I was able to order online for in store pick up from WalMart--placed the order after seeing none at Costco(see post above) and already picked them up. Yay! My DS#2 just told me he and all his family just tested positive (he has 5 little kids) so I'll have tests to give them to test later.

They need to follow the quarantine guidelines. People can remain positive once they are okay to return to society.

The schools require them to test negative to return to class. I was going to say this. A friends son can’t return to school until he tests negative. He had hoped to go back last Friday but tested positive so trying again this week. They may be able to go back after two weeks without a test but he is better as he started getting sick on a Friday went to school and then tested positive Monday or Tuesday. Feels fine now but they won’t let him return. She owns a home daycare snd she can’t reopen until next week so closed for two weeks.

When the woman got ahold of my son last month for contact tracing (NYC) she actually brought up the possibility that he might continue to test positive for up to 90 days and not to bother “testing out” of Covid. But, he’s an adult, not a student headed back to a classroom setting. How are schools dealing with it when that occurs?

Between being available yesterday at Walgreens.com and this…I’m going to be “glass half full” girl and take it as a good sign that maybe they’re becoming more available? Maybe?!? I’ve never used any other brand than the Binaxnow. In the peas’ experience are these others just as good (for lack of a better word cuz we all know they’re not super reliable with omicron)? thanks!

For those that have received the tests - do they have an expiration date?
While we are both triple vaccinated, DH works at a place that has large groups, no masks and with anti-vaccine young coworkers (some of whom have had Covid multiple times). I’m really afraid he will bring it home to me. I’m higher risk than him, plus I have a medical procedure coming up in early March. I will be tested the morning of my procedure after I get to the hospital and sent home if I test positive. I really cannot risk becoming ill.
I’d like to get some tests to have at home, but was wondering if they have a short shelf life.

I can’t imagine that the shelf life would be shorter than early March - that is just over a month away. Good luck on your surgery!

I ordered Flow Flex brand from CVS. They will arrive tomorrow. Flow Flex is more accurate than Binaxnow at detecting omicron. See heart.beat.doctor December 29, 2021 post on instagram. I can’t link from my phone. It just embeds a giant picture.

Yes. I think, as we have been discussing on a few threads, many peas (myself included) are somewhat convinced that there will be major site-crashes and other issues that making this a “sure thing” doubtful. For me, I’ve gone ahead and ordered tests even though I knew about the upcoming free tests from the government, because I don’t trust that those free tests will obtainable for a while, until they iron the kinks out of the system.

Don’t know about the others, but BInaxNow has a current shelf life of 15 months. thepointsguy.com/news/fda-extends-expiration-abbott-at-home-covid-test/amp/With as quickly as they’re disappearing, I’d imagine they get on the shelves pretty quickly after they’re made.

Thanks so much elaine. Thanks to those that are doing the updates, too. I was just able to order 2 kits from Costco. They’ve closed down and/or have limited places to get rapid tests around here. With my DH working with so many anti-maskers/vaxers, plus a DD that works in a public school, along with a teenage grandson not only in school, but doing out-of-state travel hockey (I’m around all of them almost every day), I’m so glad to be getting the tests to have on hand. I just feel so much better. This is why I love this place.
