And the sad thing is didn’t need to be or should have been this high.

These last couple of months have been brutal for my family. My sister in law (who was not vaccinated) died in November. My husband's mentor and best friend, who was fully vaccinated and double boosted, died day before yesterday. Both of them had underlying health conditions and were older (68 and 78), but both were very active and in seemingly great shape prior to getting sick. Another friend of ours died in March 2019. He was one of the first to die in our state.
I told my husband that when I first heard about the virus, I knew it could blow up into a big deal, but I never thought it would touch us so deeply.

When this all started, they said every family will be impacted (and have at least one death). So far, this has been true in my family (including extended family), and among friends. It is very sad.

auntkelly and garcia5050, I'm so sorry that this horrible virus has affected your families so radically and so sadly. It is indeed something that could have and should have been avoided. Seeing the number at 900,000 deaths would be awful if it were a worldwide number, but to think it's just for the United States is just an unbelievable tragedy.

I am so very sorry, garcia5050 and auntkelly. 😢 And beyond all reason, with 900,000 deaths in our country alone over the past 2 years due to this virus, we still have a sizable portion of the populous who believes it is no worse than the flu.
