In 1971 my youngest sister was going to purchase her first vehicle. The car dealership gave her a very good deal on a purple Ford Maverick.
At the time she was in nursing school and was assigned 6 weeks in a Methadone dispensary in the 5th Ward (if you know Houston). It is a very tough neighborhood in Houston.
We were walking down memory lane this week and she said we have no idea of the cat calls she got driving that purple vehicle down the street in the 5th Ward. LOL I can only imagine.
This made me think--I believe hers was the only purple vehicle I have ever seen. Do you recall seeing someone drive a purple car?

I see purple cars all the time at car shows. Corvette had a color is 2017 called Black Rose. In subdued light it looked black but when the sun hit it just right it was a beautiful purple. It was one year only color and if I ever find one at the right price it’s mine.

This made me think--I believe hers was the only purple vehicle I have ever seen. Do you recall seeing someone drive a purple car? Purple has actually been a popular colour in the last few years, especially for small cars or Jeeps. My dd and I always notice them (and often text each other pic's) b/c for us a purple car is a prompt for positivity. When she was little, we used to play a game on road trips where each kid would choose a car colour and they would count the number of that colour we met. The boys chose common vehicle colours, but we remember a time she chose her favourite colour, purple. Her brothers jeered. But surprisingly, we actually SAW some purple cars when we were looking for them! I kind of changed the experience into a mantra: you see what you are looking for. If you look for good things, you will see them. If you are constantly looking for the negatives, that is all you will see. So we work at seeing positives. And when we see a purple car, we smile b/c it reminds us that good things are still out there.

Hers was a deep lilac purple. Now I'll observe and see if I see others when I am out and about.

Yes! There were a number of purple Dodge Neons around town years ago. All seem to have been driven by young women. When we’d see one we always said “there’s a Barney car” (named after the purple dinosaur).

There's a purple car in town we see at Walmart a lot! The last time we saw the couple getting out and they were both wearing Sacramento Kings jerseys and it all made sense.

We borrowed a purple Pinto from a friend of dh’s while out of state for his father’s funeral. It was 1989.

When I was a kid, my parents once told us that our grandparents had bought a purple pick-up truck and they were on their way to our house. As 7- and 8-year olds (or thereabouts), my siblings and I had never seen any purple vehicle, much less one owned by someone we knew. We were so excited that our grandpa had one and hoped he would let us ride in it. I think my parents regretted telling us about it before bedtime, because we were too excited to get to sleep. But we still remember that visit and how much fun it was to get to ride in the purple truck!

A friend of mine owns a purple car and she introduced me to the rainbow game. When you see a purple car, you have to spot cars in the rest of the rainbow in the right order, so violet (that's the starter purple car), indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red. You can't start again until you get back to red, no matter how many purple cars you see. I play it with lorries as well, as they have liveries in so many bright colours.
Based on that, I can say that there are plenty of purple cars around in the UK. I only get stuck on yellow and orange.

My very first car was a 1984 Renault Alliance that I bought for under $1k. For my birthday, my parents agreed to paint it purple. It was very similar to Pantone purple 2726 and I adored it. ^.^ I always love cars that are not the standard color.

One of my bf's back in the day (late 70's/early 80's) had a purple car, think it was a Datsun Cherry (Datsun later incorporated into the Nissan brand). Complete with CB Radio. Oh, the memories!

My neighbor has a purple charger--a head turner, in a good way. On another note, there is a gal somewhere near to me that has a fuchsia car with zebra interior. When I was working, I had seen it a few times on the freeway as I went to/from work. When there was some work being done on the freeway and lanes were down to 2 and sometimes traffic literally stopped, she was one lane over and slightly ahead of me and I took a picture of the car. I've since deleted the pic, but wish I'd kept it.

I think one of the teachers when my kids were in primary school on a trip taught them the 'yellow car, soft top, mini' game, although it didn't matter what order you found them in, you had to have found all three before starting to find another 'set'. We still catch ourselves doing it even though they're now in their twenties!

I've seen many at car shows when I would go visit with my parents. Most of them were muscle cars.
We had a purple-ish mini van for a short time.
Now orange is a color I don't see much. My first car was orange. Like bright Halloween orange. It stuck out in the parking lot full of white and red cars.

My mother had a dark purple Peugeot until last year. Someone in our neighbourhood has a Renault Zoe in the dark purple finish. It's much rarer to see lilac car finishes over here, however.

Gorgeous color, in my lottery life I’d would love a sports car in this color with a metallic finish. The one I see most often around here is a Charger.

Either Lexus or Acura offers a purple on one of their new models. I was looking for a new car and saw it and shuddered.
