Aw, that is SO great! I was going to say that I hope it really turns out to be a dream job.....but then I remembered that you had essentially worked it already. You already know the great points and the points that are a little more challenging! What a great scenario!

That is so awesome! I am feeling very disillusioned with my assignment for next year so hearing someone else's good news made my day. Good luck and enjoy.

Some of you may remember that I have been going to school full-time to get my Virginia teaching license. I also have been working as a substitute teacher this year. ย Most of the jobs that I have taken have been at my boysโ elementary school- which is 1.5 miles from my house & takes only 3-5 minutes to drive to (it depends on that one traffic light). I worked as a long-term sub in a 6th grade classroom for the whole month of March. Iโd already subbed in all the 6th grade rooms but one, and got along with all the teachers on the team. It is a large elementary school with 1000 students and a Korean Immersion program. I loved working with that team and they really like me - two women, in particular, are close to me in age and we all just clicked. Anyhow, the guy I was subbing for announced 2 weeks ago that he was leaving for a middle school math position. The job was first listed internally and then last week opened up. I got my materials to the principal on Thursday, she contacted me on Friday to set up an interview (they had already set up interviews with 3 other candidates) on Monday before school.ย It was my first interview for a K-12 teaching position because I was having a hard time motivating myself to start applying in earnest because I love this school and its culture so much. Many of the teachers that taught my 22 year old are still there - including his 6th grade teacher - the school culture is that supportive. I didnโt share about the interview here, because I wasnโt sure how I would handle the disappointment if I didnโt get the position.ย Anyhow, I went to the 6th grade building after school yesterday - the school has a built-on modular because within 2 years of opening, the school was overcrowded due to new construction in the area. When I saw my two friends, one asked if I had just talked with the principal. I said โno.โ She told me that I should go find her. I replied that I should probably wait for her to contact me. They had just interviewed the other 3 candidates on Tuesday after school, so I didnโt expect to hear anything for several days. Anyhow, we were chatting about upcoming State Testing and the principal came in, told me that she had tracked me down to offer me the job. ย I accepted on the spot and hugged everyone - including the principal! The Korean immersion teacher I worked in tandem with last month got teary. ย I was celebrating alone last night- my husband is in England this week for work. ย The other 6th grade teachers decided to start a new 6th Grade Team chat vis text last night to welcome me and the new Korean immersion teacher (we are adding a second Korean immersion class to 6th grade). ย So, with the SPED support teacher, there are 7 of us. ย I feel wanted and like I have landed the most amazingly supportive first teaching job. I am incredibly lucky! As much as I miss you here, I am THRILLED for you. Congratulations Elaine, theyโre lucky to have you!

Sometimes the stars align and the perfect job is given to the perfect person. Your future students will be blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate teacher guiding them through what can be a rough transition into young adulthood. Congratulations!

Good for you! Teachers are dropping like flies out here and the kids need good solid people teaching them!
I subbed for a few months before I got a full time job in my career. I had one school I really wanted to be in. I ended up in that school was there for my entire career and then volunteered for 5 years.
