Coming off of Covid and have a couple of questions for the Peas: If you lost your sense of smell and taste, how long did it take to return? Even though omicron is less likely to cause this, it's still happened to me. I have a vague recollection that there was a recovery protocol with supplements and such discussed here, but I can't find it. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

For me, I maybe got a bit of a whiff of smell back around 8-9 days, and full smell/taste was back 2 or 3 days later. ETA:also omicron.

For me, I maybe got a bit of a whiff of smell back around 8-9 days, and full smell/taste was back 2 or 3 days later. ETA:also omicron. Thank you!! I usually have a really acute sense of smell, and the idea of it never coming back is scary to me. I'm about 7 days out from losing smell/taste. I've kept salty and a bit of sweet, spicy is starting to be a little more than it was. On the bright side, it's starting to be skunk mating season - there are lots of dead skunks in the road this week, and I'm glad I can't smell it.

I'd say not smelling the skunks is a plus!!
Hope you are better soon!

Well it’s been 18 months for me. Of course I’m now brilliant at cleaning out the chicken coop so there’s that. 😂
Seriously though, some things are coming through in small bits, but still missing lots of smells and tastes as well as soaps and things smelling horrid and some tastes I used to love being gross. Still. Ugh.

I have a friend that never lost those senses, and another that lost it and so far (18 months) it still hasn't come back) and a granddaughter that got it and only lost it for about a week. So it isn't the same for everybody for sure.

I lost smell and taste on day 3. I still had salty and sweet. It was so odd. I got it back over 4 week period. It gradually came back. Now it’s fully returned. The last one to come back was the taste of dairy. I did smell training. Pick 3 scents you clearly remember. I picked garlic, peppermint eucalyptus bath salts and Downey softener beads. I smelled them thru out the day trying to recall the scents each time. I remember the day I could smell a hint of eucalyptus I was so happy!

I had Covid a year ago. My sense of taste and smell returned in about a week.

I had Delta in late September . I wasn't able to taste or smell for about six weeks, but thankfully it was back to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.
It is not 100% though, its slightly dulled but not enough to impact my life negatively. I had a super keen sense of smell before though so its a bummer. Also, so far cilantro smells off to me and some citrus, but it still tastes the same. Its eerie and disturbing to me that I am not the same.
DH and DD both just got over Omicron, neither lost sense of taste and smell.
If you do some searches here from last year you'll see all my whining posts about the loss, it was scary. A few of us went through that so I feel your pain/worry. It'll come back, but yes, in the meantime its scary. I literally would stick my nose into the Vicks jar and smell NOTHING.
Also, none of those protocols and home remedies work. All it will take is some time. <hugs>

I had Delta (I assume) in September. It took me about 5-6 weeks to regain my sense of smell. I never did lose my sense of taste. I do still smell a phantom burning smell still from time to time.
