7/12 UPDATE: I went to a CVS drive thru clinic on Saturday and tested and was told I would have results in 1 to 2 days.
I called my PCP yesterday morning and they set me up with an appointment today, telehealth if results came back positive, but if negative they wanted me to come in so they could test me.
Didn't get my results yesterday. In fact, I got a text this afternoon saying they had my test in the lab. WTF? They are taking 2 days just to get the test to the lab? And if they didn't pick up the test samples until yesterday, were they in that metal box outside the drive thru in 100+ degree weather for two days or does the pharmacy empty the boxes and store the vials?
Ended up going in this morning and they tested me for flu, strep, and covid. Way, way, too many swabs and I actually think I prefer getting my brain poked rather than my throat. I have way too strong of a gag reflex. (Insert witty innuendo here)
I did come back positive for covid so Dr. Gave me an Rx for antiviral and some cough syrup. Quarantine clock is reset and she wants me quarantined for 5 days. Ugh.
I have already taken the first dose of 3 pills and now have a horrible taste in my mouth and my stomach is messed up. Going to be a long 5 days to get through this rx.
Thankfully, Dad hasn't gotten sick and the kids have stepped up to help out. He has a hard time understanding the "I can still make you sick even if my symptoms start improving" thing, but he is trying to go with the flow.
This did show me that he is still able to do lots on his own; he got his own coffee the last two days and today DD was having trouble getting out of bed and by the time she got downstairs he had fixed himself a bowl of cereal.
I am trying not to go crazy in this one room; the last time I had covid DH and I got it at the same time and were the only ones home, so we had the while house to move around in.
Here is how bored I am: yesterday I actually ironed a bunch of clothes, including some shorts that I would normally just give a shake and wear as is.
Thanks for all the kind words and positive thoughts. I definitely appreciate them!
OP: My life has been pretty busy this summer, DS is home from school, DH working insane hours, DD focused on studying for a big certification and Dad has had several doctors appointments.
I seem to be busy from the moment I get up until almost bedtime.
A week ago this past Tuesday (the 28th) life was pretty great. DD had passed her certification exam that morning and DS was finishing one of his 3 online classes that will enable him to graduate a semester early.
As I was cooking supper my phone rings and it was DH asking me to come pick him up. He had gotten hit on his Vespa scooter as he was coming home from work.
OMG I was a wreck until I got to him. He was mostly ok, nothing broken, but he was bleeding from scapes on his chin, down both arms and both knees.
I got there before the police and dude did stay, although he didn't have much of a choice because his front end was messed up.
And typical Memphis driver, no insurance and a suspended driver's license. There are way too many of those in this city.
Anyway, his beloved Vespa was totalled, along with his helmet and Apple watch.
DH knew he would be sore the next day and boy was he. He ignored my suggestion to see a Dr about all of the road rash so it didn't get infected.
He wasn't able to go to work the rest of the week and yes, his burned/scraped arms and knees got infected so on Saturday I insisted he go through Dr on Demand and get some antibiotics, which he did, along with some antibiotic cream.
So with DH out of commission I had less help around the house. This kids tried to take up some of the slack, but now I had another person depending on me to help care for them.
So all week I seem to have gone nonstop, although I did take the time Wednesday morning to go to my weekly tap dance class and then Wednesday evening DS and I went to see a movie that he had wanted to see.
Oh, and I have also spent the last two weeks working on a baby quilt to DDs best friend who is having a baby shower next Saturday.
So anyway, if you are still with me I am almost to my point (I promise).
Yesterday I was so tired from lack of sleep and being so busy (and the heat really took a toll) that I was just thinking I really wish I could just push pause for a bit so I could catch up on rest and all of the things I have had to let slide these last several days.
Yesterday evening when I came in from watering the garden my throat was really starting to hurt and I was coughing.
When I got up this morning my throat and coughing was even worse and I had horrible congestion and was so fatigued.
DH, who is still out of work this week but is starting to feel better helped with some of the morning chores, although I took my Dad's coffee in to him. DD fixed his breakfast for me.
I ended up going back upstairs and laying down. Then I got a text from my dance teacher telling me she had just tested positive for covid. (She was fine during our class, symptoms started after.)
Well mother effer.
I took one of the at home tests (thanks to the Peas I had signed up and gotten them) and it was negative.
But I have steadily felt worse as the day had gone on. I now have chills and body aches and my chest hurts.
I have monitored my pulse ox all day and it hasn't gone below 94.
I have stayed in my room all day and instructed the family to disinfect all of the surfaces downstairs.
I am so worried that I might have given it to my dad. He will be 95 this October and has some health issues. Yesterday I helped him wash his hair and shave and get cleaned up, so I was in close quarters for about 30 minutes.
And DS has been so careful these last two years.
DD just came in and told her glands are a bit swollen, but otherwise no other symptoms. She took the class with me, so she was exposed like I was.
So now I am trying to figure out when and where I should go get tested again.
And Universe, if you are listening, THIS IS NOT THE PAUSE I HAD IN MIND!!
Thank you Peas for letting me vent/whine.
