They can, but at least around here, most districts don't. They do here. My BF is a principal and she has to go to the spanking training every year because they actively do it in her district. I would not work there.

Texas schools can spank. In our district you have to jump through a lot of hoops to opt out. 19 US states allow spanking from preschool through high school. LOL ya haven't been spanked until you have been spanked with a wooden paddle with holes in it by a NUN !

Schools here for the most part don’t have lockers. The high school had them but only for students that were taking PE and they only need two years of it. You couldn’t go on campus period in most schools. When my son was in elementary you could go to the classroom to drop off for kindergarten and 1st snd second but then security got tighter so I doubt that’s an option any more. They made it so you had to go through the office and sign in. In middle and high school parents could not get into campus they had your child come to you. No option there at all.
I’m glad my son is done with public school after hearing some of the local parents.

@merge and myshelly where is Clay County, Texas? When I was looking at my cousins Facebook page this morning I saw this post. Seems that it is a real post from the sheriffs department in that county. Wondering what part of the state that is? I read articles about how outdated their computers are I would assume it’s to upgrade those as well. It’s also over ten years. They are short staffed and need to be brought into the current century technology wise. People complain about waiting so long to talk to a person or that some returns take months. The improvement should fix this.

We had a 7 hr school board meeting last night. The board banned the use of “preferred pronouns,” everyone will be called by the pronouns assigned at birth. Banned CRT. Eliminated the Scholastic Book Fair (too many woke books). Made strict rules about which bathrooms people can use because girls will get raped if trans people can choose which bathroom to use. Eliminated GT classes. The room was filled with people wearing tshirts that said “Patriot Mob” and more than one speaker used the word “woketards.” So, yes, they’ve lost their minds. CRT isn't being taught in schools so why would anyone care if it's banned?

What they consider to be CRT is not the same as what the rest of us consider to be CRT. americarenewing.com/issue_topic/critical-race-theory/

About not being able to walk your child to class on the first day.... I've worked in the schools for 30 years. I've been an educator for 30+ years and have never had an open season on walking kids to class on the first day (and 12 years as a parent). The only exception has been this year for our new TK classes where on the first day, it was kind of an orientation where parents were welcome and left with kids when the welcome hour was up.
