Hi everyone! Ex returns from British Columbia today so I'm assuming he will be here at the house tomorrow to mow the lawn and give me a bunch of "chores" to do ... my "staycation" will be over! I need to deal with some piles of old paperwork and then decide what to do with my Christmas decorations that cannot come to the new condo with me ... especially my large collection of Dicken's Village Getting rid of other things was not that hard but this will hurt! After I finish this post I am loading up my car with my cans and bottles recycling to take them to our community centre for donation ... I'm not sure what they are using the money for this time but I hate going to the bottle depot by myself so this is great! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I will only date men who have a job, a house and a vehicle (especially trucks!) ... you would think that wouldn't be a lot to ask but sometimes it is!! I'm not sure what dinner will be tonight ... my young "friend" didn't come over last night so there is a good chance he will tonight ... I could cook for him or we could order takeout ... who knows! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We are beginning to settle into a more normal pattern here. Nearly all boxes unpacked and most of the junk produced by the move has gone to the dump. Today we did grocery shopping and went to the garden centre to buy some fresh herbs for our little garden. We got some at the hardware store during the week, but they didn’t have the variety or quality of the garden centre.
Dinner tonight is steak, corn and potatoes on the grill. I am going to make a fresh herb butter to go with the meat and veggies.

leannec try to think about the fact that you are nearing the finish line with the house. You are really so very close now. Soon you'll be onto your new place where you can do whatever the heck you want (don't want) to do! My friend Wendy is coming over. We are going to scrapbook while our boys play golf. I'm making some Chex mix and she is bringing margaritas for snacks. We will get takeout when the guys finally make it back.

leannec , any chance that either of your girls want the Dickens set? If not, you could sell it, or take it w/you if it's important to you. Hopefully, your unit will have a storage unit, too. Vent time. Ds's job comes w/ very reduced rent, teacher housing. That was a big draw to this particular district. Yesterday, HR let him know that everything was delayed and it could be a few weeks until he can move. He can handle the huge commute, but it's a covid risk for me to have him home after being around his students. Verbally, he was guaranteed housing, but that's not in writing and if it falls through he's gonna have a big problem. He signs his contract on Monday. You'd think they could let him know sooner? So, my house looks like the aftermath of the running of the bulls and we are scrambling. Not sure what I'll make for dinner. I'll see what the guys want and go from there. I'm stumped. Enjoy the day, my lovely tribe.

I'm sure that my dd's would love to have the Dicken's Village but they live with ex and so have nowhere to store it ... it is substantial ... about twelve houses/buildings with all of their accessories ... I will get dd#2 to take photos and I'll sell them at bargain basement prices ... I will have a storage space at my condo but I'll need it for my Christmas tree and the other decorations that I am keeping ... once I buy something I'll have a better idea of what I can take with me ... sigh! In regards to your vent ... I would be stressed out if I was your ds and you ... be prepared for the school district to completely back out of offering him housing ... especially since there is nothing in writing ... I think he should try to find an apartment nearer to the school today ... it will be more expensive but at least he will be settled

leannec I can only imagine how hard it is getting rid of some things that you love. We are minimizing and with the move we are making I have had to get rid of so many things that I never thought I would. scrapmaven I hope the school doesn't back out on what your son was told. It's terrible that they are giving him such little notice on the delays. jeremysgirl sounds like a fun day with your friend. Those margaritas sound like something I need just about now ntsf strawberry shortcake is one of my favorites ! sueg your dinner sounds delish ! Glad to see that you are finally getting settled in. Tomorrow I go back to work after my little mini vacation. I needed these 4 days off. We are probably ordering in for dinner tonight.

