I don't like pumpkin pie and was searching for a different recipe to make. I made Apple Cranberry Pie and everyone loved it! I'll be adding it to my Thanksgiving menu every year now. Did you try something new this year that's a keeper?

Nothing fancy but I did try roasting sweet potatoes and Brussell sprouts this year and they were a hit. Guess they will be going on the menu from now on.

We also roasted Brussels sprouts. They had lemon juice and Parmigiana cheese. Yum!

Not a recipe but a happy accident that probably wasn't too healthy but wow.
We took a big dinner to the hospital yesterday. Ham, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls and sil made pies. Not the most balanced meal but it worked. I had everything planned out perfectly. Except I forgot to bring something to put the ham in to warm it in the microwave.
This was my free ham I got from Shoprite. They are fully cooked. All I did was slice it and put the slices in a ziplock bag for transport. That's it. Now how to heat them up? My brother said, just put the bag in the microwave. Two minutes later...
Everybody raved about this ham! It was so tender and juicy. And I didn't do a dang thing to it! Except use a ziplock bag.
ETA I had some left and heated it in a covered casserole dish. It was great. It just needed to be covered. Skip the ziplock.

I made a spinach dip and pumpernickel bread to go with it. I used this recipe, but the reviewer said it wasn't sweet at all, so I added 1/4 c sugar. I also used half wheat flour and half white flour. And I added vital wheat gluten since it helps when using whole wheat flour. I rolled it out and made it into a baguette. (I'm starting to sound like those AllRecipes reviewers .) Anyway, it was really good - dense, but good! Pumpernickel Bread

This Spinach Casserole. I used frozen onions, jarred garlic, and frozen roasted mushrooms, and it was DELICIOUS. Even my kids, who don't like spinach, liked it. It is definitely on the list to make again!

I made some fantastic stuffed mushrooms for my two vegetarians. they were fantastic! I found a copy-cat Olive Garden recipe on Pinterest, left out the clams, added fresh basil and used the mushroom stems (the recipe said to discard but I chopped them up and sauteed them with garlic) wow, they were so so so good!

Not your typical Thanksgiving side dish, but I tried crockpot Mac n cheese. So easy and it was delicious.

I never make pies, let alone cheesecakes. But this one seemed simple enough. Well, let me tell you....IT WAS DELICIOUS! I'll make it many more times now.
Easy Pumpkin Cheesecake
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 1 cup canned pumpkin 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided 1 HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.)
BEAT cream cheese, pumpkin, sugar and pumpkin pie spice with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gently stir in 2-1/2 cups of the whipped topping. Cover and refrigerate remaining whipped topping for later use.
SPOON cream cheese mixture into crust.
REFRIGERATE 3 hours or overnight. Serve topped with remaining whipped topping. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

We had them as well but I could eat them daily. The wizard to post a link isn't working for me, but they are here: www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bacon-wrapped-sweet-potato-bitesI tried to make a chocolate chip cookie pie off of pinterest. That was a fail. It was ridiculously sweet so I'd have to tweak that one before sharing.

mushroom wellington since we had a guest who was ovo-lacto vegetarian - it was AWESOME and I'll be making it again (although probably not for Thanksgiving unless we need a vegetarian main dish again). The girls didn't try it but that wasn't surprising but DH liked it and he was decidedly unenthusiastic about the minced beef Wellington a few weeks ago so I wasn't expecting him to enjoy it. www.deliciouseveryday.com/mushroom-wellington/

I made this Parmesan Crusted Creamed Corn that everyone loved. In fact, my sister refused to give me the leftovers and kept them for herself. I got the recipe from a pea who was also trying it out this year ... sorry I forget who it was. This isn't the same link but it's the same recipe. I made lucyg's Chocolate Angel Pie. It was delicious! And gluten free. It was the only dessert my dd could eat. I'm so glad you liked it and DD could eat it.

I got it from the owner of the cooking store where I take cooking classes. We really liked it but I thought it was a bit too salty. I'll certainly make it again but just cut back on the salt.

Oh, it was you! Thanks for the recipe. Delish. Now that you mention it, I think I did cut back a little on the salt, because it seemed like a lot. I made 1.5x the recipe, btw, and it still fit comfortably in a 9x13 pan.

I switched out my rolls recipe this year for Pioneer Woman's no-knead dinner rolls They were delicious! This batch made about 40 rolls for me, which is great. We ate about 20 of them, and I froze about a dozen, and still have some to nibble on.
