away unexpectedly last spring and we both miss her.
We just had our floors redone. This morning I heard this weird banging sound and echoed yowling. He had gotten into the furnace air return where a cover was still off. He was racing around under the floors in the hvac ducts and popped up to get out, but that vent cover was on. He sat there in kitty dungeon howling until I rescued him. Such an asshole.

This Oliver. He’s 8 years old. He’s a curmudgeon to everyone but me (and even me sometimes!) but is the best company I could ever wish for.

This is Zuki. He is an eleven-year-old Siamese I adopted from the Humane Society on my birthday. I saw him on a website and fell in love. On the morning when I went to pick him up, I looked my husband dead in the eye, said "I'm just going to look," and headed out knowing full well that he was coming home with me.
The rest is history!

This is Maybe Daisy….so called because she was a stray that we brought into our home and until we could get a Veterinarian appt for her we didn’t know if she was male or female 😀. We feel like she was badly abused because it took her a year and a half to trust us fully ( and not jump every time we tried to pet her ) She’s good now though and sleeps on our bed every night.

This is my Zoey girl. She's been gone several years now (she was about 16) and I still miss her. We adopted her, along with another beastie, Buster, from Siamese Rescue in VA. They were both mixed Siamese breeds. We called her our psycho kitty because she was so skittish around anyone who came into the house. She wasn't really a lap cat, but we had our moments. One of my favorite memories is how she would join me at bedtime and patiently wait for me to finish my nightly Cheetos snack because I would let her lick up the crumbs from the bowl.

My avatar is this guy here from about 5 years ago when we first got him. He’s my chonky tabby that is a big goof. He has a much smaller (same age same litter) tabby brother. We got them from a rescue after our one cat passed at a young age leaving his brother lonely. We went thinking we’d adopt one cat but decided on two! I’d love to adopt a few more if had the space, time and money. I’d have no problem being a crazy cat lady but I guess 3 is enough (or does 3 cats qualify??)😂😻

Her name is Stanley. She is named after Flat Stanley. She is going to be 12 in a couple months. When we first adopted her we couldn't agree on a name for her. When DH got home from work at night she would walk with him from the door to the closet to the bedroom back to the living room. He would laugh and say she was going to get flattened from being underfoot. I laughed and said "Like Flat Stanley". She likes to be with us constantly, is always on one of our laps if we're sitting. She loves the two of us, but hates everyone else! She hisses at everyone but the two of us. We love her and she makes us smile.

I recently had kitten at the vet and learned she’s 8.65 lbs. she seems so small. But if she’s 8.65 lbs that means Gabs is probably at least 14 lbs. 😳

If you have a cat avatar, post here so we can all admire it. Tell us about the cat. Is it your cat, a cat friend, a stock cat pic you love? the cat in my avatar is named Ember Ella. She is a pure black cat with no white markings. The hair on her belly does fade to a brown slightly lighter than dark chocolate but not near as light as a milk chocolate. I adopted her from the city pound in early December 2019 on the advice of my therapist- that I consider getting an emotional support animal. They had named her Ember. She had been picked up as a stray with a leg that had been broken but never cared for so the ends of her thigh bone had healed over but were not connected. Her leg muscle had atrophied so much she had no control over it. A volunteer vet at the pound did an amputation to prevent infection spreading from a wound on her leg. So she is a tri-pawed. Her estimated age at the time I adopted her said six but notes from the vet looks like he thought she was 8. She had been in the shelter for 5 months. I adopted her, added Ella as a middle name because, as I told the shelter staff, like Cinderella Ember had just met her fairy godmother to remove her from her previous hard life. I would do everything I could to give her the best cat life. She is the sweetest thing! She is not a lap cat but she is social. She does like to sleep on top of me when I sleep which I love! She spends part of her day chasing the sun spot through the windows as it moves across the windows. She also spends time on a cozy cat bet next to my monitor while I work so I am properly supervised. My avatar is a photo of her looking over the top of my monitor to check to see what I am doing. She also enjoys pulling things like my phone charging cord, pens, and other small items from my side of my monitor to her side where she hides them under the end of her nap mat. I love this cat!