Good morning. Leftovers today because we have quite a bit since I cooked the last four nights (lasagne, meatloaf, tacos, shrimp pasta dish). Dh loves leftovers so he’s good.
No plans today besides my usual workout stuff and scrapping. I did a bit of reorganizing the other day and it’s better to work in now which is nice. It’s a super small space - like a big closet - so it’s a bit tight. I may take the dogs and go back over to the property. They were having fun running on the cement footings - like a little dog maze. 😂
I also like to visually see the space in person and get a feel for how I want things and planning and choices -so many choices. Dh is usually pretty opinionated about house design/choices but he keeps saying everything is my choice, whatever I want. So I guess if it turns out bad it’s all on me. I’m kidding, I’m pretty good with design/style. It’s just like I like so many things I have to really think about what I want and how that might work with other choices etc etc AND keep budgeting in mind as everything now is so much more expensive than when we had the plan to build. Thanks COVID remodeling Phenomenon, supply chain issues/demand, and then now inflation. Yikes.

We’re grilling ribeyes for dinner. It’s just ds and me. I will bake a potato in the air fryer but don’t know what ds will want. We have pasta salad and green beans left from last night.
Thanks to you I want a margarita and strawberry shortcake, a new house to plan, a vacation, and an adult child to move out. What I don’t want is to part with treasured Christmas decor, a boyfriend or a dog (even to babysit). 😊

Hi Everyone, leannec Before you get rid of your Dickens houses, find your forever home first. You may have a space somewhere to put them. Maybe the girls would each like 1 or 2 and you can keep the rest. Or could your mum store it for now? scrapmaven Covid is a very real concern for you. My nephew is a firefighter and my brother was scared to death of getting it with his immunity down. I hope that he can get his housing soon. ntsf Is your son’s dog a snuggler? sueg I am so glad that you and your DH are settling in. jeremysgirl Have fun with Wendy today! bklyngal62 I am glad that you enjoyed your time off. paget I hope that you enjoy going over with the dogs to the property. Today I am going over and spending time with Sydney. I am tired because it was another all nighter. I ended up falling asleep at 7:30 am and getting up at 12:30 pm. I am not liking this pattern. Tonight we are having rechauffe.

We had a busy morning, first we walked then went shopping for a new mat for under DH's chair in his office. I started sitting on the office chairs just goofing off and then sat in one that was like being enveloped by a cloud. DH sat in it and agreed so he bought it for ME! Can't wait until he puts it together. Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs with a huge green salad for me.

gb2015 , what a snuggly charmer you have! I didn't want to bump the other thread, but am so glad you posted a photo. padresfan619 , I meant to congratulate you on moving into the walking stage with your little one! scrapmaven , is the school district being up front about why the housing is delayed? More teachers than anticipated needing it? Someone not moving out? I hope it gets sorted quickly because you don't want him going back and forth every day. I hope you get your sleep schedule back on track, destined2bmom . I have a couple errands to run and one will take me near a larger Asian grocery store, so I'll stop in for produce and a few necessities like a jumbo bottle of rice wine vinegar. I've been quick pickling vegetables and have beets in the fridge at all times, Delta Dawn . Thanks for the laugh, KelleeM . I'm mostly with you, but will take the dog. Hope your DH is on his way to a full recover, karenlou . One of my oldest, dearest friends had a liver transplant yesterday. He has been very sick for about 4 years and he is one of the friends we spent a weekend with while in Canada. We were celebrating that he'd been added to the transplant list and are in shock over how quickly it happened! My plan is to grill Italian sausages, portobello mushrooms and onions and toss a Costco Sweet Kale salad for the guys. I'll finish off the bits and pieces leftover from yesterday's poke bowls unless DS had them for lunch.

bc2ca you’re so sweet! Thank you! He’s gained so much confidence now that he can walk it is amazing. Tonight I am feeling very lazy so we are just having Costco meatballs in sauce with broccoli and garlic bread. Not much going on today, I spent the morning toddler wrangling while my husband installed some built-ins in our living room. The little guy is just waking up from his nap now so back to wrangling!

the dog is a pitbull/border collie mix.. and still under a year old. so far, I only have one more hour to go.. we took him on a walk at local schoolyard, and he is good in the car, so I am taking the long route back to my son's house.. to take an hour instead of 30 min.. so it has not been that bad. we have mostly sat with him in the backyard.. it is super foggy today, so this morning it was a bit wet.. and he started nibbling on my jade plants..
my adult child is excellent with dogs, so we are splitting the fun. going along on the rides for mileage for pokemon go. so it could be worse..my daughter in law needed the break. and my son is back tomorrow. doing an airport run!!

