The Peas have taught me so much over the years. I definitely think being here has opened up my view on the world and issues over the 20+ years I’ve been here.
I was wondering what is something you’ve changed because of the peas?
Mine is simple. I used to say “no problem” all the time when people said thank you. It never crossed my mind that some people don’t like that. I know make a conscious effort to say you’re welcome.

I switched from bar soap to liquid soap for hand washing in the hall bath. There’s probably more. I’ll come back later when I remember.

Besides putting shopping carts up, I have learned about Special Education students and their rights in the classroom. When world events take place, it has generally been a learning experience hearing opinions from all over the world. I've confirmed vacation plans through this site and cooked many different recipes. Christmas gifts big and small have been taken to a new level. Love hearing about births, graduations and weddings.

Sometimes I do things just because I know peas would freak out if they saw me do them, does that count? Just now I was cuddling a cat and set him down on the kitchen counter and heard the silent judgement of the peas expressed as one giant EEEWWWWWWWW. And I didn't care one little bit!

New thread What do you do that would make the Peas Cringe? I’m thinking most of us would have a longer list for that.

Every night when I cuddle up in my bed with my 3 dogs, I think to myself “somewhere, someplace in the world, if they only knew, there would be Refupeas around the world shuddering with horror, thinking I must be absolutely crazy.” And it makes me laugh. (Sorry. That is definitely a “not changed” thing. I’ll have to think about a “changed” thing and come back later. I’m sure there is something”.

Now, when I drive a rental car, I know to check the fuel gauge for the arrow to tell me which side of the car the tank opening is on!

My sleep has changed. I learned about weighted blankets and wedge pillows here on this message board. My weighted blanket is now something I need to sleep. It hasn't fixed my insomnia, but my sleep is so much better than it was.
I've learned to let things go and that I don't need to engage. Posts, threads, commentary, etc.... If I don't like the topic, subject, commentary, etc... I scroll on by. It's pointless to argue back and forth with someone on a message board....especially when each and every person is going to stand their ground in regards to their beliefs, opinion, what they think is right. I don't need for separate boards to be created, because something isn't of interest to me. I simply scroll on by.

I can’t think of just one. All kinds of info about products; that’s a big one. I used the tips that I found here when I had my colonoscopy, and they really helped. When I want to find out about a product and get a recommendation, this is the first place that I look. This is in so many ways a wonderful place, and I am thankful that it is here.

I always think of the peas when I leave my shopping cart behind the concrete wheel stop each parking space has. It's pretty much the norm at that store. As soon as someone sees you come out of the store they start to trail you slowly, hoping to grab your spot. Then they sit there waiting patiently for you to unload your groceries. The 5-6 cars that inevitably back up behind them would rather I just stash that cart and get the heck out of there, than wait even longer for me to return my cart to the rack (it's very rarely close by). I recently quit rinsing my mouth after brushing Apparently I missed a thread where this was discussed. However, it sounds disgusting so chalk me up for the "haven't changed" category for this one!

I learned about tubing mascara on here and have never looked back. I used to struggle with dark raccoon eyes no matter the kind of mascara I tried until I made the switch.

I also learned to make myself very, very clear when communicating over text, email, on social media etc... I read things over and make sure that I've spelled out every way something can be interpreted - I definitely learned that at Peas.

I'm not sure I've changed anything I do because of the Peas, but I do appreciate learning different POV and all the regional/cultural quirks that have been discussed.

One pea got me into keto and I lost weight and she gave up.
Another Pea got me to exercise and I do a lot and she gave up. I do everything they did and I am their success story!

Thank you for not saying that all the time. 😊 I know that I was one of who mentioned that. Just recently, I was talking about something I learned from this board, to a friend. Then I tried to explain what this message board was, without naming the actual board. Which, of course, is nearly impossible. We discuss every. thing. After all my fumbling, she says - so it’s like a support group ? Yes. That’s what it is. A support group. We support each other. ❤️

What is a tubing mascara, you ask? It's the answer to your prayers for extension-like lashes in a flake-free formula that slides right off with warm water at the end of the day. ETA: I copied and pasted that definition. You can find it at Target.

Don’t look at or talk to a pregnant woman ever. Don’t ask when she is due, what she’s having etc.

I missed the discussion apparently.

I have had my mind changed as I have learned and heard viewpoints I may not have heard otherwise. I try to be more open minded now we’ll except for MAGA I just can’t understand that at all.

It is mascara that makes little tubes around your eyelashes that can just be washed off. There’s several kinds and brands. I use Maybelline SnapScara. I also have a tube of Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes but I haven’t tried it yet.

I absolutely credit the peas for my political conversion. I was raised in a super conservative home and religion. I didn’t have much exposure to other viewpoints, I just knew that Democrats wanted to kill all the babies and turn everyone gay for some reason.
