Question for you all: how do you balance chores/adult life with your scrapbooking? - Do you sometimes ignore chores to focus on crafting? - Or do you adhere to "work before pleasure"? - Or do you craft first but leave enough time to get the jobs done later? I am sitting at my computer procrastinating doing chores. But I have this feeling that I need to get them done before I join the crop. So I'm wasting time. How dumb is that??? I try to get at least some of my chores done first so that I don't feel guilty. But, honestly, chores and work never end, so sometimes I just say...I want to craft this afternoon, and I just go do it!

Decided to do my own homework... P: I decided to PLAY with outline title letter cutfiles. Of course I had a war with my Silhouette, cuz I don't use it enough to understand why it isn't doing what I need it to do. And then I had trouble with gluing it all together. In the end I chose the solution of using Nuvo drops to cover the outlines. Thinking another time I might just avoid the war with the Silhouette and just start with the individual letters, arrange them how I like, then Nuvo the borders to give than welded look... April '23 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr E: I had planned to use the April page for this prompt, but that title is more like one THIRD of the page rather than half. I do have a couple of LO's in the Gallery from earlier this quarter where the title spaces were more to size. But the past is the past, so to check this off my prompt list I will have to create something else. Hmmmm.... A: Friendship, inspiration and information are the three most meaningful benefits of hanging out on these boards. If the information turns into enabling and then teasing cuz I dropped some serious cash on something no one else in my life would understand? I think that puts me happily right in the middle of this pod. S: I took on a couple of the sketches. I had to do some rotation to make 1-A work for the photos for this LO, but in the end it gave me a way to use these pic's AND play with my Easter embellishments. Speaking of play, I even made some of my embellishments from the wrap from dgs's Kinder egg! If you build it, he will come by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I also took on Sketch 1-B. I started by playing with scraps to build a background. I debated covering the whole thing with a paint wash or maybe vellum, but in the end decided to split the 12/12 into two sections and use it like I would a sheet of pp. I *think* I am happy with it. Regardless, I know I am not going to tear this page apart to mute that background a bit. So it is what it is... The first page is based on the sketch
POINTS: five pages created & shared (10). Sixteen photos for the Donna challenge (16). Two Crop prompts + two sketches (12). P-2 chipboard embellished (25), P-2 PL cards (6), S/I-1 eggs (14), C/M-1 mood board (1), T-2 dies (2), T-10 torn edges (10), W/T-1 months letters (15) + bonus (5), W/T-3 alphas (4), W/T-7 happy (1), Th-3 Easter photos (30), N/S-1 patterns (37), N/S-2 bling (8), N/S-3 photo sizes (8), N/S-4 clusters (4), N/S-6 5x7 pic (1). Total: 209 x 2= 418.

I am in awe of you working moms who can also craft. I didn't when that was my life. But now I am retired and have a little more control over my time. I try to balance the different pieces of my life so I can do both work and play. My creativity is highest in the mornings, so on a perfect day I can do some crafting first thing. That makes me feel happy and accomplished and often makes the rest of my day go better.
And recognizing that chores will never be completed, i divide them up into blocks finishing each of which can give me some closure.

During the week I get my school time done with ds as well as errands or chores done. I also prep for that nights dinner. When that is done, I get in some scrappy time before ds has 1:1 school on site. On weekends, I get my chores done first then craft. I like being able to sit down and know I can focus on crafting and not worry about other stuff. Now I will need to prep ds's cups for his feeds (we pre measure so he can pour and go) or switch over laundry or put it away. But nothing major has to be done. This also allows me to craft late into the evening.

Dd has class then adding in some dsps services for next school year for college. Then I will be able to sit down and make some pocket layouts.

I am sitting at my computer procrastinating doing chores. But I have this feeling that I need to get them done before I join the crop. So I'm wasting time. How dumb is that??? I have not been able to find a balance since returning to office full time. I haven't created much and made the time for it. I am trying but hasn't happened yet. I realized I also don't scrap a lot this time of year bcz I am outside more, garden planning, going on hikes, etc. So it just doesn't happen. I am very much a fall/early winter scrapper. - Do you sometimes ignore chores to focus on crafting? Sometimes, but it's hard for me to do. I will try to keep myself to a schedule in the sense of "so many hours for chores/then a few for creating".
- Or do you adhere to "work before pleasure"? I don't always adhere to this or I would never play! There is always work to do....
- Or do you craft first but leave enough time to get the jobs done later? I am best at everything first thing in the morning whether its a chore, crafting, exercise or work. Although I have been ok with crafting at like 3-4pm on weekends and finding its enough time before dinner/evening plans to get some in.
I have some layouts burning in my brain and hoping to get some time this weekend, but also putting my plants in the ground...so we'll see... Enjoy your crafting peas!

