DD graduates in 2 weeks...she attends college in NYC. My parents, DH and I will be attending and we would like to go out for a nice dinner afterwards, but the number of choices available are overwhelming to me. Then I remembered there are not an insignificant number of Peas who might have some knowledge of a nice place to go.
Any recommendations??
Graduation is at Radio City Music Hall and we are staying on the Upper West Side to give an idea of where we will be, but we are not opposed to going somewhere away from those areas.

Good question...I'm used to NC prices, so I'm a little unsure of how that translates to NYC prices. Will we be able to find a nice place in the $50 -75 per person range?

$50-75 per person is doable for a nice dinner, especially if you get out of Midtown. What types of food are you looking for? Steakhouse, Italian, Japanese, etc?

My DD and mom are pescatarian, DH is a bit of a picky eater. Italian, Greek, Steakhouse, Chinese and American generally work for all of us. Also, super bonus points if it has outdoor seating, but that's not a deal breaker.

We like so many restaurants but for something special like this I would think about maybe Gramercy Tavern?
Congratulations on her graduation! Does she have any ideas of someplace she's been wanting to go to?

This place is a GEM. Casa Limone. It's Italian, not far from Radio City. I usually avoid eating in midtown but Casa Limone is worth it. Amazing food, great service and the perfect ambiance for a small group.

Greek - Dafni TavernaFor the picky eater and a large, family-style experience: Carmine's (there's one in midtown and one on the upper west side) Neither place is crazy expensive. scrappyesq - sounds like I need to check out Casa Limone!

If you want something fairly intimate with amazing Mediterranean food you could try Amali. Two of my college friends own it (but it has excellent reviews) - I ate there a few weeks ago and loved it. It’s in what is considered the lower east side (actually Upper East Side) www.amalinyc.com/

Definitely make a reservation in advance, since you'll have a group but also there will be a LOT of people going out to eat post-commencement. Everyone has great suggestions, I will add: Guantanamera (Cuban, near Columbus Circle) Ella Social (Mediterranean, large and small plates meant for sharing, UWS) Tavern on the Green (American, located on the west side of Central Park) Becco (Italian, pasta specials change daily, located in Hell's Kitchen)

MY FAVORITE. Favorite, favorite, favorite. I just thought it wouldn't be as nice as they'd want for graduation, but it's such a great restaurant.

My initial thoughts were Becco and Gramercy Tavern, which have already been posted - extra endorsements for those!