I think I still have a cat avatar. It isn’t my cat — I’m actually allergic but I like cats a lot. Every vacation, I seem to have a photo of me petting a random cat.

This is Sushi, he's four and half months old and we've had him since he was four weeks. He adores my husband and spends a lot of time draped around his neck like the worlds most adorable scarf. He thinks I'm ok because I feed him and scoop his poop!

The big boy in my avatar was Simba. The sweetest cat ever. I've never before or since encountered a cat like him. He was more like a dog. LOL He followed me around, and if I was sitting on the couch, he was sprawled out on my lap. If we had guests, rather than run off and hide like cats often do, he flopped his big self right in the middle of the kitchen floor. I am pretty sure he was part Maine Coon Cat, which are typically known as big sweet cats.
He is gone now, and I still miss him. I now have a cat who is the complete opposite of him in every way. LOL She isn't sweet, she doesn't snuggle with me.

I added my cat. I call him asshole a lot. He's cranky and set in his ways so he gets called old man too. If he doesn't get his way, he lets you know. He's definitely a cat that wants just one person and no one else in the house. He barely tolerated the boys. He tolerates DH.
I adopted him 15 years ago when I was single and wanted company during the weeks the boys were at their dad's and he was almost two by then. He was given up by a couple who were expecting their first and he would not get out of the crib they had set up.
Sadly, I think he's at the end of his life. Recently, he had some bathroom issues and was peeing just about anywhere. He's no longer allowed in our room after he peed on the bed. An exam revealed blood in the urine, a lot of it, and a lump in a spot where they weren't expecting one. We treated the infection. The lump is still there but smaller. No more blood. At 17, we don't want to subject him to surgery and are currently giving him medication to reduce the inflammation that may or may not reduce the lump. After treating the infection, he's back to himself. We go back in a month to see if it's growing or not.

Our girl "Yoshi" which means Lucky in Japanese. I never knew about the Yoshi from the Mario game until I noticed a lot of people have a cat named Yoshi....after the character Yoshi! She was my foster baby that we weren't sure if she was gonna make it. I bottle fed her back to health. She is my only kitty that enjoys clothes.😊

This is Ricky, nicknamed Hangover (cause he hangs over all the cat beds we have). He was a stray when we took him in and is around 12 years old and 16 lbs. He is one of five we currently have in residence. He loves to be combed and catnip and hides if anyone beside DH and I are in the house (our cat sitter swears he doesn't really exist because she never sees him). His mortal enemies are squirrels. If one is in the tree out front you'd think the house was under attack. He runs from window to window watching the squirrel, pawing at it trying to get out. One time he managed to knock the screen out of the window and almost got out. Luckily I saw it happen and was able to catch him before he got too far. Now we keep the windows in the front closed at all times. He's a good kitty most of the time.

I love all of your cat stories. I feel like I talk about my cats on here A LOT. ha.
<< This is Whiskey (black girl) and Tango (gray/white boy) and they rescued me in summer 2018.
As soon as I saw Tango's face it was like love at first sight. And he is exactly the cat I always dreamed of having, I call him my soul kitty. He's talkative, snuggly, kind of needy (I joke that I am his emotional support human), he loves to sit with me in my craft room, he likes me to hold him like a baby, etc. He loves everyone equally and will sit on your lap after meeting you a few times. Whiskey is the boss and way more skeptical. She was so small when we rescued yet she's so tough, she protects and herds Tango. It took her a good 2 years to really start to trust us. She loves my SO most. He carries her down the stairs in the morning like the royal she is..sometimes if I am headed down first she stops at my legs at the top looking at me, I tell her I'm not carrying her, lol.
It's my first experience with true rescues, as far adopting older animals with previous history and been quite the learning curve. They've had a lot of health obstacles, but are thankfully doing well now with special diets and lots of attention! So thankful to have this time home with them the past couple years, they keep things funny.
And yes, at some point we may adopt a dog and call it Foxtrot.

I am so thankful for people like your daughter who are able to do such a tough job. One of the techs at my regular vet also worked at an ER vet, and she said it was the hardest job she ever had because there is no relief. No cute little kitten coming in for his first shots, just nonstop pain and suffering and death.
