I watched it. Mainly because I do like Kristen Bell. There were several eye-rolling moments throughout. I was really bothered by the way their daughter died. The basic scenario of the father taking the little girl to work with him was ludicrous to begin with, but why didn't someone break down the door to get in and save the child? No one had a gun? Why wasn't the guy in cuffs? I kept returning to that thought throughout the movie and it bugged me. I think they could have done so much better with the child's passing. This was when I should have stopped watching. The child would have never been allowed to be in that place to begin with and certainly not left alone. I think they seriously missed the mark on parody.

It took me quite a while to realize it was a parody. In the beginning, I was confused because they played it so straight and I was sitting there thinking this is weird. But I did end up enjoying it and it was a fast watch.

I don't think I would have watched it all if the episodes were longer than they were.

I didn't realize it was a parody and so I kept having "seriously" moments and some weird feelings while watching it trying to figure out if it was supposed to be funny or if it was trying to be serious and missed the mark. I did enjoy the show overall but it was pretty odd. Same. It seemed so serious then there were the 'what the heck was that' moments that just seemed to interrupt the flow of the whole thing. Like the female lead detective/police officer. Her words were serious but her delivery of them seemed like it should be on SNL. I think they seriously missed the mark on parody. I would not recommend it to anyone because the parody just did not hit the mark like it should. Like the way their DD died was just off the charts, beyond the realm of possibility of ever happening unbelievable. (eta: I see that this is what makes it a parody. I disproved my own point! I still don't like it! ) Did anyone else notice the words on her DDs headstone changed every time she was there? Because of that I kept waiting on something supernatural to happen.

And I’m still not sure how anyone could find it triggering since the way her daughter died was so incredibly unrealistic.

DH and I watched six episodes last night. We knew it was a parody and found it enjoyable.

I watched the first 15 minutes or so and turned it off, I thought it was awful

It was so absurd and I loved it until the last episode. One night I stayed up until midnight it was so good. Then I was pretty let down at the end.
It was ridiculous and Kristen Bell was amazing but it just could have been better.

Anyone notice the ever changing headstone?

Going in knowing it was a parody was helpful. I also read the Woman in the window. My son watched part of it with me and we both were laughing at loud at some parts. It was just a fun goofy watch. I loved her wine glass and bowl of corks.

I ended up sitting up till midnight to finish it. Couldn't go to sleep without seeing how it ended!! It was watchable and I enjoyed it as there is nothing much to watch lately so the bar is pretty low!!

I swear, if I heard "glug, glug, glug" one more time, I was going to crawl into the TV and smash that bottle over her head! I enjoyed the show. Now that I know it is a parody, the entire bottles of wine in each glass makes a bit more sense.

I enjoyed it up until the final episode which made me wish I hadn't bothered. The ending was stupid. I didn't know it was a parody, I just thought the characters were quirky. A complete miss if that's what they were going for.

I recognised the heavy parody straight away so I just laughed along to the episodes. Out loud. I had tears in my eye when her daughter's last day alive was shown. It was ridiculous beyond belief and I loved it. Her therapist being her ex, the neighbour's kid she was projecting her caring mother instincts on being an evil mastermind, the neverending story of the mail box repair, the sex with her head in the bowl of wine bottle corks, etc. Deliciously OTT!
My SO, however, did not care one bit for this series. It went right over his head. This really is the case of either liking the humour of this particular type of parody or not. I wouldn't dare recommend it to anyone on a whim. You've got to try and find out for yourself. I do feel bad for those who didn't get the parodic aspect and kept trying to read into things like the change headstone being a sign of her hallucinations and such.
Secretly hoping for the season 2 they set us up with at the very end but I'm not sure Netflix will have found a large enough niche audience for this to give it another go.

A complete miss if that's what they were going for. I feel pretty much the same way, the ending was too weird for me. I did notice the changing phrases on the headstone too. Interesting!

I didn't love it but thought it was clever. The title immediately made think they were going to be mocking this genre. Some of the plot lines were so ridiculous I had to laugh but I like dark humor.

I loved it until the last episode. Although I did love the very end on the plane.