Question for you all: how do you balance chores/adult life with your scrapbooking? - Do you sometimes ignore chores to focus on crafting? - Or do you adhere to "work before pleasure"? - Or do you craft first but leave enough time to get the jobs done later? It depends - on a regular day? I usually do chores in the morning and then scrap or do something I want (read/sew/internet surf) in the afternoon and then dinnertime/post dinner chores and sometimes more scrappy time depending on what we're doing as a family. When there's a crop, I usually put that on the schedule ahead of time and there's a family assumption that I mostly focus on scrapping during it. I still need to provie dinner but I typically plan something quick and easy for crop dinners. I do tend to clean pre-crop and again post-crop so my house doesn't fall to pieces though. This week while DH has been gone? less housework, more scraptime but I mean I've kept up on dishes, laundry, sweeping/vacuuming etc....there's just less of that with one less person and I didn't schedule in any extra chores. I do realise as a sahm mum with just the one high schooler at home, I'm very blessed to have a lot of scrappy time. It's much easier to find guilt-free time now that it was when I had a baby, a homeschooler and a high schooler (15 years ago) or when I first started and had a toddler and a homeschooler (22 yrs ago) AussieMeg - gorgeous layout - I love the colours and what an awesome 3 generation photo. grammadee - I love the nuvo drop outlines on April - looks great and one would never know that wasn't the original plan - and the view master wheel as the cluster base? I love it. That title and those clusters on the easter bunny page - super cute! And I love the background paper - perfect colour. Awesome idea to split that busy background between the two pages - I like the bright colours- they work well with the coloured eggs photos.! You've been very busy already!

Just did the poll -- I love this community because while I am lucky to have people I scrap with in real life, it's great to connect with more people who share the same hobby. Also...I love coming here to be enabled by many things. I wouldn't know half the products available if not for this community and I have definitely been hit by the "FOMO" bug many times. I'm scrapping a bit today during some breaks at work (one of the biggest perks to working from home a few days a week!) and I'm working on completing an album for one of my pre-Covid trips -- I had been saving some FYC Travel embellishments for some time and I figured this is the perfect album to use them on and it will help everything be cohesive as well. I've already used a few pieces and now I have to go back to work (BOOOOOO lol). Looking forward to joining in some of the activities this weekend and being more active on the boards again.

I have always made room in my schedule for scrapping. Even when the kids were young, I went to a weekend crop pretty much every month. I do the same now, this weekend, for example, is for scrapping. Could I be housecleaning or doing other chores? Of course, but like others have said, that stuff will still be there next week. This works for me and DH, it may not work for everyone. Been there, done that, on the procrastination thing.

kitbop that's a great question! It's a balance to be sure -- I try to think about my chores and lists as general guidelines (up to a certain extent) because some things that I put on my list are more of a "nice to have" rather than a "must do". Granted, I'm a single, childless scrapper so I have more time than others may and because it's just me, I may let more things slide than I should because I'd rather be scrapping or spending my spare time doing fun things. But when the inevitable chores must be done, I also then make some scrappy thing my reward or mix it up and set a timer for myself so I can take breaks and scrap in between tasks. I understand about the guilty feelings. I still struggle with that (Catholic guilt is REAL!) but I'm learning to have more grace with myself and understanding that I need to have time to do fun things for me regardless if I get my list done. Because my list will never be done. And then I will be grumpy. And no one likes Grumpy Jessica. Especially Grumpy Jessica!

Great take on the sketch, Linda. I love how your papers pull in the blues in your photos. The heart and fishtail banner make a nice balanced link between the pages. I started making a sympathy card for my cousin's dh (She passed away in March but they are holding a memorial for her). But then I got interrupted to help dh, and didn't get back into completing the card. They are hard for me to create, anyway, and once the focus was gone, it was gone. But the pieces are out here on my counter--managed to do some foiling before the interruption--so I should be able to finish it later. When I got back to my scraproom I decided to spend some time putting away the pages I completed during and after the LSS crop. Going through the albums helps me to figure out what I need to pack to take with me to scrap with when I am at ds's home while the dgd's are in school next week. So not the creative morning I had envisioned, but the good news is I got some organizing done and I earned double points for the time ! Loving all the activity here so far, and looking forward to hearing from you and seeing your creations all weekend.

Thank you grammadee . I'm sorry about your cousin - and about the interruptions interfering with focus. I agree sympathy cards are hard anyway. Hopefully you'll get some scrappy time soon - yay for double points for organising. SCT cut file (Nov '18) and QK heart dies. AC PP

I love 2Peas mostly for the friendships I have made. I also have learned so much from the peas and I love to see what others create.
I don't scrap when I should be doing the necessities, but I often scrap when I know that there are housework things I could be doing. No one comes to my home and DH can't see the dust, so dusting sometimes waits for a day or two.

I don't scrap when I should be doing the necessities, but I often scrap when I know that there are housework things I could be doing exactly - there's always housework that CAN be done but I don't neglect what HAS to be done in order to scrap but I do put off the less required stuff sometimes.

