950nancy Hobby Lobby doesn’t do Halloween. They do “fall” but not Halloween. 😒 They have had Halloween/spooky stuff before. They don't go full Halloween due to religion, but they have had things other than pumpkins and just fall stuff. I haven't seen any spooky stuff in awhile, probably a couple of years now.

Our local news did a story on how it will be earlier this year due to the stock that didn't make it last year because of shipping delays.

I haven't seen any spooky stuff in awhile, probably a couple of years now. One of the clerks last year said HL was using the excuse of the pandemic to not get Halloween stuff last year. She definitely did not look like the typical person who works at HL. She said she was ticked at the company for that. I have tubs and tubs of Halloween items, so I haven't purchased there for a while. Today they were really stocking up the fall stuff and I didn't see anything remotely spooky.

I want summer to last as long as possible. Then I want to enjoy fall. It seems like the fall months are completely skipped over for Christmas. With that being said, I did purchase my first Christmas gift yesterday. I have never, ever bought a Christmas present this early.

I am prepared to see that kind of stuff in craft stores so crafters can get ahead for the holiday rush. But Costco? I’d be overwhelmed too. It’s July! I would actually even be Ok if they were out after Halloween simply because sometimes it takes a little while to "collect" just the right decorations if you are starting over or doing a "theme" tree. But July is definitely WAY too early!!

this made me lol. Older DD is married, just bought a beautiful new home and has a 16 month old bouncy super active boy and is pg with her second boy due in October. I was looking around at her staircase and said "ooh, have you started buying Christmas decorations yet? This will be your first Christmas in the new house!". The DEATH STARE she gave me, lol. "MOM. Seriously?" Okay, okay.

I saw a Halloween Disney house at our Costco, but no Christmas stuff yet. I feel like summer has passed me by since we've been deep in kitchen reno, so I'm not mentally or emotionally ready for Fall, much less the holiday season!

I will join you on that Grinch Bench! . I have no complaint about craft stores who put out Christmas stuff ahead of time because people who do crafts obviously need to start early enough so they can finish in time. But just plain decorations, like the Costco stuff.... well, nope. It's bad enough that Home Depot has all the Halloween stuff out, never mind Christmas which is two months later than Halloween!

Yesterday I went into Home Goods and was bombarded with Fall decor, and I wasn’t even ready for THAT, let alone Christmas decor.

I know what you’re saying but Costco is notorious for being months ahead of any season. Where I am it’s not uncommon to see swimsuits, beach towels and summer stuff in March when there’s still snow on the ground! Back when I had my retail store, I would have people asking for new Christmas crafting stuff in May that wouldn’t even be released until the July trade show and wouldn’t ship until September. Both situations are frustrating!

They have had Halloween/spooky stuff before. They don't go full Halloween due to religion, but they have had things other than pumpkins and just fall stuff. I haven't seen any spooky stuff in awhile, probably a couple of years now. They used to carry traditional Halloween stuff with carved pumpkins, witches and stuff but haven’t for quite some time now. I’m sure I’ve bought that kind of thing there in the past when they weren’t in our trade area, but I haven’t been shopping there much lately. They also stopped carrying a lot of name brand items and have substituted their own house brand stuff instead, so that is likely part of it too. They have more control over their own store brands.

It’s been a few years. I remember seeing stuff all over FB about them no longer carrying actual Halloween items. They used to but I think they stopped before Covid or maybe it was 2020 but I’m thinking it was a year or so before that.
I went to Dollar Tree and did grab a few fall things because they come in and then are gone long before the holidays. They have tons of craft supplies so it doesn’t bother me there but regular stores and Christmas nope I’m not ready. Of course seeing this snd the shopping thread is making me want to grab a few little things lol. We have three more months of summer so I start to look forward to cooler days snd the holidays. Last year I never really got in the mood for any of them so I hope this year I can get into them more.

I thought seeing Halloween stuff was rushing it. Christmas? Way too soon.

I don't want to see fall stuff until Oct. and Christmas stuff until Thanksgiving. I do not like fall at all, so it's depressing to see it in the middle of the summer. But I have no problem seeing spring stuff in January! So I am a bit of a hypocrite, haha!
I spend much more money on spring/summer stuff, so when fall hits the shelves, I don't spend as much.

Yes, everyone can start calling me The Grinch. 😂 Nope, I completely agree! Seeing Christmas stuff this early depresses me AND makes me *HATE* the commercialization of Christmas even more than I already do! Yes! I am so tired of Christmas by Thanksgiving because it's all over the stores so early.

I absolutely hate it when retail stores start decorating or stocking Christmas items in July! That's 5 entire months before the holiday! Talk about shoving the season down our throats. All it does to mean is give me intense negative feelings about the entire thing, rather than spurring me on to begin shopping which is what they are hoping for. Why, why, why can't they give us a break and instead start decorating or stocking first for fall and the beginning of school, then after that ease into Halloween a couple of weeks after that, and then into Thanksgiving?
I'll tell you why. They are so worried they'll miss that one sale. It just makes me more and more determined to do more of my Christmas shopping online when I feel like it...like after Thanksgiving.
Funny story: I've lived in the MD for the past 29 years, and in VA. for 25 years before that. Last December we vacationed in St. John USVI for 3 weeks from Dec. 1 to Dec 22. On Dec. 20 DS and I did an all day snorkeling trip on a sailing catamaran with 24 other folks (it was an amazing boat) and as we were pulling away from the dock at the beginning of the trip the crew started playing music onboard. They were Christmas carols. It felt so weird hearing Christmas carols being played while it was around 89 degrees F, there were palm trees along the shore and the water was turquoise blue! It felt wrong. Like no way could it be close to Christmas in that environment! I knew in my head Christmas was in 4 days but I'd blocked it out during my trip. I also know a lot of the world celebrates Christmas when it's warm and sunny, but to me Christmas has always meant cold weather.

Don't come over to General Scrapbooking... The new Christmas lines thread has been up since April and we just started the December Daily 2022 discussion! From my calculations, everything Christmassy that is scrapbook-related is about 2 weeks earlier than usual this year. I won't be seeing any Christmas decorations in store until well into October where I live, however. The US takes shopping to a whole other level.
