ELC should have stopped talking after her first (albeit not very clear) statement that she was wrong to make and sell a solid hot foil plate. Everything after that just makes her look really, really bad. Seriously, someone needs to tell her to stop talking already!

I got through about 1 minute of that video. I don't need someone telling me what is right and what is wrong. I don't even know who she is, but she seems too self-righteous and preachy for my taste. Glad I never bought anything from her, and even more glad that I don't know who she is.

Well I left a comment because she ticked me off with her righteous, holier than thou privilege attitude.

I have no idea who she is.
She rubs me the wrong way with her attitude.
She needs a better understanding of what the word integrity means. Just because someone shops at big box store instead of at small business store, does not mean they have no integrity. Just because someone chooses to spend their "fun money, extra funds, birthday or Christmas money, crafting funds, etc... at a big box retailer of their choosing, instead of retailer that she thinks deserves to be shopped at....does not mean the customer has "no integrity".
She seems to think everyone should jump on her bandwagon, because she believes shopping at a small business is the "right thing to do". She wants to dictate where customers/consumers spend their personal funds.
She mentioned "everyone deserves a piece of the pie", but she doesn't seem to want to have to put forth the time and effort necessary it takes to make a pie. She comes across as someone who thinks her "piece of the pie", should simply be handed to her on a diamond platter.

To quote her latest post: "Let’s do better, let’s be better. Let’s all do what’s right, I know we can change. #cardmaking #bettertogether #integrity"
WTF? I am laughing so hard right now. I know we can change, everyone!!
She should have stopped after her first post.
Edited to add: I refuse to listen to any Instagram post where the person is sitting in their car. Add that pet peeve (unpopular opinion?) to that other post that was going around this week.

Ummmm, like we all need to have integrity, and do the right thing, and um, like me, who just admitted to “borrowing” an idea, and um, like when it flopped for me, decided to do, um, the right thing and stop, cause, you know, jump on this bandwagon of crying about small businesses being knocked-off, so, like look at me, just over here pretending I did not try to do the same, umm, thing, cause, you know…integrity. And, um, yes, of course I am influencing from, like, my car. Whatever.

Oh goody gosh, her followers are funny. One dude said EW to my comment. Are we back in Jr High? Exactly what I was thinking. Are these people like 12 years old?? You want me to buy from small businesses? Show me WHY I need YOUR product, whether it’s totally original or not. Show me how to use it. What I can do with it. Tips and tricks. Why do I buy Tim Holtz products? Just because I am a fan girl? No. He spends hours and hours and hours demo-ing, teaching about his stuff, showing me how it all works, the possibilities. He doesn’t go on and on about how he has integrity or is superior. He does not whine about people coming out with similar product. He is not even my favorite personality to watch. But no matter what product he is showing, I come away with ideas. There is content, even if it is behind some snark. Grow up and act like an adult. Be a creator, not an influencer. An inspiration, not a meme.

I've read this thread, I've watched a little bit of a couple of the videos linked here, and I'm still not entirely sure who has done what that she's supposedly the voice for. Reading through the comments on her posts it seems pretty obvious there's an inner circle that are in the know, and a lot of other people who don't understand what is going on or who she wants us to boycott.