Hi friends! 💖 It has been FOREVER (or so it seems). Got home from conference on Thursday and I'm so happy to be home. It was lovely to see coworkers, but 6 days of 5:30 alarms were more than enough. We had just under 7,800 attendees when all was said and done. It's exhausting, but pics like this make it worth it. (We have a partnership with Sesame in Communities.) 💙 Oh, and we had steak & sweet potatoes for dinner tonight. One of my favorites.

leannec maybe under your bed? My little grandson has been sick since he started daycare. But yesterday they called dd and said he’s got labored breathing. I said go to the ER. You don’t mess with breathing issues in infants. She called her dr and he said he’d try to treat him at the office with breathing treatments. Sent him home with a nebulizer and had her do it every 4 hours. She stayed up all night counting his respirations. I went this morning and he was still wheezing. We got him treated and situated and they went to bed. He was in good spirits unless we were sucking out snot. So far he’s ok. In the middle of this my niece starts texting pictures of her baby’s rash and do I think she has chicken pox. Should she cancel her vacation at the beach. Turns out they were mosquito bites. paget our footers we’re poured this week. Supposedly the foundation and walls on Monday. I have pretty much everything planned. I need to start ordering all the light fixtures that I’m replacing. I researched everything for weeks before I met with the decorator. She got half a day off because I was easy. Dinner was bbq’d chicken with a tomato corn cucumber salad. Glad everything went well christine58scrapmaven maybe an Airbnb?

Hi Everyone, I have done some cleaning today, made birthday cards and baked a cake, and I still need to make the icing for the cake. Not sure if I will do that tonight or in the morning. My sisters and their families are coming over for lunch tomorrow and then we will have the cake and ice cream to celebrate two birthdays. Dh had leftovers for dinner and just left to go night fishing with a friend. I will find something later or maybe I will just eat chocolate chip cookies! karenlou keeping you and your dh in my thoughts, and you too KelleeM.

Girl! You are a genius! That might be the solution! Thanks!!!! I have seriously invested more than a thousand dollars into this stupid collection over the years ... I don't want to let it go ... It's also a no brainer that I will be keeping my Christmas salt and pepper shaker collection ... it is substantial but takes up way less space ... and all fits into one Rubbermaid bin

leannec , I'm glad that you're keeping your collection for now. Choose something less important and get rid of that. KelleeM and karenlou , you're all in my prayers. destined2bmom , we need to send you to a spa where you can be pampered all day and then sleep all night. You must be beyond exhausted. Can you make a point of sleeping all night tmw night? The problem w/the apartment is that once all paperwork has been submitted then the school board approves it and then the person can move. The HR dept didn't bother to let ds know that a couple forms were still necessary. We knew that this coming week he'd likely have to commute, but that was it. We told him not to sign his contract on Monday unless he's either guaranteed housing in writing or he is willing to pay a lot more to rent a regular apartment. He doesn't want to burn a bridge, but they are not honoring their guarantee, at this point. Luckily, he hasn't signed a contract. There are other openings in closer districts and the housing would be more affordable. Ds really likes the support he's been given by the school staff and he likes the weather in that area. So, he's bummed that this might not work out, though we think it'll probably be fine in the end. We might have to do a quarantine protocol after students arrive in a week and a half.
I have looked at airbnb's. They are pricey in that area or you have to share a bedroom w/3 other strangers. It's near a major city w/a major homeless problem and most of the airbnb's are in that city. So, sharing isn't ideal.
