The Peas have taught me so much over the years. I definitely think being here has opened up my view on the world and issues over the 20+ years I’ve been here. I was wondering what is something you’ve changed because of the peas? Mine is simple. I used to say “no problem” all the time when people said thank you. It never crossed my mind that some people don’t like that. I know make a conscious effort to say you’re welcome. We moved to Calif from Canada in '88. I could not get used to restaurant servers replying Uh-huh when we said thank you! No problem is a bit step up. I feel like due to my involvement here I've grown in many ways that are difficult to articulate in my current fuzzy minded state. I appreciate the loving support the vast majority of people give to one another here... and I love feeling that some people I have never met IRL are actually friends. And I have been introduced to many new to me items... InstantPot being a big one.

I learned about tubing mascara on here and have never looked back. I used to struggle with dark raccoon eyes no matter the kind of mascara I tried until I made the switch. tell me more

Thank you for not saying that all the time. 😊 I know that I was one of who mentioned that. Just recently, I was talking about something I learned from this board, to a friend. Then I tried to explain what this message board was, without naming the actual board. Which, of course, is nearly impossible. We discuss every. thing. After all my fumbling, she says - so it’s like a support group ? Yes. That’s what it is. A support group. We support each other. ❤️ YES!!!

I absolutely credit the peas for my political conversion. I was raised in a super conservative home and religion. I didn’t have much exposure to other viewpoints, I just knew that Democrats wanted to kill all the babies and turn everyone gay for some reason. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your willingness to listen and learn and possibly change your mind; open-mindedness is a rare commodity these days! Thank you!

What is a tubing mascara, you ask? It's the answer to your prayers for extension-like lashes in a flake-free formula that slides right off with warm water at the end of the day. ETA: I copied and pasted that definition. You can find it at Target. I’m seeing several brands at target with that description. Is there a brand that is recommended? I missed the discussion apparently. I buy Thrive online, auto ship. Comes off easily with warm water but zero flaking or smearing all the live long day. 🤗

I've learned so much thru the years. From products to try all the way to what not to say to someone who is grieving.

I eat a lot more cherries since elaine wrote about the 6-cherry pitter a few years ago. They're a staple in my morning yogurt during the summer. I've become a lot more aware of politics and media -- I've read so many great posts and links here. I've learned about many different cultures and areas of the country and world.

I used to think marriage was only for heterosexual relationships. I had no problem with civic partnerships or whatever for homosexual ones, I just didn't like the term marriage. Over time, I realized the problem with that.

My sleep has changed. I learned about weighted blankets and wedge pillows here on this message board. My weighted blanket is now something I need to sleep. It hasn't fixed my insomnia, but my sleep is so much better than it was. I've learned to let things go and that I don't need to engage. Posts, threads, commentary, etc.... If I don't like the topic, subject, commentary, etc... I scroll on by. It's pointless to argue back and forth with someone on a message board....especially when each and every person is going to stand their ground in regards to their beliefs, opinion, what they think is right. I don't need for separate boards to be created, because something isn't of interest to me. I simply scroll on by. Do you use a wedge pillow to sleep more upright or for you legs? I love mine when I used it under my knees for my back. But I had trouble using it when sleeping on a bed. I slept on the sofa for many months to take care of my dog if necessary overnight and slept so well with the wedge pillow on the sofa.

Fiestaware. Serious note.. probably more awareness of LGBQ+ things.. being more open minded ...I wasn't on one end of the spectrum by any means but learned more here than anywhere else. I was accepting but maybe not 100% back when. back to silliness.. things to buy at Costco and Amazon!

I've cried (a lot) with it on and the worst it does is come off in biggish pieces. It washes off with water which is a must for me. You pull your eyelashes after they're wet and it comes off like socks would.

So much, but my favorite is when DH tells me about some news thing, or event that happened, and I already know about it because I read it on this board hours ago

I’ve learned to have a tougher “online” skin. Or maybe I learned when to post and when to leave it alone.
One of my first pea posts on the old board, after lurking a long time, I was handslapped by an infamous handslapper and it really stung. Stopped posting for a while then I thought no way is one snotty person going to take the peas away from me. Now I expect a possible hand slap and take it with a grain of salt or I just sit on my hands and don’t post and I just move along to a gentler thread 😂

I use the wedge pillow to sleep upright, head elevated, to help my sinus issues. Sleeping upright, head elevated has help immensely. I have less sinus congestion when I wake up.

*Merkins are something I learned about on here. Also, learning about how many people care if you put your shopping cart back in the corral. It's been almost 20 years, so I can't remember everything that I've picked up on (or avoided). I did find some great recipes that we've shared here though.

Off the top of my head:
1. I never, ever sleep in whatever clothes I was wearing that day. Not even super comfortable clothes. Always in my pajamas. No public "germs" in my clean bed. (myshelly) 2. My feet are not special. If I have dry cracked feet, it is because I have been lazy and not maintaining them properly. I don't get dry cracked feet anymore. It is really not that hard to keep them nice once you've got them there. (spongemom scrappants)

So much, but my favorite is when DH tells me about some news thing, or event that happened, and I already know about it because I read it on this board hours ago So much this! But not just hours, more like days or even weeks ago. My all time favorite though is that now I always bake my cupcakes and muffins at 50° higher temperature than the box/recipe says for the first five minutes so they get nice and tall, then turn the temp down to what was specified.

My biggest thing was the instapot. It has changed the way I cook. I have three now, because I got one from my daughter when she left the US. I really don't need three, but I like having two. I could not do without it. Or I would not want to do without it

I was considering allowing my Dachshund girls to have a litter of puppies, but a sweet pea (I don't think she's here any more, but I remember she was in Texas), convinced me not to.
I have always had those leanings about 'backyard breeders', but she sort of pushed me over the edge.

the first thing i thought of too!! remember "fecal facial"?? No, how did I miss that? What was it about? it was how one pea described why you DO NOT bend over the public toilet to push the handle, you use your feet. or you'll get a fecal facial!

LOL. i had no idea that's what we were calling those. definitely no self inflicted facials for me. i will even round house kick the highest handle just to avoid touching it.
