Thank you all who were praying/sending thoughts from my post last week. XDH (father of my 4 kids) fell down 20 steps and broke his neck, paralyzed below the shoulders, in ICU on a vent.
Not much had changed since then - a couple of days ago he had sensation on the bottom of his feet, which the doctors said was very encouraging.
However, yesterday he got pneumonia, and cultures revealed it is the infectious kind, not aspiration.
This doesn't give me a lot of hope - in my years of hospital billing/collection I've seen a lot of patients come in for one thing and end up dying of pneumonia, especially the ones on a vent because they can't cough. I know pneumonia is pretty normal for this but I'm really scared for my kids at this point.
Please keep/renew the prayers/thoughts/vibes. My kids are 23/21/19/17 which is way too young to lose their dad.

Another complication for him can’t be a good thing certainly. Sending warm wishes that he can beat this for your children’s sake.

I'm so sorry. I lost my dad at 31 and that was too young. I sincerely hope your kids don't have to experience that at their ages. Sending prayers for all.

Damn on the pneumonia. Keeping your kids tucked up safely in my thoughts while wishing that the medical team can help turn your xdh around.

I will pray for him...and you and your children. I understand. I was close with my ex-DH when he died of colon cancer. Our son was almost 27, older than your children, but I thought it was far too young for him to lose his father. Hugs to you all. I know how hard this is.

So sorry.. prayers for sure... and let me say how impressed when I hear ex-spouses being supportive in situations like this. One of my friends was the same way when her ex started having health problems. She basically was his only adult other than their kids helping him.
