Oh man once is bad enough but twice. I used the go lightly to. I ate light for a few days snd then liquids only the day before I started the go lightly. Took pills around noon and started the liquid at 4. Because I was already drinking only liquids for a couple days it was over pretty quick. I was also on a low res diet a few days before. If you need to do it again I’m sure they will suggest something like that. The liquid is nasty and I was told to drink it really cold and to use a straw so you don’t taste it as much. I had a hard time drinking it. Good luck.
ETA: the pills I took were a laxative and not prescription. I also drank a ton of Gatorade the day before and the day of prep before the go lightly stuff just assuming the liquid would be good. I felt like I drank a ton but still felt dehydrated after.

Instead you get a fecal matter kit, I'll avoid the details, but it is the end of drinking nasty liquid. That's what we get in Australia. When you turn 50, and every two years after that, you get sent a poo test in the mail. This is what we get in Ontario too. Except my dh didn't do his correctly (don't ask, really gross!) so he has to do his again

Also, ask your Dr about SuPrep. Less liquid, and goes down easily in my opinion. This is what I used and it worked really well. I used a straw to help limit the contact with my taste buds. There was no way I was going to be able to down a gallon of yucky stuff with my gag reflex so the extra I had to pay for this (it was about $60 with a coupon) was well worth it. I also agree with changing your diet for several days before to help with the process. DH and I did this and we both agree it seems to make the process easier. Wishing you all the best for a successful procedure next time!

I used Clenpiq. It was just 2 8 oz bottles. I was also supposed to take Dulcolax but I didn't because I knew it would be overkill. I drank the water, drank the prep and was completely cleaned out. I also ate the day before. I ate some eggs (no butter or oil) and some plain pasta. Studies have shown recently that people get more cleaned out if you actually eat a small amount of food the day before. It helps to get things moving. I was lucky, no polyps but they told me I needed to come back in 5 years. I asked why and they couldn't give me a good answer (no family history) so I am not going to do it until 10 years. That was simply a way for the doctor to bill more.

The pills are new. I've done the old pills a couple times, but they pulled them, because they could cause kidney failure The new pills must be better and I would recommend them, because it's so much easier. My gi is concerned that they wouldn't do a good enough job. WTMI, I'm getting my colonoscopy via nasal gastric tube, because I only drink sips at a time of anything. You might want to ask about that. It's better than repeatedly prepping and you don't taste anything. I'm sorry that you had to go through that cruelty twice w/o success.

That was simply a way for the doctor to bill more. This is what I was prescribed as well. I think the bottles are actually less than 6 ounces. It was pretty easy to chug down before the taste hits the taste buds, and it wasn't terrible. It kinda reminded me of some liquid medicine I took as a child. SO is getting his colonoscopy on Friday, and he requested this for himself based on my experience.

I did not think I was totally cleaned out, and told the doctor. He gets his fee either way, right?
Yes, there were a few polyps, so the ordeal is not yet over. I am 74 tomorrow, so hopefully this may be the last year for a colonoscopy or two or three!

You arent supposed to guzzle it out of the big container. Chill it, pour it into a glass- 8 oz at a time, put a straw in it. Put the straw pretty far back in your mouth, hold your breath and try to get half the glass down. Then take a sip of Vernors or ginger ale. Then repeat with the rest. Wait 10 minutes and do the next glass. The game is to get it down without tasting it lol. Yes this! I had my colonoscopy a few weeks ago and had to drink an 8 oz bottle of Magnesium Citrate in the morning, and then around noon take 2 dulcolax pills, then at 4pm drink a quart of Gatorade (the Lemonade flavor is best) with Miralax mixed in it. Then the next morning another quart of Gatorade and Miralax. I was worried I was not going to be clean but the doctor said 'good prep'. You really HAVE to get yourself to drink the stuff to get cleaned out. Maybe ask for some anti-nausea meds to take before starting all the prep.
