I enjoy this show. I think Chip is a little full of himself, but I love their ideas and creativity.
I also noticed, and it bothers me a lot, that Chip does not wear any protective glasses, etc. when he is cutting wood or removing tile. When you host a show that requires that kind of work, you need to set an example.
P.S. So happy I found this forum. I was on 2 peas for 7 years and loved the NSRB.

My new fave show!
I think Chip is sarcastic and goofy. I do not get the impression that he is full of himself.
Love what they do with the houses!

Omg I love this show! It's one of the few HGTV shows I've set to dvr. Chip and Joanne seem so normal to me, and it's so refreshing. I love their banter and Chip's silly humor. I honestly did not notice the he's not wearing protective gear, but yeah he should definitely be "doing it right".

Love it! They are cute and seem to work well together. My big ? Is when they furnish the houses, do they use a mix of the stuff the families have and new or get all new stuff? Anyone know?

I've heard Joanne say she stages the houses with stuff from their shop and things they get at antique and resale stores. The owners probably have a chance to buy whatever they want to keep from the staged stuff.

This is my favorite show on HGTV. The blog Cote de Texas did a post on the show that I recommend reading. If I do this correctly, here is the blog address: cotedetexas.blogspot.com/

I'm a fan of the show. I love their style. I also like how it's not as fake and cheesy like Love it or List It. I also like how they've incorporated their family into the show. And Chip buying two kittens and a puppy? Heads would be rolling at my house. :-)

I love this show as well. I am not good at seeing past some of the things that need to be fixed so I'm in awe of those that can.

I like it too... they seem to have a good relationship -- but every once in a while she gets into the " I WANT IT THIS WAY" no matter the cost and that drives me a bit batty. But they end up with very gorgeous homes that look like they have good workmanship. I loved the last one I saw with the missionary kids picking a home for the parents.

Did anyone see the one where she surprised him with the jeep and he ran into the worker's van?

I love they tend to work with all different budgets. It's not all $500k+ ^ like many of the other shows. Most normal people can't afford to copy even 1 big room, forget about a whole house.

I love this show too. Lots of great ideas. Chip makes me laugh when he talks about being chunky! I am shocked at what great prices they get the houses for and how much they can get done for a small amount of money.

My husband and I both love this show. Currently we're living abroad and this show just makes us miss Texas and Texan charm. Chip is exactly like many of the men in my family...gregarious, skilled, hands on hard workers with loads of self deprecating humor. When we eventually move back Stateside we'll be in that area of Texas and I'll definitely have to check out her store!

I have to wonder if HGTV pitches in any money....or whether the homeowners get Chip and his wife's time for free and HGTV pays them? I don't see how it could be added into the total renovation costs. Although some of their quotes on specific things seems high sometimes and at others seem low. I haven't really seen any product placement ads that could possibly be helping (wood floors by xxxx, paint by Benjamin moore, etc) But they do have an eye for what a house could be...

Ok, watching now! Laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. Chip in his boxers(?) a tool belt and some kind of slip on shoes. They were actually shopping for stuff for the house but it craked me up!!!

Another huge fan of this show too. I love their relationship and their esthetic for design is fabulous!!
I'm also a fan of Rehab Addict. I really like the she is always very budget conscience and all about re-purposing and I think she does a great job balancing rehabing the house, keeping to the original period of the house all within a reasonable budget.

I am shocked at what great prices they get the houses for and how much they can get done for a small amount of money. This has been a favorite of mine and DH's since it started this past season. I was glad to see that they contracted for another season. Looking forward to it starting. As for the price of houses, they are in Waco and surrounding areas. It is no surprise the price they get many of the houses for. It is the going price. I am always surprised at the rehab costs though. I assume they get the goods at a wholesale price and maybe even better than wholesale. I would love to know how they get such cheap prices. ***ETA One thing I love on this show is that they get things done that they plan to do. They work the budget to get it all done. This is one thing that drives me nuts on Love it or List it. I would love to have just one show that they actually accomplish everything originally talked about. It might mean making some changes in the budget to save money in other areas.

And they must get wholesale from certain manufacturers! Because I agree replacing a kitchen for less than $10k is just unheard of -- even for just cabinets/counters/tile/etc. I do know that it is cheaper if you can do a lot of the labor yourselves.

There was a marathon of this show on a few weeks ago on a Sunday and I saw about half the episodes. I'm hooked! I love their style and what they turn a dud of a house into. I read Joanna's blog and she said something about they get paid from HGTV a percentage of the budget the owners can spend on the renovation. But its paid by HGTV. She also said they were renewed for more episodes. Here is her blog: magnoliahomes.net/blog/

I have also wondered if maybe labor is not included...........for instance, maybe part of the deal of being on the show is having HGTV labor. Sometimes though, when they find something unexpected, they will talk about the extra cost for the electrician (or whoever) and they will find savings in other areas to cover it. I guess it could be that general building labor is HGTV but specialists like electricians and plumbers are not. I would love to know though.

I love this show! I have watched all of the first season and am anxiously awaiting the second season. I love how Chip and Joanna work together. You can see real love there and a great working relationship. His humor cracks me up and that he can laugh at himself. I think they do beautiful work, I have loved every house they have done.
I read on her blog that they stage the house with stuff they own and the homeowners have the opportunity to buy it at the end. I hope most of the new homeowners buy the stuff because that is what really makes the house in the end.

I am pretty sure this is how it works for most HGTV shows. I'm almost positive that Drew & Jonathan Scott said this is what they do on Property Brothers.

My favorite show on HGTV. I don't think Chip is "full of himself". He just seems like a down home Texas guy (no I'm not from Texas, but I know the breed since my Dad and uncles were). The only thing I don't like is when Joanna is setting up the house, why doesn't she use any of the homeowners stuff. I know my Mom said she likes the show too, but doesn't like Joanna's decorating with all the shabby chic. She couldn't believe when she hung the piece of fence on the wall.

Another fan of the show here too. I can't believe how cheap housing is in the Waco area! Those houses would go for double or triple around here (Maryland).
