Wow. I just had my second one where I was not fully cleaned out. Ugh. I will have to try again. I have to make an appointment but it seems I will be trying Linzess.

That sounds like no fun. I'm sorry that happened.

That is awful! Once is bad enough but twice with no results is tough. Bless your heart.

Oh, man, I'm sorry. I just had a colonoscopy yesterday, and they are stressful enough without that happening.

What is your prep? Could you start eating light several days ahead of time?
So sorry you are having to go through this too many times!!

The first one was with Miralax and todays was with GoLightly. I could not drink it lol…it was about a gallon and I could barely lift it up. It made me want to vomit. I started at 3 pm and didn’t start Togo until midnight. He wants me to see him in his office, but the note said something about using Linzess for a month.

I mixed the miralax powder in ginger ale and refrigerated it. Then I drank it with a straw. It helped me get it down. Maybe that will help you.

I’ve done GoLightly a few times with good success. I just keep telling myself while drinking it that this has to be done and it’s only going to be done once! Try to persevere. I usually watch some good stuff on tv to distract me from such an unpleasant experience. I got about 85% of it down last time and was clean.

I sucked on a lemon before and after each gulp of GoLightly. I'm so sensitive to texture, but I was able to chug it down. I also kept it chilled if I recall correctly.

That is a huge bummer, I’m so sorry!
I’m on the 5 year plan (darn those pesky polyps) so I try and do what I can to help. If you haven’t already, you might look into a revised diet for the 3-4 days before your fasting day. For me, it works like a charm. If you Google something like colonoscopy diet, it’ll pop up. It’s basically making sure to eat a very easy to digest diet, low fiber foods for 3 days.

I mixed mine with Tang and just chugged it I couldn't handle any sipping. I'd aim for chugging a glass at a time as quickly as possible.

You arent supposed to guzzle it out of the big container. Chill it, pour it into a glass- 8 oz at a time, put a straw in it. Put the straw pretty far back in your mouth, hold your breath and try to get half the glass down. Then take a sip of Vernors or ginger ale. Then repeat with the rest. Wait 10 minutes and do the next glass. The game is to get it down without tasting it lol.

Also, ask your Dr about SuPrep. Less liquid, and goes down easily in my opinion.

You also dont typically have to drink the whole thing. I think I have usually only had to drink half plus one glass. Eating light for a few days before means less to clean out. The first one I had, the dr had me drink 4 or 6 oz prune juice each of the 2 nights before the prep to get things moving. The second time, they had me take dulcolax- I will NEVER do that again. Extreme cramping and nausea. Normally when you stop drinking the liquid, things calm down pretty quickly. With the dulcolax, i still wasnt back to normal the next day!

First one I had, I could NOT drink that vile nasty stuff. I can't remember the name. Last one, I mixed ? with gatorade and was able to drink it.
Here is the good news.....if you have had no polyps, once you pass age 70, no colonoscopy is done!! Instead you get a fecal matter kit, I'll avoid the details, but it is the end of drinking nasty liquid.

I got that tip here from the Peas. My issue was that I only bought two lemons. Next time I'm buy a big a bag full.

Maybe ask them for the pills. They are gigantic and you have to take a lot of them, but it was SO much easier and cleaned out almost perfectly. They are called Sutabs.

I'm so sorry. I just had mine on Monday with the Miralax prep. I started vomiting on the third dose. Every time I tried to take a sip my stomach would start roiling. It was tough to get that last dose down. I think I'd cry if I had to do it again!

I've always heard nothing but bad things about the liquid prep so I wonder why everyone isn't using the pills instead. Are they new or really expensive or something?

I had the giant container of liquid. I didn't actually hate the taste all that much, but there was so much of it, and I was told to drink it all-- half between 6PM and midnight, and starting again at midnight until it was gone (8 oz every fifteen minutes).
I had lemon drops and lollipops on hand to use, which I read is a useful strategy with the traditional prep. I was fortunate that the taste didn't bother me all that much.
My dh had the pills, and I am hoping that that is what I will get next time around. It seemed so much easier.

I think it’s fairly new but my dr offered both the liquid or pills so it wasn’t something I had to specifically ask for. I do think it’s more expensive than the liquid. In pharmacy terms it was a tier 3 brand drug so my copay was the highest which is $80. If I recall correctly it was 24 pills. I took 12 at a time with lots of water about 8 hours apart.

I’ve only had one so far and it was just last year but my liquid was just two 8oz bottles of stuff. I also googled what to eat the few days leading up to it to help.

Probably TMI, but did you think you were cleaned out? Did they actually start the procedure? I agree with, MichyM , following a pre colonoscopy diet for a five or so days will help. DH does this now after having problems with his first procedure.

((((Hugs))) it's a miserable prep. I did a low-residue diet for several days before and a clear liquid diet for two days (started the prep the evening of the 2nd day).