I am sitting at my computer procrastinating doing chores. But I have this feeling that I need to get them done before I join the crop. So I'm wasting time. How dumb is that??? Balancing is hard, especially if your DH doesn't have any individual hobbies. He has hobbies, but they are things we do together. (for kitbop , Modern, Commander, TH Giant, lol. Yes, we play a LOT of Magic the Gathering, lol.) We also play a lot of board games/movie nights/etc with our friend group, so scrapbooking seems like I am leaving him or our group to do something else. So honestly, it is much less chores in the typical sense, and more of me not having a ton of personal time without feeling like I left someone else hanging. He will totally help with chores, and then expects that we go do something together now that the work is done. I am not complaining!!! It just doesn't leave a lot of time left over. Believe me, I have tried to duck out of some group things to scrap, and I hear about it, from like 6 other people!

kmage - that sounds difficult. Is your DH an extrovert by chance. I'm very fortunate that my DH has individual hobbies of his own (Lego, stamp collecting, coin collecting, World of Tanks...) so while we do stuff together, we also hole up in our hobby rooms and do our own thing. But we're all introverts here with no friend group.

I finished 3 weeks in 2019,:which ended up being 2 12x12 pages. Some tough journalling on those pages.
I had been bouncing from year to year but that’s throwing me. I think it’ll be easier for to stick with one year per session. Tomorrow may be another year.
Every one’s finished pages are so great. Look at us go!

First with the opening poll: Online friends who get me and the joy we have sharing our work and enabling each other in fun new crafty purchases. Learning new techniques either directly from peas or from recommendations of videos to watch. Info that I cannot get anywhere else usually over on the NSBR. Such a wealth of info throughout the entire board! I do ignore "long-term" chores to craft . . . But short term chores need to be done before I head to my craft room, work before pleasure. When issues for DS happen all crafting falls of the list, as I am too exhausted emotionally to be creative. I am looking forward to some quiet time in my craft room this weekend AFTER some basic chores are done. I counted up my hours in my organizing the kitchen 3 month plan. . . already almost 20 hours and I'm about 2/3's of the way done. I am taking all duplicates to get ready to take to the cabin. Just my luck both DH and I got sick this week as well as MIL. DS is on the mend, but still coughing (no covid) and doesn't stay for all of the lacrosse practice. One more game, and most likely he won't play on Saturday, so maybe I'll stay home. I did work yesterday and came home exhausted even though it was a quiet day with students. Didn't cancel today's job as I already knew they would be short subs, and of course I am covering 5 of 5 periods as one sub job didn't get filled. I may go home and crash . . . even though in my heart I want to craft. I have a layout on my desk to stick together and photograph for my Imagine DT gig, I will have June done, then think about one for August, so I am way ahead. Two more cards to do for my JFF DT, all the way through September! That takes the pressure off to create on demand, when I have those crafting "chores" done. Good thing I always use them for something! Done with school in 100 minutes! Wahoo, can I hang on that long?

I am working today, I am on call tomorrow (so hopefully I am not getting called in) and I am off Sunday.
My favorite thing about 2 peas is the friendships with ppl who understand my passion. I also love to see everyones creations and am getting better at sharing my own.
I am a single empty nester so I am the only one who cares about the state of the house, but it also means that no one else is around to help lol. I have a "strategy" that works pretty well for me and that is to scrapbook 20 min, and then clean or whatever for 10 min. It keeps me from sitting too much and helps me stay on top of things around the house.

angel97701 - I bet you are exhausted with all that going on. Get rest and get well. I hope you can find some creative time and that DS has a smooth weekend ahead. Here is mine from today. Busy - warning you in advance. I "played" with new "lobster" red ink from lawn fawn. I've been wanting a good red for a while, and Shimelle's rainbow class tipped me over into buying this, but grammadee it was your "play with something new" that made me work on this page instead of starting into the next colour Bonus, more stash diving - 7 gypsies stickers from 2006, BG label stickers from 2009. layout dancing for peanuts by kirstendrew, on Flickr

What an innovative way to achieve that Shimelle Red class, kitbop! Red inks are always a problem for me, too. Are you in love with this one? Linda, I wish I had that brick die! I DO have some LEGO pp and stickers, though in an envelope I usually grab when the LEGO comes out. Interspersing crafting with chores sounds like it works really well for you, teacherlisa. I will do that too if I have some dedicated time at the beginning of the day to get the creative thinking done. Then I can use wet media, walk away, do something else. Come back when it dries, do some layering or put on another coat, and so on. The privilege of having a room where I can leave stuff lie is wonderful! angel97701 I hope you get some down time this weekend. Sounds like you earned it!

And I am your Saturday host and I'm going to drop my prompts in now so early birds and international peas don't have to wait on me in the morning. P = Project - use green as your primary colour in your project for twoPEAS E = Embellishments - use TWO...the number 2, 2 of the same, 2 different types, two clusters, or some other interpretation of TWO A = Answers - what are your scrapbooking or crafty favourites? Can be a supply, a colour, a brand, a technique, a snack to keep your motivated... S = Sketch I reached way back in time to 2012 and the Basic Grey blog for a Susan Stringfellow sketch. One thing I love about sketches is they are timeless - new techniques, new colours, new products...it's easy to update an old sketch and make it new. blog.basicgrey.com/?p=3491&cpage=1You can do the full two page or use either side for a one-page - adapt as fits your style and photos. I did a single page as my sample grammadee