So along these same lines - Rabbit Hole Designs created a post yesterday about their embossing powder brush tool. They said that unless you buy the one that has the "patent pending" logo on it you are supporting theft. So the top comment says "So you are saying that the one I purchased 15 years ago was stolen? I'm sorry but your post is vague and misleading. I do NOT support theft of designs, but this is a bit much". They replied: "If you purchased this type of applicator you purchased it for use in the makeup industry. Our pending patent is for use in the crafting industry. If you would like further information please feel free to email us at..." I need to know: am I allowed to buy a cheap knockoff from the makeup department but then decide I want to use it for cornstarch for embossing instead? I need to know the legalities here lol. Then someone says they have a similar one from EK Success that they bought years ago, and asks if that's excluded lol. Then I looked over at Erin Lee Creative's Instagram, and now all of the comments are about her being the moral compass of the industry. Of course Rabbit Hole Designs commented saying that they wished more companies had a moral compass. There is a good comment on there about where do you draw the line? This commenter pointed out that the blending brushes that Erin Lee sells were brought to the craft market by Picket Fence but they are makeup brushes and Picket Fence didn't invent them. She goes on to say that Erin Lee didn't invent holographic paper, and while glossy card stock may be unique to her store can one claim paper? A very long comment but asks some really good questions. Erin Lee commented and said that even though she didn't invent gloss cardstock its not right for another (much larger) company to rip it off. She said she sourced it for months and it's a lot of work to source thousands vs buying off of Amazon. Then she says she did in fact have it created by her manufacturer. (So which is it, did you source it by going through thousands or did you "invent" it?). However, Erin Lee did not comment on the blending brushes lol. I have white glossy cardstock from Stampin' Up! that I bought at least 15 years ago. I'd love to compare it to Erin Lee's white glossy cardstock. SU's is gorgeous. This is a slippery slope. I understand the frustration but man, publicly calling yourself moral and patting yourself on the back ain't it (to quote the young people). My parents owned a small business. It truly was a family business, we all grew up working in it. My brothers each have their own business. Myself and my husband owned our own business for 10 years before selling it. It's hard. There isn't a ton of stability, some years are great and some years you barely scrape by. So I sympathize. I love Small Business Saturday and other small business marketing efforts. I think small business is vital to a healthy economy and even necessary for the safety and security of the country (whatever it's home country may be). But this is just not a good look. And to have commenters say "I stand with Erin Lee Creative!" is just a bit much, this isn't the Ukraine lol. One final thought - a few commenters and Erin Lee herself are starting to call out "the big names" who say they support small business but then continue to work for these "big conglomerates" that steal designs. So are they trying to force Jennifer McGuire and others who work with Simon Says Stamps (one of the large companies they say is ripping off ideas like the ink stand thing) to comment or denounce SSS or Scrapbook.com or whoever? This could get juicy. I still consider SSS and Scrapbook.com to be small business, too, in any case. They're hardly Amazon or Ali Express. I did not think you could patent a new use for an existing product. And those are EXACTLY makeup brushes for crying out loud. Geez Louise! They thought hey these will work as this and they’ll look nice if I make them Colorful and that gets a patent? Really?

Well now that I know I am spending the day scouring my house to figure out new uses for things. I'm going to make a fortune, especially after I lecture everyone else in the industry as well as my customers. edited to add: whoever started using the nail polish stadiums for stickles and drops needs to patent that asap.

With Erin’s post this morning that starts, “I‘ve awoken with a new outlook this morning”, I’m guessing this all didn’t go the way she thought it was going to go. None of big card “celebs” jumped on her bandwagon and I’m guessing she burned a couple bridges.
Looking at the Rabbit Holes comments, I’m guessing they didn’t fair too well either.

But then I discovered they work really, really well for applying eyeshadow as eyeliner. Which patent do I file for?

I'm not the demographic that instagrammers and influencers are after but...I always thought the best way to grow your small business was to have good customer service and products/services people wanted? Not a social media following and call-outs of customers and other businesses (small or large)....perhaps I'm old-fashioned

Has anyone else ever used them to apply eyeshadow as eyeliner? Time to go through all of YouTube. I am positive I've seen them used for chalks before, years ago. You should definitely not pursue this patent. I think even SU may have sold them for this purpose. You do not want Erin Lee publicly shaming you if you attempt to patent it. She has a moral compass. #integrity Using them to apply glue is a really sticky question - glue to eyelashes - unpatentable. Glue to craft items - patentable.

Real professional. I watched about a minute of the one from yesterday and was so distracted by her GREEN FACE (and incredibly bored at what was coming out of her mouth). I have no idea who she is and why I should care, but I don’t. She’s not clear enough about exactly what she’s annoyed about. I giess that’s all I have to say about this whole “deal.” 😁😉🙄😄

I want to add one more thing to what I posted earlier. This has been on my mind today. As a former small business owner, it really bothers me when women behave like she is. Women have so much against them (STILL, in this day and age) as they run their business anyhow, and stuff like this doesn't help "the cause" at all. It's petty, high-school-ish when aired as she's doing.
I have all the sympathy in the world for the fact that she clearly thinks that she was wronged, but serious, successful, professional businesses just don't do this.
I kinda wanna just slap her upside her head.
