I had an IUD inserted yesterday to hopefully help with hormone issues and menopause. My blood work shows I’m in menopause but my uterus is not getting the memo. Dr thinks IUD with hormones directly into uterus should stop my bleeding.
Dr had a hard time getting it inserted. I had quite a bit of pain. She did an ultrasound after to check placement and it was in correctly. I hurt all evening yesterday pretty bad. Today I’ve had cramping and I feel super bloated. She said some cramping was normal for a few days as my body is adjusting.
So how much pain is normal? I worked today and when I was busy I didn’t notice the cramps, but when I sit down I was cramping kinda bad. I am overweight and have a belly (obviously) but I look pregnant because I’m so bloated.
How long should it take to adjust? When do I call and say something’s not right?

I always feel a little crampy for a day or two after my Mirena is inserted, but, I don’t feel bloated. I would call your doctors office in the morning tomorrow if it is not feeling better.
And, insertion for me is the worst! They failed like 4 times last time, and finally had to put me under to insert, it was that bad.
Best of luck! Other than the first few days, IUD has been great for me. And no period in 18 years!

I really hope it stops my periods, I’ve been trying to go thru menopause for 3-4 years. I just woke up but I don’t feel bloated so far this morning.

So off to hospital at the end of March to get inserted under anesthesia as well. Ughhh this hasn’t been an easy process. twistedscissors I’m hoping you’re feeling better today.

I do feel some better today. I’m glad I’m not the only one that had trouble. They made it sound like there would be no pain and that definitely wasn’t the case. Now just to pray it stops my periods. ModChick I hope everything goes well on next attempt!
