I’m planning to get my first shot but I think I remember several saying you felt bad after. Just looking for any input. Was it after the first, second or both? I know everyone is different but just want a heads up. Planning a low key weekend but hoping to squeeze sone fun in.

Both for me. 101-102 degree fever for 2 days each time. Felt awful. Then as if nothing happened on day 3. Still much better than shingles. Which I have had 3 times.

With the first shot I had all the side effects including fever and felt lousy for 24 hours, and I had a lot of swelling and redness of my arm for a week. I was told by my doctor to be prepared after my second shot because the reaction is usually worse with the second shot…and I was totally fine with no side effects.

My DH just got his a couple months ago. He had around 100 degree fever and fatigue with both. He said they were a little worse than his covid shots.

I have to do that - gotta get on it.
I'll give myself a break for a little bit - had my colonoscopy today, so that's my "preventative maintenance" for a bit. But I really do have to get that shingles shot at some point.

My arm was sore for a few days afterwards, and just felt a little more tired than normal. The second shot was the same for me, it wasn't worse than the first.

It was rough for me. A fever, fatigue, aches for days. Ironically I sailed through all 4 COVID shots with only a few hours of fatigue for each. But Shingrix and the annual flu shot puts me down for several days.
I say plan for the worst and hope for the best!

I had a reaction both times. Nothing awful, just chills that evening. The next day I felt tired but otherwise ok. Definitely worth it!

If you know anyone who is immunocompromised, please have them check with their doctor to see if you need to stay away from them.

Did you have it before or after the shot, or both? Really debating about this shot--makes you feel terrible, but still doesn't prevent it, isn't very encouraging.

For me, the shot itself was odd. Felt like hot chocolate running down the inside of my body. I had a sore arm for about three days and was tired the first day, but after that I was fine. The second shot wasn't as hot chocolate-y, but I was tired for the day and arm was sore for a few days. I feel like my side effects were about a 1/10 compared to what others have had.

I’ve had the original shingles vaccine and the 2 part Shingrix. As with the 4 Covid vaccines, it was a sore arm and mild fatigue, if that.

I got my second shot this past Wednesday morning, started feeling loopy and achy by late afternoon, ran a fever overnight and for most of the next day. Tylenol helped with that once I remembered to take it! Still had a bad headache all day Friday but the body aches and fever were much better. Saturday I was 90% back to normal, just a sore arm and slight headache.
The first shingles shot, I got my covid booster at the same time, so I wasn't sure how much of the general afterward lousiness was due to which shot, which made me unsure how I'd be impacted this time around.

Absolutely worth it to me.

Absolutely worth it to me. My 86 yr old father who has gone through cancer of the bladder and kidneys, has had both kidneys removed, is on dialysis and has survived Covid twice said that Shingles is the worst thing he has ever had. I take after him medically so I went and got the shingles vaccine. I did feel poorly the next day with a fever and exhaustion, but it cleared up quickly.

Yikes. This is sounding worse than I expected. Still better than shingles but dang. I am having my husband drive me on Friday. Hoping I feel better by Monday as I have another drs appointment then. I didn’t have reactions other than a sore arm with Covid.

no reactions except a bruised arm but I'm blaming the ?pharmacist? for that - she did a darn poor job of administering it

But my arm was very warm and red but got less red each day. I figured it was worth the arm pain to not have shingles ever.

No problems or issues for me except for a sore arm for a few days. I had both shots last year.

DH got his 3ish weeks ago. No fever, fatigue, etc. Just a sore arm at the injection site for a few days. Our next door neighbor got his just before DH and he didn't have any problems, either.

Friend said she spoke with the pharmacist and got a shingles vaccine made with dead culture, rather than live culture and she had no side effects.
I have had shingles multiple times so am avoiding the vaccine as I don't see what I will gain. I have maxed out on number of times a person gets a repeat outbreak.

If you know anyone who is immunocompromised, please have them check with their doctor to see if you need to stay away from them. Why? What FACT is that based on? The Shingrix vaccine is an inactivated (dead) virus therefore you cannot get chicken pox from the vaccine. There are very few vaccines these days that use a live virus...and even then it is an attenuated (weakened) version. Immunocompromised people should be getting vaccinated - that's what protects them, so they probably already had the chicken pox vaccination anyway and they themselves ARE eligible for the Shingrix vaccine. From the CDC: Adults 19 years and older who have weakened immune systems because of disease or therapy should also get two doses of Shingrix, as they have a higher risk of getting shingles and related complications. From the Mayo clinic website: ...there are no documented cases of the varicella-zoster virus being transmitted from adults vaccinated with the shingles vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to the CDC, in normal circumstances it's unnecessary to avoid pregnant women and unvaccinated children after you get the shingles vaccine. However, if you are vaccinated with Zostavax and develop a rash, take the precaution of keeping it covered until all the bumps crust over. If you don't know something is factual - then look it up before posting some fear mongering statement.

Friend said she spoke with the pharmacist and got a shingles vaccine made with dead culture, rather than live culture and she had no side effects. That pharmacist must have some very old stock because Zostavax (the weakened live virus) was removed from the U.S. market in November 2020. Not because of the chicken pox risk but because the new vaccine was significantly more effective in preventing shingles, especially in older people, and secondly because of a rare side effect that can cause a serious eye condition.

I had no reaction at all to either of my shingles shots, nor did my husband. Neither of us had any reaction to our Covid vacs or the booster either.🤷♀️

I had shingrix (I can't have live virus vaccines) and had bad reactions to both. The second one was worse. Fever and chills, headache, dizziness.
