I am getting married on the water in Hilton Head this fall. We figured out bridesmaid/groomsmen attire this week and now have a dilemma. There seems to be no “right” answer online, I am just curious what others have done.

I personally would not choose for them to match. I wouldn't want them to clash in photos, so some level of coordination, but I don't dig matchy-matchy for most things.

For more context, here’s what we chose. Groom will be in a navy suit. Fathers in suits of their choice - I think they may end up being navy, but not positive.  |

I didn't choose as neither yes nor no fits. It's up to the couple.
My dad's bowtie matched dh's and his groomsmen as did his handkerchief.
Dh is the only one who stood by larger 3 pink roses on his chest and pink and grey handkerchiefs.

Dh's dad wore a regular tie. But since my dad walked me down and I wantedhim to wear a tux like dh and the groomsmen, he matched.

If everyone were in formal wear, I might vote for matching. But definitely not with the casual beachy vibe you are going with.
And congratulations! Be sure to post photos. A beach wedding on HHI should be beautiful.

Congratulations!! I love what you have pictured. I want to see photos too. I love a beach wedding.
I vote no. Same color scheme would look great but maybe a plaid or a floral. And I love bow ties also.

My DH - father of the groom - wore a tie that matched my dress for our son’s wedding. We knew what the wedding party was wearing - best man and groomsmen had ties that matched the girls’ dresses - and we chose to complement them.

Congratulations the wedding sounds lovely!
My dad showed up in a bright red bow tie with his tux
(The store has given him the wrong one but we were 4 hours away over the holidays in winter so no going back). My mom and her a hole husband where pissed lol. Didn’t bother me. The bridesmaids were in emerald green and black velvet and the groomsman varying military uniforms and the best man a fancy vest with his tux but no one else had red.
I can’t remember what ex’s dad wore but it wasn’t a matching tie with anyone.

DD got married a few months ago on the steps of their local historic courthouse. DD dress was white with navy embroidery, groom wore a navy suit. I wore a navy dress with pink flowers, DH wore a navy suit with a navy and pink striped tie to match my dress. Grooms parents were also wearing blues.

I don't think it matters either way. We go to HH each year and where we stay there is a beach access and building that is often used for wedding receptions. I've seen many weddings on the beach. You said on the water so I'm not sure where you are planning. It is such a beautiful island. Wishing you beautiful weather and only a light breeze. Please share some photos.
